Trying to make a coord from this.
My friend is making a grey shawl with the white tree of gondor on it like the skirt has to match the socks.
Im just at a loss of what kind of headwear to get.
I was thinking that I could get a really nice golden leaf headband? There's a lot of nice ones on etsy.

>> No.10001545

>>10001537
The socks are coming up as sax blue for me, which is kind of disjointed. I think white would be fine (I'm hoping they are white and it's just my monitor playing up).
White x dark purple is kind of an odd colourway, don't you think? For some reason I think it'd look better with black. I don't want to sound like a downer, but this coord isn't something I like - it's really not to my taste, but if you're sold on wearing gold shoes I'd say you'll want shoes that look less cheap, but personally I'd go with purple shoes since you'll be tying in the purple of the skirt (as it is, it looks a bit disjointed).

Don't go for 'elven' inspired headwear - the blouse and shoes are too sweet to pull it off. I'd go for a purple floral canotier on your head. If you want to do an elven circlet, switch the blouse for a more flowy and mature one, maybe with a lower neckline. I'd get a pair of the gold three strap VW heels, if I were you.

But all in all, that's just my opinion.

>> No.10001547

>>10001537
I don't think the grey shawl and socks will be enough to pull grey into this. I think it is really out of place. You would need a grey blouse to go with it, then the shawl should probably the purple like the skirt.

That being said, a golden leaf crown / veil isn't completely out of place here since you have enough gold in the embroidery to make it work. A purple maxi pad headdress wouldn't be crazy either imo.

>> No.10001553

>>10001545
The socks are silver and gold to match the tree which is also silver and gold. The shawl that my friend is making is the same color silver.
I do have a slightly more flowy sleeved white blouse, but it's a little plain jane. (Thanks I Do Declare)
I'm trying to go with the light colors with the blouse, because it's supposed to be slightly elvish. So Maybe I'll just go with the plain one and make the necklace a little more eye catching.
I'm nervous about a wine head piece because the choker is wine. (looking for a gold accessory to go with that as well. Not sure what to get, though) and the shoes are gold.
I try to make the head wear and shoes match and have he neck wear and head wear be different.

I'm trying to bring out the silver part of the tree (It's harder to see on the screen but the right half of the tree is silver and the left half is gold). Otherwise I feel it might just look weird, yknow?
A grey blouse may work. It's just. So. Fucking. Hard. To. Find. Because that WAS my first choice.
The original coord from IM had a purple maxipad headdress.

Why are you putting so many colours into this coord? Stick to gold, purple and white, if you're not very accomplished with coording yet, it'll make it so much simpler for you.

Also you can justify your decisions if you want, but if you ask for advice you should be aware that I'm not trying to convince you to do something, I'm telling you what I should do.

Grey and silver aren't the same, and I think silver and gold doesn't usually play well with each other.

I would stick with either gold or silver for accessories, not both. I would get rid of the grey altogether though.

Agree with the shoes looking cheap, however, and a more flowy blouse would make this outstanding but it isn't bad as is, just kind of boring. Though if you can't afford new shoes, getting rid of the ribbon and replacing it with a gold shoe clip may work better.

personally, i'd go with gold, which seems to be predominant on this print.

Are you going for something more casual?
if not, I'd probably stick with two colors (purple and gold) only, while getting a little darker chiffon blouse to wear together with it.

Also, an "elfic" headdress would look nice if you're going towards something more Classic. (pic related, although I personally wouldn't wear this kind of tiara, but would try to find something smaller but still on the palette you're working with )

Hello gulls! I’m currently feeling a little indecisive, I want to buy this print from Alice Girl but I just can’t decide. I personally love the Peter Pan collar OP, but my s/o said I could get more use of of the JSK. I like the white, but after seeing the darker color way it only made my indecisiveness worse.

Which would you go for?

I always think jumperskirts are more fun to coord with. But in this case, the cheap-looking bows attached to the shoulder straps are throwing me off. But at the same time, having a bit of the print fabric peek out of the collar on the OP is really off-putting, too.

