I'm amazed at the hate/indifference towards Sheglit, their quality is really great and I'm so glad they're becoming more prominent. Their silhouette mightn't always be cookie-cutter lolita, but they generally cater to a mature, gothic/classic aesthetic which really flatters a pretty broad range of people.

>> No.10095788

>>10095784
Their quality is really nice but I do think a lot of their designs are quite boring for lolita standards. Imo, they fall in a weird place where gothic lolitas might find it too classic for their wardrobe and classic lolitas find it too gothic.

I really think it's because 1) They're newer 2) They don't really do iconic prints.

Everyone likes to make it out to be they're this big solidfag, but prints are just why most girls buy lolita and it's like a neverending fad. I guess more for us that enjoy quality and an actual gothic brand that doesn't rely on terrible rereleases, anon.

Agree with all of these. None of their stuff speaks to me enough to want to buy it. It's not even that they don't do prints, it's just the dowdy classic leaning mary poppins looking dresses aren't my thing. If I'm after solids I'd go to Moitie or Boz.

Besides the colour palette the stuff they put out right now is hardly gothic. I can just think of a dozen more things that would fit my wardrobe that I would buy before a new sheglit piece even comes to mind.

Their quality is really good for what you get though. I've never owned BPN but the construction of sheglit is solid and very details oriented. I'm inclined to agree with >>10095974, most lolitas despite insisting they love prints don't want to dump money for a nonprint.

Sheglit is actually my favorite brand now. They're filling the space that excentrique left behind, and classic brands that fell off the face of the Earth. For those brands we all seem to hold sacred, ie VM, MM, and MMM, the nothing but rereleases business model is boring af. Sheglit is coming up strong and I'm really happy. I'm not a fan of Sheglit and it has nothing to do with whether or not they have prints. I don't wear prints at all unless they're small and unobtrusive.

Their blouses are nice. Their corsets and vests are nice. But Sheglit's skirts and dresses are just really, REALLY fucking boring.

It's like if they're aiming for matronly, they don't quite go far enough to become charming like Mur Melche or Pink House. If they're aiming for elegant solids, their cuts and designs are never quite as elegant as MM or VM. If they're aiming for gothic, a ton of other brands are doing better gothic pieces. Their prints are just the same crap as every other gothic brand. And so on.

How many of you gulls have experience with Melikestea?

I'm finally biting the bullet and investing in a new petticoat and I'm trying to choose between the Melikestea cotton candy petticoat and the hybrid poof monster. For context, I mainly wear 2010 style pastel vomit AP dresses. I'm fairly certain I'm going to go with organza instead of voile since that's what I'm used to, but I'd love to hear opinions from people who have bought her petticoats before.

That would be great!
This group has a lot of snaps: https://www.flickr.com/groups/76733810@N00/pool/page60
You could look through it starting from the last page (which is page 65 with an account or 60 without an account) and save what you deem interesting. If you have a flickr/yahoo account there will be even more pictures visible. But not all pictures are downloadable. Usually you can click the picture and on the bottom right (next to the favorite and share button) is a download button. If you click it and get a range of sizes to choose from, it's downloadable.
If there's only a "show every size" window, it's not downloadable and you'd have to work around that (like installing a browser extensions like "Image Downloader" for chrome), but you really don't have to put in that effort. I'd be glad about any help!

For uploading them I'd recommend https://imgur.com/ they are easy to use and share.

I actually got started already! I found a group that went back to 2005 so I figured I might as well (vintage western community mostly but that's fine by me). What's the philosophy on pretty ita comm pics? Part of me wants to keep them, but it's also tempting to let them go gently into the night simply because there's no shortage of them even now.

Btw if you're using Chrome you don't need an extention to download the ones that are supposedly blocked, just click "view all sizes", hover over the image, right click, and hit "inspect" and a direct link to the image should be close to the top of the window. More involved than just downloading an extention, but my computer is old enough I don't want to bog it down.

Imgur is fantastic by the by, I use them for whatever I want to post to LJ. I'll dump stuff there and link here in the general or if we make a dedicated thread. Yes, I'm very sure they would. If I remember correctly that site belongs to rainedragon who is an information hoarder herself. I'm glad you like the selections! I feel a bit odd though, most of what I'm saving is biased heavily towards sweet even though I'm a goth… Maybe it's just because sweet is better represented or gothic had died down by the mid-2000s? I also feel strange leaving out all the cosplay and Vkei styling, along with the Greaser/Yankee styling.

I'm the one who mentioned the weight (according to the lm listing it is 1400g) and I hope it is real bread. If I were going to make a bread crown I would start with something lightweight to build it around (styrofoam ball or a partially inflated balloon perhaps) but at that weight it is probably full of treasures such as actual bread, secret documents, stolen jewels, insects, recording equipment, or a miniature cactus.

Whatever it's made from, wearing a headband that heavy sounds like an instant headache.

