Oh man anon. That one looks especially short. Does the waist hit you in the right place? You can attach the straps together behind your neck like a halter to add a bit of length, but this one looks like it's a cheaper version (saving money with less fabric) and also designed to be short. I'd try to find a Salo that was just another cut for the normal release. They usually have adjustable straps and a longer length in the skirt.

5'8 or 173cm for the rest of the world.

I find that most AP jsks post-2013 fit me well, as long as I reposition the shoulder straps to be longer and wear either tights or OTKs that go up to my thigh.

Not here to argue, but the Japanese demographic for lolita is close to 5'3" average. I'm only 5'6" and I have issues with sleeve length and the only reason dress length isn't an issue is because my thighs are thin enough it doesn't look risqué.

>> No.10106685

Aww thanks anon!

I have a few more tips for those with a similar body type: avoid no shirring dresses, always measure shoulders and sleeve cuff width, and if needed use extra hidden buttons on blouses around the bust.

Long sleeve shirts/jackets from brand are often just a bit short, so it's a good idea to use wristcuffs or bracelets to make it look more balanced.

UTKs or shorter OTKs just look weird, unless you also wear an underskirt or long bloomers. In summer crew lengths work, but you still need to cover thighs somehow.

Also - pettis should be 50cm+

Fellow 5’6” here, I agree but I think that most American clothes are cut for a 5’3” figure too. I’ve noticed my Anthropologie dresses all have waists slightly too high and sleeves too short. 5’3” is a pretty standard average for female height in developed countries, after all. What I like about lolita dress (especially Mary Magdalene) is that they’re cut in a way that can allow them to adapt to different heights and figures somewhat — like lacing that can cinch at different heights, and adjustable straps

As a 166 cm, I actually agree with >>10106546. I do occasionally have length issues, normal waists becoming high waists, etc but it's nothing compared to what my 5'9 and up comm friends deal with. out of all my blouses with long sleeves, my AaTP seem to be longest. I'd say most of my long sleeves are 3/4th length on me as well, and I use the "wrist cuff trick" to make them seem longer as well. Bodyline actually has some pretty and long wrist cuffs that are actually pretty nice. They give me a good 3.5"-4" extra space to work with, which makes my blouses look better. Uh. Maybe if you actually learn to do your hair and makeup, if that's you in the pic then there is potential. Why are you into lolita though? Don't take this the wrong way, but it's an aesthetic that attracts a lot of scrutiny from everyone. You do sound extraordinarily salty, anon, but I'm also annoyed that a man feels the need to post in a thread that obviously is about women who are taller and asking for advice from other women. He isn't even asking for actual advice, he just wants validation.

>is there any hope for a 6' trans like me?
He could have asked, "How should I make my dresses look better if I'm 6'?" but no, he made it about his transness and gulls flew out in droves to tell him how much potential he has. It just rubs me the wrong way. Made a point of posting his face/shitty make up when the thread is about body type and didn't have any actual requests that could help us address what his concerns are.

He just wanted women to validate him. And they did.

I wouldn't blame you if you are no longer checking in for further replies but I do think you're trying to play in the wrong sandbox for your level. As a cis giantess myself, I will tell you it takes at least 2 years to research and practice before you can start creating good coords, or even building a good wardrobe.
You have to up your standards and work on your taste, especially for classic.
Allow yourself time to reflect elegant femininity from head-to-toe: in your posture, your posing, your styling.
It will not happen overnight, but you are at a good start.

>The good things I see here:
>The length of the OP you are wearing is great
>the silhouette is also good
>your eyebrows look good

>What needs work:
The pattern of the shoes is not appropriate, neither are the colors. brown is a great coording color for beginning in classic. Lolita is based on historical fashion so you don't want modern motifs or patterns/textures in your classic pieces.
I will say the bodice is a bit long for your torso shape, which is slightly rectangular. I would go for normal waist or high waist to give an impression of waist curvature.
Your hair looks good, but I would have your hairdresser cut and add more hair to your bangs to thicken them. Also, curling your ends under/towards your chin would be cute, & adding some face-framing hair pieces curled inward will soften your jawline.

good luck and remember to take it slow and research, research, research! knowledge of this girly stuff does not come natural to anyone--it's all learned. only thing natural is our inclination towards the kawaii life. take your time growing into the woman you want to be and you'll look great!

I'm 180cm and have a very wide ribcage and broad shoulders (roughly 45cm width!) for a girl, but I'm also a pretty extreme hourglass so my waist is defined and my proportions help me not look abnormal.

Time to remind this dumpster fire of a thread that a man is considered the peak of egl fashion, has a premiere lolita brand and modeled his dresses in Gothic Lolita Bibles, and invented the very term that this board is named for. Well it depends on what style you’re going for, because while sweet can look fantastic on tall lolitas, ap is notoriously difficult to deal with if and you’re sort of fucked if you ever want to wear an op. Best brand I’d recommend is meta, they’ve been better when it comes to shoulder room and dress length in my experience. Gothic and classic are much, much easier to work around since underskirts are pretty popular and moitie has quite a few dresses with longer versions.
In addition to this, off brand is your friend when it comes to blouses and stockings. Taobao stores don’t hold much clout but because they generally cater to a wider size range, they’re a much preferred choice over altering a btssb blouse.

Oh yeah I should've said. I'm not really into sweet, definitely more interested in both goth and classic. I'm not sure I want to bother trying to get into the fashion if I'm only able to wear non-brand stuff though.

We've pretty much got the same measurements and height. But think of it this way, your waist measurement is technically irrelevant since few things are going to fit your exact waist anyways

And you find things that fit?

Yes. But waists are always going to be high. I'm phone posting right now so no pics but cuts like the low waist cut on baby's scheherezade jsk are going to fit you like a dream. Actually I think my bust is a little larger and my waist slightly smaller (I usually find blouse buttons gape but I just wear them under jsks) but again the waist measurements really aren't all that of a big deal.

You aren't going to find that every dress reaches your knee unless you're looking for it, so you should either accept that you're going to show a little leg, or just buy very carefully if that's not for you. I don't mind leg, personally.

It looks very similar to this Baby blouse called Chiffon Princess, without the detachable princess sleeves.

How long do these kinds of JSKs tend to look? The only photos I can find go down to the ankles on the model. (I'm 5'6"-5'7" for the record)

Some girl on instagram wrote that she's just 155cm, yet the new Moitie socks don't stay up. What am I supposed to do then at 177cm?! Do I need to try to somehow get old ones or is there another non-ita option?

sock tape/glue could help them stay up.

>> No.10113491

Staying up has not much to do with your height, it’s a mix of the material of the socks and your leg shape. Like most people just use sick glue.

That dress is going to be artisto on the long length because the skirt isn’t that wide.

They won't fit. They aren't otks. They ended up as utks and I have twig legs at 167cm. They are really thin too without much stretch. I'm pretty disappointed because I find utks not very flattering.

your measurements are about average for Lolita clothes, you're just tall. So avoid really short AP cuts, and you probably won't fit in most OP's (unless they have elastic in the shoulder) and some unshirred pieces may be too small. Plus the sleeves on a lot of long sleeve blouses will be short. But yes, you can fit brand. You can look at the measurements on a dress before you buy it.
