It's kind of borderline there, too. The blouse isn't my thing but that double bow tie is cute (not $150 cute though...), the entire ensemble is kind of similar to, but actually not really my style (but it looks cute enough I'm tempted to give it a shot...) ...Augh, decision just got worse.

>>10157795

I don't know about everyone else, but Penguindrum was particular favorite of mine, and IW is also a favorite brand, so it's very much excitement at favorite things colliding, or it was... back when it came out so long ago.

Anyway, another way to look at it is, the pieces look boring but because they're not terribly flamboyant eye-catching flashy clothing, it's easy to mix and match them with other IW skirts and blouses and get a lot of different looks out of them. One of the biggest appeal for this collab is it's the most solidly lolita ones in a while, it actually looks like IW designed them in their own characteristic, toned down style, rather than being an anime first and then later became a lolita collab that's borderline cosplay, if that makes sense?

I feel like a lot of people, especially gulls, have had this attitude towards AP for several years now just because "muh 2008 sweet!111!!".

Don't get me wrong, I love a lot of old AP, but I love new AP too, and most of my favourite stuff from them is from 2013-present, and it's the same for many others judging by what's popular. AP has evolved and followed trends over time, because that's just what happens in the fashion industry, but they're still AP. Stylistically, they're still the most popular and iconic sweet brand, known for their cute prints and designs.

Kek, even with visual proof that the cats are <5% of the print in my favorite room and clearly not the main visual element, you're still trying to delude yourself. You can use supporting elements as accessories; having cat motifs on accessories does not make it the main focus of a print. BtSSB Kitten's Sweet Cherries Cafe Diner has cherry accesories but the cherries are barely even visible on the dress, just like the cats are hardly visible on MFR.

>>10158215

I recently missed a reservation in Baby, first time buying from them directly. Most of the items sold out very quickly, searched some threads and I read that they put more stock later.

But my question is, do they restock every color and such? Anybody knows if they have specific stock for reservations and stock for the online store? (And the various stores from Japan). I have seen that some items say "sold out during reservation", and some don't, so that means not every release stocks items later? Please help a poor gull out, any info is appreciated. In the meantime I will regularly check their twitter and main website.

Restock is somewhat unpredictable. You can keep checking back on their news page and see what they do restock

There's no reason for me to lie about this and I don't care about what you were arguing about. And no, that's not what backtracking is. Backtracking is directly taking back an original statement or argument after being reminded of an error and/or watering it down at the same time to make it less obvious, lurk the fuck more or hell, you can just google it instead of using words you don't even know the meaning of. Could Lolita be considered "camp"?
As I read Susan Sontag's essay on it, certain concepts stuck out:
>Camp is a vision of the world in terms of style -- but a particular kind of style. It is the love of the exaggerated, the "off," of things-being-what-they-are-not.
>The hallmark of Camp is the spirit of extravagance. Camp is a woman walking around in a dress made of three million feathers. Camp is the paintings of Carlo Crivelli, with their real jewels and trompe-l'oeil insects and cracks in the masonry. Gaudí's lurid and beautiful buildings in Barcelona are Camp not only because of their style but because they reveal -- most notably in the Cathedral of the Sagrada Familia -- the ambition on the part of one man to do what it takes a generation, a whole culture to accomplish
>Camp is the attempt to do something extraordinary. But extraordinary in the sense, often, of being special, glamorous. (The curved line, the extravagant gesture.)
>Detachment is the prerogative of an elite; and as the dandy is the 19th century's surrogate for the aristocrat in matters of culture, so Camp is the modern dandyism. Camp is the answer to the problem: how to be a dandy in the age of mass culture
>Camp taste has an affinity for certain arts rather than others. Clothes, furniture, all the elements of visual décor, for instance, make up a large part of Camp. For Camp art is often decorative art, emphasizing texture, sensuous surface, and style at the expense of content.
>All Camp objects, and persons, contain a large element of artifice. Nothing in nature can be campy. Rural Camp is still man-made, and most campy objects are urban. (Yet, they often have a serenity -- or a naiveté -- which is the equivalent of pastoral. A great deal of Camp suggests Empson's phrase, "urban pastoral.")

Camp is a real thing, anon. It's existed for a very, very long time. It's so popular that even the Met Gala's theme this year. This video is what explained it to me initially:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLJLkuwySV0&list=UUoEj4uRzynPXEEegNqMnJVw&index=3
tl;dw: Large fashion brands often engage in camp with their more out there runway looks, but it's a "thing" that dates back to the very concept of Versailles pushed by Louis XVI. From my reading, the core concept is extreme, over the top extravagance and glamour.

Meanwhile, the AATP dress I bought in store has had it's buttons come off recently but I was able to sew them back on without any other issues. It's only from 2017.