>> No.10002178

>>10002143
Other than pink, you can also do lavender to match the bow on the bodice, ivory to match the cathedrals and other details in the print, or maybe even some sort of yellow or mustard if you're really brave, at least as an accent color, as a complimentary shade to the purple. I feel like black could work but it might be a bit too dark and harsh so you can try dark brown instead.

I'd definitely bring out the gold(?) accents there in the print. AatP has this blouse for sale right now https://shop.baby-aatp.com/collections/alice-and-the-pirates/products/p13bl438-fairy-blouse

which is kind of the similar vibe of what I'm thinking. This one in particular has too much going on the collar area and would clash with the chest bow I think, but a blouse in similar color or style could look really nice. Then tie it in with gold heels. Simple soft metallic for classic, but if you wanna go with a more whimsical princess in a castle vibe, gold glitter like those AP ones. For head accessories you could pick a sparse pink floral crown and accent with small gold clip in bows, etc. Some floral lace tights in a darker tone maybe, idk. Could look cute.

Because this dress has a print that isn't too busy that lets you play with what you put with it. You can get a super OTT blouse and it'll balance out fine and make for a really nice con or special event coord.

Probably best to stick to the basics -- a white or ivory blouse and legwear. Then gold or wine red for shoes and bag (whichever you find easier to match). The dress is pretty high-contrast in this colourway so coording it with more colours is likely to look pretty messy.

If you to do some different coords with it, just switch up the style of the blouse and legwear -- something traditional and simple for a simpler look or go with chiffon/lace and princess sleeves for a more updated princess look. You can also change from the maxipad headdress to a wine red veil, flower crown, or go full Marie Antoinette and stick a ship in your hair.

You might want to wait for the dress to get in so you can check whether it's white or ivory, though.

I'm having trouble coordinating this and could really use some help. Truth is, I don't want my coord to be too sweet or too pink (I think that's why it's hard lol).

I was thinking about a mori-kei-ish coord with dark brown tea party shoes. I'd love to wear unsaturated green tights as well, but that would mean using a green blouse as well, right? I don't have a green blouse and honestly I'm not sure it would look nice... so white tights and white blouse it is /: maybe a beige underskirt, too? With, uhm, a beige beret? You could definitely bring out brown with this. I would also look into fur and deer patterned items, a lot of brands have capelets that would fit this.
Green is definitely a difficult color to use in lolita, but for a mori-esque look I think green legwarmers or loose socks perhaps over other tights may work? You don't necessarily have to match your legwear to the blouse as well, and your color balance will become more complex with the addition of outerwear. My other suggestion would be to avoid using white and beige together if possible and instead choose one to go with.

If you have items in a close-ish pale shade it'll look just fine, otherwise you could a) match the same pink undertone but use a different shade or b) de-emphasize the pink by focusing on a different color like sax or white and adding a small pop of pink in hair accessories or something.

I feel this would be fine with lavender or other pastels. Pinks matching is more cgl autism then anything. At most just try to match if it's a cool or warm tone pink and don't have another pink that's really dark or salmon or something.
I'd like to see this with more white accessories that have pink accents, like the dress itself. Then the pinks matching matters even less. Something like white socks with pink details or a white blouse with pink ribbons.

You could make a very simple coord with this by either keeping everything black and white or adding an accent color-- red or pink would be nice imo. With the halter cut this would be cute blouseless, but a cardigan over also works. If you wore a cardigan, try matching the color of it to a beret.
If you did a blouseless, warm weather look, an updo with a bow/bows and ankle socks would work.

I need some help deciding which dress will suit my body type more. I'm 168 cm tall, and fairly thin (weight fluctuates due to health issues, I've been ~110lbs for a bit) but I have a large bust (88-90cm). I'm nervous that my boobs will make certain cuts look worse on me and I'm not good at judging which ones because of the rest of my disproportional body. I love both of these, and I think sleeping garden will look better as I'm worried that my boobs will create a tent out of the cross op, but it looks like the sleeping garden model has a boob loaf and idk if it's from her pose or that tube of a bodice. And the more I look at cross op the more it looks accommodating for my boobs.