Out of curiosity, I went through Hanayoku's Lace Market feedback, picked some random dresses, and realized they somehow got their hands on:
20 AP Princess Cat dresses
7 AP Dolly Cat dresses
9 AP Baked Sweets dresses
4 AP Horror Garden dresses

Multiples of these prints are currently listed and they just reuse proof photos. In the case of the two dolly cats they have listed, both are the same colorway.

They have multiple listings from 2017 that are brand replicas.
I think all the duplicate dress owners are getting scammed harder than we previously thought.

I can't vouch for the decoration dream OP tags for certain so hopefully another anon that owns the OP can contribute that to be certain, but I own the back frill JSK in yellow that I bought from mercari and this is what my tags look like- mine is apparently made in the Philippines and doesn't have an extra tag like that- but of course they could have just been manufactured in completely separate factories being different cuts.
I did buy an AP dress from hanayoku last year before I realised they were reselling, and as far as I can tell everything looks genuine and has all the tags, the lace and print quality and alignment is all up to AP standards, so hopefully it's just a case of them moving from reselling taobao to reselling stuff they got cheap off secondhand sites- but it's still shifty they sell so many of the same dress series and don't provide reliable proof images. Here you go. Memorial Cake in blue and white, both jsk, and they both have the Made in China tag. Along with a closeup of the custom lace, as that's that part I find replicamakers seem to mess up the most on. The fabric should be thick cotton twill as well, but really I think you're fine -- Memorial Cake came out before the really good replicamakers realised they can make money from lolita, and then afterwards it's no longer a popular print.

I think if you bought from her a few years ago you're probably safe, she needed to build up some feedback so that people would think her stuff was legit and not fakes. So at the beginning at least she'd be shipping out real stuff to make sure her account isn't taken down before she can start raking in cash from the noobs.

Honestly looking back at old street snaps and the origins of lolita, the girls that always look slightly out of place and less like picture perfect dolls that clearly really love the fashion are the most inspiring to me. Some gulls talk like she's some obese hag ripping the seams in her honey cake but she seems to really care about the fashion and the community. Yes her coords aren't perfect and she tries too hard to be nice to everyone but she has a lot of experience in the fashion, and her recent content such as the documentary videos are enjoyable to watch and a far more productive contribution to this community than a zillionth AP haul. Maybe it's being friends with Tyler that's had such a good influence on her content, but I've thoroughly been enjoying it lately. She's far more likeable than she used to be.

I hate to WK but gulls saying she needs to quit because she gained a few pounds and doesn't 'suit' an alternative and already extremely niche fashion that she clearly really loves is a bit much. Sure she isn't the cutest but who in this world perfectly suits lolita? Besides our lord and saviour Mana himself?

Some of my clothes are on the snug side, but sometimes I just don’t like wearing all those layers if I’m just going to be sitting down playing vidya, cleaning my bathroom or doing yoga. If you can do it then more power to you, but that doesn’t mean those of us that can’t aren’t real lolitas. I'm the opposite--I'd love to be able to wear lolita around the house and be comfy. I think I may be slightly allergic to makeup bc when I put stuff on my eyelids and lashes (no matter how carefully, how top quality the makeup or the brand, or how it's sealed) my eyes always feel dry, stingy and sleepy afterwards. It makes me a bit lethargic. But I've been experimenting more with other makeup brands to see what works best with me and what doesn't so hopefully I'll remedy that problem.

The clothes themselves I suspect I'm just not used to yet. I'm so used to wearing jeans and a tshirt, so the several layers and the extra weight of all that fabric is very exhausting for me to move around in, which is why I'm excited to take off a full coord when I get home from a meet and ready to go back to bed or take a heavy nap after.

I'm thinking of switching the elastic on my casual petti to a drawstring desu, so I can loosen it after food if necessary when wearing daily coords. I wanna be a daily lolita but I need to find some workarounds for comfy things for my lazy ass to wear. orz

rofl that nun op is actually on my wishlist in a different color (or one of its sisters idr BtssB's got lots of nun stuff these days.) I do have a Meta Sailor OP similar to the pic, it is so dang comfy. Meta in general is just like... The best when it comes to comfort I find.

Yeah empire waisted dresses are something I've been slowly looking into, but overall I'm just not a fan of sack dresses RIP. I have a few, but I've found that the more shirring the better (obviously) and because I have small tits I'm able to get away without wearing a bra most of the time--which has helped a lot desu.

I've also started the journey of investing in lots of cutsews and I LOOOOVE them. I'm also keeping my eye out for skirts that are at least half or fully elastic waist so I can pair them with cute sweaters.

New one is awful and clashes horribly, bottom right is also kinda ugly and top left is questionable. The others are fine imo

This reminds me of the kinda dumn "action lolita" videos that fluffykawaii Jo has been making. Sure, you can do lolita in whatever, but it's definitely not the most practical outfit to go swimming in for example. But you CAN do it if you want. No one is stopping you.

I like this new dress, but only the top half. The gingham on the bottom just looks tacked on there. I feel like it's missing something.

Look at him, look at his power stance.
He's the man and he knows it.
