10201175 No.10201175 [Reply] [Original]

I think small but cohesive wardrobes are more popular among daily lolitas and I keep finding myself thinking about ways to make my wardrobe more cohesive lately. Can we have a thread about that?

>post actual wardrobes, NOT imaginary collages
>critique posted wardrobes and suggest items to add/remove
>make coords using items from posted wardrobes

>I think small but cohesive wardrobes are more popular among daily lolitas
Where did you get that idea from? The only people I know with smaller wardrobes are con/meetup Lolita’s. Everyone I know who wears it on a daily basis has a larger wardrobe. I myself have about 70ish main pieces and that’s because I wear it so often. My wardrobe is basically broken up to accommodate every possible occasion:
-daily/casual/lazy days
-daily/regular wear
-formal/meetup/con coords
-formal/date night/going out coords
-formal/dinner party/opera/fancy coords
-dream dress/collected pieces that rarely see the sun

Of course many of my pieces can be crossed over into different categories depending on how they are accessorized, there are definitely pieces that are more worn out then others. Besides unless you end up washing the same pieces over and over again (or not at all? Gross) having a larger wardrobe is advantageous for daily wear.

I can't direct you to specific threads but it has been discussed here multiple times. Also it seems like "konmari method" is getting popular in my comm with daily lolitas too, most daily lolitas I know have 20-30 main pieces max. They tend to have more blouses/socks/accessories compared to conlitas though.

This kind of thread is really only appealing or fun for larpers and lolitas at heart who don’t know that most of us only do this privately with our own wardrobes or among friends that we know well enough to at least know a bit of their taste.

Another of the many reasons there is a big gap between the actual wearers of the fashion and admirers who don’t really wear it, just participate in online lolita threads. Over and out.

I really like this thread idea!
I was going to make coords for some of those who've posted above, but I feel like anything I'd make would be something they've worn already, or specifically bought those items for those coordinates.

Pic related is my wardrobe. I definitely need more blouses and headwear.
I'd love some advice on:

> Bodyline ACC662 / pink rose hair loops. I'm not quite sure how to wear them. (3rd from the left, 3rd row)

So while I think you have a lot going on, you clearly have some preferences which makes this easier. You have a ton of red, blue and pink accents, nearly always in the same hue. >BTSSB Ribbon Roselyne Headbow. It feels really big and costumey when I wear it. (2nd from the left, 2nd row)
Big headbows need big hair. This is like the perfect time for a twintail wig.
>Bodyline ACC662 / pink rose hair loops. I'm not quite sure how to wear them. (3rd from the left, 3rd row)
These are like...hairties? They seem more classic than a lot of your wardrobe to me, I'd just chuck them on the ends of pigtails.
>Sax blue high-waisted Bodyline L030 / Love Nadia skirt. (2nd from the right, 3rd row)
Have you googled any coordinates with it? I honestly think this skirt is fugly irl and doesn't match other shades of sax which is why I see it paired with off white, beige and brown so often.
>Lavender Sugar Pansy skirt. (far left, 4th row)/the other skirt you want advice on
Either you wear this with pink or off white, or you have things to match that shade of lavender (for Sugar Pansy). Since you have pink and white in abundance in your wardrobe I would guess your main issue is not having quite the right blouse to go with either. Stop spending all your money on shitty bodyline main pieces and random enamel pins and get some more blouses and maybe some decent tights.

Usually im buying brand or taobao. Taobao i save the images immediately because they are much harder to track down.

Capsule wardrobes are just smaller, more controlled versions of bigger wardrobes. Basically, pick a theme, color, and style and focus on making sure all items you pick can be easily recombined with each other. It's easier to pick 1-2 colors and 1-2 themes that you like and just keep everything on rotation. JSKs and skirts would give you the most options and variety.

Depends on your substyle. I picked out a capsule-size selection for my bxw wardrobe back in college, so I had 5 blouses, short and long sleeve in black and white plus one fancier one for special occasions.

Consider:
http://www.fyeahlolita.com/2012/05/building-complete-lolita-wardrobe.html

It's not perfect, but she does give good advice on how to make the most out of pieces in a small wardrobe, even if it is a little outdated.

>> No.10219688

>>10219152
>>10219387

Most normie capsule wardrobes start out with the same advice that you can use -- first, work out what you actually need from your wardrobe: where will you actually wear it to? what weather do you need to brave? How much space do you have?

so for eg:
* only monthly meetup, small space: you can do 3-5 main pcs, and then find 3-5 blouses and coording pieces for them. If each main can be coorded with 3-5 different blouses, that gives you 9-25 different outfits, more than enough for a year.
* only a monthly meetup but you never want to repeat coords: have a few "base set" of matching blouse+tights, shoes+handbag, then you can buy and sell a new main piece every month.
* weekly meetup, say you're okay to repeat outfits after 6 months: that's 52 coords, 26 unique coords per year. If every main piece can be coorded 3 ways, then you can own 8-10 pieces and get 24-30 coords out of each dress/skirt.

-- and so on.

If you're just starting out wearing lolita, I'd say start with one jsk or skirt, and then a few different blouses/boleros/socks/accessories so that you can coord it a few different ways. If you happen to change your mind about what you like it's easier to get rid of fewer things. Newbies make mistakes, start slow and small so it's easier to get rid/replace things than be stuck with 3-5 dresses you decide you don't actually like after you see them irl.

Roli's Ramblings (a blog) had a series where she went around and fixed up capsule wardrobes. I'd suggest taking a wander through that tag on her blog, it's useful to see how she combines different items to create unique coords.

I think the most important thing to start with is figuring out what colours and cuts look best on you, and what makes you feel comfortable and confident when you wear it out. I used to buy random main-pieces based on how much I liked something when I first saw it, and ignored more ''boring'' releases. But now I mostly own things like pic related because I can wear it for a lot of occassions, including work. Before buying something new, I envision myself wearing it in different settings and imagine several coords with things I already have.