Also, if anyone has cross op, are the measurements actually accurate this time, or is it like pre-WW moitie?

>> No.10010840

If you have big boobs I think both of them have different risks

cross op you might end up with a valley and your boobs will obscure the shape of the cross

sleeping garden you could end up looking overstuffed

But unless you have very big boobs, I don't think you need to worry.

>> No.10010852

>>10010840
Sadly I do have big boobs, that bust size is mostly due to them, I have a really large cup size and a really small band size. I have almost perfectly fitting bras (have to use a sister size due to mine being rare) and unless I have a strap purse or wearing a seatbelt, I don't get 'separation' often, so I wonder if that will prevent the cross detail on cross op from becoming a valley. If I buy it I'll get a size 9, I'm scared size 11 will be too big, so if my boobs fill out the chest, would that prevent a valley? I can see the valley happening for size 11 because there will be lots of extra fabric to scrunch up between my boobs.

As for sleeping garden, I have no clue. Corset bustier/bodices are iffy on me, sometimes they look normal and you can't tell I have boob issues, but some tube/rectangular corset tops look misshapen on me. The back shirring might help but the corset detailing on the front might not.

So given this, any idea which one is better for bigger boobs/small everything else? I know both might not be ideal but fuck I love them and want to support new (chest-friendly) moitie.

>> No.10010855

I own the Cross OP in size 9, and I believe the measurements are accurate (I can double check tomorrow if you like). That being said, the cut is not at all friendly to boobs and the shoulders are smallish. My 83ish cm bust starts to give it a tent effect and the bodice is quite short. YMMV, but I'm also a good 10cm shorter than you and the short OP hits just above my knee, so you might find some extra thigh showing.

>> No.10010864

>>10010855
That would be really appreciated, thanks anon! Not boob friendly is not good, and I never even considered the shoulders because it's never a problem for me, damn. I just looked at the side profile of the dress because I'm a walnut and didn't see it before, but I can definitely see the tent effect potential now. I'm still determined though, because I loved the original cross jsk and I'll never fit into that chest. I'm okay with it being a bit short (unless tent effect makes it even shorter), I strive to be a gothic giraffe.

Hey Anon, I'm back! Sorry for the delay.

So the underbust measurement (directly over the ribbon) is 41cm flat. The bodice is about 28cm long from the top of the shoulder seam to the bottom of the underbust ribbon. Shoulder to shoulder (not measuring into the chiffon sleeves) is about 31cm flat. Armpit to armpit measurement is ~42cm flat. If you'd like further measurements let me know!

What about trying an off-white detachable sleeve blouse, off-white lace-top knee socks and brown shoes+bag? If you have a matching headdress/bow use that to balance the colour of the dress. But if you’re insistent on this dress I’d quit focusing on so much brown and that shitty fawn capelet. Blouse or bolero in the same color as the darker ribbons with blue or white accents would be lovely with this but I’d definitely try and focus the on the darker colors of the dress. Would also go for a less cheap looking beret.

I'm not sure who suggested putting a bolero under the JSK but to be honest it looks very wrong to me ): It's like putting underwear over your jeans- okay maybe not THAT bad, but you get the picture. Fashion, especially alternative fashion, always relies on originality and creativity but some things just don't work, in my opinion. I would put the bolero back on top of the JSK, I'm sure it would look better. The rest of the coord looks nice to me and colour-balanced. I'm not a fan of short socks because I think most of the time they cut the legs in the wrong way and make you look shorter, but this is 99% a personal preference.

