Don’t see one in the catalogue!

A thread for asking for help tweaking a coordinate or for when you’re not sure what’s not working in an idea you had; maybe you need some pointers on meshing pieces together. This is a thread for when you already have the basic idea of what you’re doing, for simple questions please see the stupid questions thread (old one is full, I’m sure someone will make a new one sometime).

So I feel a little silly starting the thread when asking for help with a fandom coord, but here goes. I don’t have a hard time making coords normally, but I want this to read well as a coord in it’s own right aside from being a character homage.

Obviously doing a Bakura themed coord, but I’m uncertain where exactly to take it in parts. Utilizing my Jun Ling skirt and tights and I’ll be getting the Boz LP in February-ish which has a nice simple white blouse that I’ll put the hair clip on as a neck bow. For a Boz jacket I own the leftmost one and will have the LP one, but is it just Roland bias making me think it would be best and I should search it out? Would need size L, hence why I don’t have one yet. But if it’s certainly better I’ll make an effort.

Accessory color is where I’m torn. I own both the meme headdress and new Hecate one in black, but in white they could imitate Bakura’s spiky white hair (not going to wear a wig obviously, that veers into cosplay). If I did get them in white I could try tying in more with with the AP Elegant Doll shoes in white I own and buy or commission a corsage in blue/white to go on the jacket. Bag can also help tie in more blue or white in as needed. Or should I just stick to black everything? I feel like white legwear would look off.

I’d really appreciate help/feedback on this idea. It’s been floating in my head ever since this egyptian print came out and it’s just something fun to work on too.

I love Yugioh so I support this, I've definitely considered getting a white jacket like the ones you have pictured to do some kind of Kaiba coord lol.

For your questions, I think the jacket you own is suitable enough, but try laying it out with the skirt to make sure it doesn't cut off at an odd place. My preference for the headdress is the white antique beast bat one.Keeping the legwear and shoes black seems best as well. I would lay this all out to decide on the bag color.

I would personally keep black and blue as the main colors and use white and gold as more minimal accents since I think adding too much of them could look a bit tacky.

Ah that sounds so fun, especially if you're brunette! AatP makes loads of sleeveless white long vests, maybe one will pop up pretty cheap someday just for you! I look forward to seeing it if it ever happens.

But thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah I don't intend on adding more blue or white than the current plans. Though you think I should stick with the black shoes with the white headdress? At least I own both shoes so I'll be able to see what works best down the line. Thanks again, glad to know my idea isn't the worst lol.

NAYRT but I think the white shoes would look harsh, the balance will be better with just the blouse and headdress for small accents.

This is a really cool idea and I hope I get to see pictures of you wearing it sometime in the future!
While the Roland would look good, I don't think it's going to make enough of a difference to make going through the trouble of getting one worth it, when you already have two jackets that would work perfectly well. I do agree that you should try it with both to see which one looks more flattering though.
I also prefer the idea of either headdress in white, but I really do think it would look better with white legwear instead of black.

The colours are a bit hard to pick out in your photo but I would match your co-ord with the little accents on the dress. So cream/white/off-white tights to match the collar. Black heeled brogues/oxfords or mary janes. A fairly simple black headbow and classic satchel style bag.

If you wanted to wear something over it I'd go for a cardigan that picks out the red(?) colour or black. Or if you're in a cold place a capelet over the top.

Classic low key make-up and hair with simple dainty jewelry.

Can i ask which dress this is anon? It's adorable.

So i asked in the worn thread to almost no avail about how i could coord this dress, so i'm assuming this might be the better thread to ask in. I was thinking about finding one of those long sleeve, turtleneck IW cutsews to wear with it but i'm still not even sure there. My friend recommended a faux fur capelette, but as i don't own one yet, and it's just a cape, it still doesn't help me out much. i own a few white poodle purses, and i have a pair of btssb heart buckle shoes in sax id like to pair with it, but that still leaves me without legwear or a blouse. i'm pretty open to different interpretations, because honestly i'm stumped on how to coord it but I am more of a fan of cotton fabric/lace, and round collared blouses if that helps at all

This is pretty much just how I would wear it if I had it (in the most boring way), but here you go. I’d go with sax accents over fully sax accessories and keep the focus on the JSK. I don’t know how this would look without winter accessories though, the heavy fur trim on the bottom makes it harder to style for me. It would also look cute in an overaccessorized late-old school coord imo.
P.S. Imagine that the whites match, couldn’t find anything better through lolibrary.

