Another time there was a whole series of plastic leather (it's GOOD plastic mind you, has a fancy name and would probably outlast AP handbags, but it was still plastic and still expected to yellow and degrade over time. It looks like a very cute summer outfit for sure, but:

1) The blouse is not working for lolita.

2) The belt looks like one of those bow belts newbies like to put on coords thinking they'll look well (they never do). It's also ivory, there doesn't seem to be any ivory in the print of the skirt at all.

3) The bottom half is not balanced at all. Where did that tan come from? I know that people use browns for country even when it's not a part of the print, but when I do this I at least try to spread things out by having a boater hat to bring some brown up top.

It just looks tan from the legs down since the shade of the shoes blend with her legs. And the bag is at the bottom too, so none of those browns are up top.

There's more I could mention...I get wanting to defend your friend, but we can't guide people if we let ourselves be blinded because they are sweet people.

As a someone who is in this fashion for a decade I partially agree with your points BUT it is a casual outfit and therefore the so called rules are a bit more loose.
1. It´s a cutsew with lace not a blouse.
2. It´s a belt with roses on it, the theme of the meet was roses so in her outfit you can find roses everywhere. The skirt has also ivory roses on it, which you can not see unless you are close to the person, unfortunately.

I often feel like there's this kind of huge difference between reality and expectations when it comes to taobao brands. It's odd, for promo pics there's only very small, tiny minor differences, like wrinkles being smoothed out, models being made taller (and better-looking), colour filters applied over the photo, flow of the cloak being corrected, etc.

Mostly somehow when you finally get the products in your hands, the reality just feels rather different, exactly like these two pics, even though there's nothing majorly different that you can pin down the difference to.

Not really. It's far worse to have a bunch of shades that are very similar but not identical, than to have complimentary shades. The dress is a different mint from the hair and the shoes are off-white where the bloomers are white. The teal socks look bad because they're the same saturation as the green pom poms in her hair, but a totally different hue.

I assumed they were going for a multiple toned look on purpose and colors never show up the same as photos as IRL. The silhouette and styling is the worst part of it to me, as I can imagine some experienced non ita people are into using multiple shades in a solid color coord to make it look interesting since there's not as much contrast as something with white or another colored lace. Not my style but there are worse aspects of the outfit than the shades of teal since they all sort of blur together and make it slightly less of an eyesore for me.

That's probably some of the issue but I've also gotten a lot of similarly dirty crap from Fril and Mercari. There's also a huge fear of washing a dress and ending up with the dye bleeding or that the washing machine with destroy it. Another part is not understanding basic stain removal, giving up, and selling it. OR just leaving the stain sit on the fabric for days in the bin and wondering why it's still there after one quick wash.