All my newer AP pieces are holding up fine too.. I bought 2 releases from last year and they're great.

I bought the sailor collar JSK from baby in January and it’s heavy and thick af. But my last two new AP JSKs feel like they’re made out of a cheap plastic tablecloth so I dunno. The cost has stayed the same for awhile so it only makes sense that the quality has gone down. Production and material costs generally rise slowly and continuously so if they charge the same amount they’ve gotta be cutting corners

Nayrt but yes, they've been getting things made in Indonesia, Myanmar, etc. There's some irony in people harping on about how Taobao dresses are lower quality, when most Chinese factories are now too expensive for AP to want to use. Production costs in China have gone up as labor laws become increasingly strict and workers are treated better. Another year or two and AP will probably be outsourcing to sweatshops in Bangladesh.

Why did Moitie decide to go from elegant pieces with beautiful silhouttes to...this?
The average japanese woman is 159cm - girls and young women (the main costumers for lolita) are even taller - so why use a borderline midget lady who looks to be well over 30 as your model? If this hadn't Moitie written on it, people would think you've snatched your father's/partner's dressshirt and added a fancy collar.
Sorry, but that just disappoints me.

There was an anon a few threads back asking if anyone had the bloomers from Antique beasT. I just received them in the mail. They are pretty scratchy and I feel like they are going to suck in hot weather. Website lists them as 65% polyester., so I wasn't really surprised. nayrt, but (a)it's a shirt (not a dress or OP), and (b)it's EGA, a line intended for both guys and gals.

Since it's EGA and intended for guys as well, throwing a shitton of lace and other feminine details on it is going to be pretty shit. I don't think they can go very far "designing" too much stuff on a shirt like this, any further and it'll look lolita rather than aristo.

Meanwhile the photo is purely to show the length. Keep in mind it's listed as a shirt (or blouse), you'd normally layer another thing over it, probably a gilet or a long jsk, or pair it with a skirt or pants. Kera staff just show it without anything else covering up the shirt because a comparison photo with even half the shirt covered up would be pretty pointless.

Anyone else love wearing lolita, love how it looks, but feel completely ridiculous wearing it? Like, I'm not going to stop wearing it but I always feel so ridiculous when I think back on it. I'm a daily lolita, and mainly old school sweet. I get a ton of compliments going out, and I like to think that for every person who snickers at me and laughs, there are others who feel inspired and or have their day brightened, and I honestly don't care how others see me. But I can't stop feeling so extra and ridiculous. Could be my depression talking.

Definitely, anon, and I wear really toned down classic. I never really blended in because before committing to daily lolita, I wore simply-styled vintage dresses every day, but I was definitely perceived differently in that style than in lolita.

Not sure if this fits what you're looking for but this girl looks undoubtedly goth while dressed so sweet.

The styling is completely sweet aside from her hair and makeup.

it's just her rockabilly hair. that's not "undoubtedly goth" at all, it just looks like she didn't bother with a wig

Well I would kind of blend in in classic lolita, especially if it's a long jsk from IW paired with a cardigan, some of them don't take poofy petticoats well so it just looks like I'm somewhat overdressed for whatever I'm doing.

So I guess it's kind of nice sometimes to be a little bit extra and ridiculous and get all dressed up. I mean, I don't particularly want attention from random strangers, there's just something really uplifting about having the small, very mundane luxury of setting aside a little bit of time and money to put on a really luxurious princess dress, be a little indulgent and take my time to really put on makeup and do my hair the way I like it rather than because I need to rush to get to work, and wear a petticoat that takes up 3x the space I normally would. Then go to a teaparty and meet other girls who also understand the thrill of wearing pretty clothes, spend some money on delicious cake and tea, and then come home, kick off my high heeled glitter shoes, and take a nice, long bath.

Sort of like that. I guess I could easily achieve the same wearing regular clothes and going out for like tapas and beer, but it just doesn't have the same sort of feel to it that putting on a ridiculously cute dress and then doing what I like purely because I like it and not because it's appropriate, that kind of does it for me in lolita. The ridiculousness just sort of adds to that feeling that I'm doing it because I want to and not because I'm following the crowd, if that makes sense?

Fuck you, Paris is just fine. I‘ll continue supporting them. At least their customer service is wonderful. They were able to get me some really popular sold out items and even tokyo exclusive special sets.

>have shit stock even when they get stuff in, etc.
That’s because the popular stuff sells before they even have a chance to add it to the shop. The moment AP announces something you can already reserve it at Paris.

This is how I feel about wearing sweet lolita. Gothic and classic I don't get the same feeling about even though I probably put just as much effort into the outfits.
