I just think it's unfair for a hate group to get the right to claim an entire military aesthetic. Goths have been wearing military inspired for a long time. They're lots of actual nazi inspired video game characters and people have no problem with cosplays of those

As you said if a nazi wears d.walkure they'd out themselves eventually like DeeDee did. It's a miracle she never got her hands on the set.