I think you could use this for a simple, cozy look.
I'd bring out the red with a red beret and socks and then go with black shoes and bag.
If you include outerwear as suggested then use the red for that and pair white legwear instead.

I think it would be cute to take some otome inspiration and use a pair of patterned legwear in similar colors such as an argyle. If this seems a bit much for you then don't be afraid to keep it simple!

Hello everyone!

I got the horror garden special set about two years ago now, and though I wear the skirt a bunch I think I've worn the gilet twice? and only ever with this skirt. I really want to wear it on its own but stumped as to how. Any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

>> No.10053793

>>10053785
Layering it on top of a blouse+skirt or JSK is the obvious thing to do with it but I'd try layering it on top of an OP as well, depending on the OPs you have that is. It could look good paired with a printed main piece but solids are a safer bet.
I'm being very vague because I don't know what you have in your wardrobe that might work with it, but they're some ideas nonetheless.

The really obvious answer is to swap out the skirt for another lavender skirt, or lavender x black skirt if you can find one. I'd stick to solids if you're worried about themes clashing with the bat collar. Then you'd be able to wear the same coords as before, maybe with some changes to accommodate the lack of black in the skirt.

You could also try using it like a bustier over an OP or maybe even wear it over a shapeless trapeze dress, but you'd definitely want to keep an eye on the neckline so it doesn't look weird with the gilet's bat collar.

Lastly, you could totally slip it into an ouji/boystyle coord -- black or matching lavender pants (if you can find them), white shirt. Keep the colour theme lavender x black x white and add lavender accessories to your hat or bag to keep the colours balanced throughout.

I can't take pictures right now unfortunately, will if needed, but hopefully here is better than stupid questions for this.

Those of you who own IW bordeaux pieces that are that super dark almost purple bordeaux, what do you coord it with? Just got in a JSK that looked normal bordeaux in the stock images, dark in the seller pictures but I wondered if it was lighting, and lo and behold it's that purple toned bordeaux. Also have a cardigan the same color but the JSK is more of the issue. What color do you guys wear with it since not many items are going to be this tone? I could see myself putting browns with it but otherwise I'm drawing a blank since I feel like navy accents would look off and mixing reds just makes you look unbalanced most of the time. I don't really own any purple/lavender unfortunately.

Someone gifted me this jumper skirt and I wanted to try my hand at a punk coord, but I'm having trouble with this little bastard.

Or should I simply not use it for a punk coord?

Black or red would look best. White may work too but I'm not sure how the contrast will work out due to the style of the dress, you'll want to be careful or things will get 2007-era anime con emo special snowflake tier real quick.

Something like a red blouse, and black boots or chunky platform mary jane's would look cool, maybe RHS. You could even try layering tights, like black ripped tights over red ones so the red peeks through the rips. It's a cool JSK anon, where is it from? I think you can have a lot of fun with this. Maybe look at old GLB's or Putumayo shots for inspo.

I'm deeply afraid of pulling the 2000's con emo look!

I'll be keeping it between red or black. Maybe it's better to wear a shorter sleeved blouse? I'll also go for chunky black platforms and I really like the idea of layering tights!

This JSK is from Bodyline. I believe it's really old. The dress construction and the fabric are really good. The only thing that bothers me a little is the red nylon lace around the skirt.

Thank you for your advice!

When you become more comfortable and expand your wardrobe, you could try pulling out the yellow, blue, or red from the print for something a bit more interesting. Good start anon! Definitely add some jewelry to bring out the dress's gold accents; a necklace or brooch on the blouse and rings would work. A gold clip in the hair is also an option.
Going into pickier territory, you might want to consider a patterned legwear that contains both wine and white to help the color balance, but if you don't own anything like that it's fine as is.

>I recently wore it with the golden knit bolero from Meta here depicted, but it felt too heavy, visually speaking.

Did you balance it off with golden/beige tights? Shoes might do, too, but you need something golden/beige at the bottom otherwise the top will be too light and the bottom too dark. If you want to avoid using that bolero, you could switch to white as secondary colour and use golden only as accent colour. White tights, black shoes and golden jewelry. If you want a bolero/coat I'd wear a black one just because white would really make too much of a contrast, personally I wouldn't like it.

I think a shorter black caplet could be a cute option for this. Alternatively since the sleeves are lined, you could wear a thermal layer underneath the dress for warmth.
For winter coords I find hats pair well such as a beret, so I'd work your hair into that. Something like curls or low double buns could be cute.