Oof anon. I'm really sorry but it just doesn't work. I commend you for coming here and asking more advice. If you want to wear a bolero under a jsk and not over it, you have to pick one that doesn't have that plunging neckline, and looks more like a blouse than a lovechild between a shawl and a scarf with ruffles. Something like this Magic Tea Party bolero and not the droopy thing you have. Ista Mori, R-series and Little Dipper have also made similar structured boleros.

Once the bolero is swapped out, you can probably adjust the shoulder straps so your boobs don't look like a wrinkled mess.

The little details kind of matter in lolita, because almost all outfits are very detailed and completely different from normie dressing styles.

Oh man I love this dress, definitely on my to-buy list.
Other Innocent World items would color match well, their creamy beige should be close to the lace color. I would see if you can find a torchon (or otherwise cotton) lace trimmed blouse, knee or otk socks, and rectangle headdress from them. Try looking on Japanese secondhand sites for older items if you can't find newer IW to match.
You could coord this entirely with cream but brown or wine would be a good accent too. Oldschool classic can look good with a lot of different shoe and bag styles so consider what you already own before purchasing something else.

Recently got aatp Rosy Night’s Masquerade jsk and bonnet in purple but I’m stuck on how to coord it. It’s the only thing I have in purple and I don’t have a black blouse as of yet. I have white blouses and black cardigans but other than that I’m pretty stuck as I feel a white blouse would look weird and a cardigan is too casual with the bonnet.

>> No.10013162

>>10013125

With the bonnet, it's probably better to wait until you can get a black blouse in. Maybe try and look at some shops around you, anything with a high collar could work, you can pile on a few necklaces to hide how plain the blouse is (assuming you already have black shoes, tights, bags, etc, to make the rest of the coord).

If you really want to do it without a black blouse for Halloween, I'd suggest ditch the bonnet and do a fancy updo and put something like a bow or a tiara (if you have one) in your hair. Then do a blouseless coord and throw on a lacy shawl, maybe lace gloves or opera gloves (whatever you have). Try to go for a sort of fancy evening ball kind of outfit.

If you're in the mood for something really experimental you can try mixing a brown blouse, black x brown legwear, black shoes and bag with some brown and/or orange accessories. I feel like this is really dependent on the exact shade of brown getting along with the orange in the print and could be potentially disastrous, though, so proceed with extreme caution.

How can I wear and coord newer dresses in a vintage/old school way? Having a look at old GLBs and reading people being nostalgic about early lolita fashion made me realize I prefer the old style to newer trends. Unfortunately I got involved in lolita fashion just ~3 years ago, so the days I'm speaking of are long gone. All the tutorials I read teached me how to coord in a modern way, if that makes sense. When my coords are not casual, they kind of look like a costume and I'm not sure I like that. Do you have advice or resources? Also, I'd like to know what would you personally consider an "old" dress. Sorry for all the questions, hope someone passionate about old times can help. Thanks in advance (:

>> No.10019531

>>10019469
You should check out Old School Lolita Community Worldwide on facebook.

The newer the dress is, though, in my opinion the less you'll be able to coord it the exact same way. Newer dresses are, of course, made to fit the modern aesthetic more. Whereas older dress for example may not have needed a petticoat because they simply weren't made to accommodate a big one or one at all, most if not all modern pieces will need a petti and will look awkward without one. You can coord things with smaller petticoats, and basically just coord them more simply. A black or white blouse, plain socks or tights, more basic looking shoes, and simple headwear with simple makeup. Natural hair or natural colored wigs.

I should also mention that, the current trends right now are very OTT. It's perfectly suitable to have just a basically coorded dress, without all the OTT bells and whistles, and a basic coordinate doesn't necessarily mean it's old school.

The claw rings are okay for an event, same for the headdress, though I'm personally not a fan of flower crowns and horns so it might be a personal taste thing. The only thing I really don't like is the star bag, it feels out of place. Pic related works much better with the theme and it even mirrors the chain on your main piece.

The JSK's bodice is quite detailed so a longer necklace might clutter it. You can try and see if it looks good in practice but I think a choker will be enough.
