I hate this kind of argument. "These people do a thing so it is now a thing." Same argument also gets brought up with ugly sneakers. Just because someone else does a thing that looks bad and breaks lolita rules doesn't mean that it is now not ugly or not against the aesthetic.

>> No.10277691

That depends on how prevalent it becomes though? I mean the OTT sweet era of lolita was a far cry from early lolita, and I'm sure some people thought it went against the original aesthetic. But it became prevalent enough that if you ask a normie who has a vague understanding of jfashion what lolita is, they're most likely going to think of the OTT sweet lolita. Some of them might not even recognize old school styles as lolita at all. Any cultural expression, be it language or fashion or whatever, belongs to and is defined and shaped by the people currently participating in it.

>> No.10277803

>>10277691
That's a shit comparison though. You can clearly tell that old school and OTT are related. All lolita substyles have one thing in common and that is they strive for a central aesthetic, cuteness, cohesiveness, girlyness.

That's like looking at itas wearing sailor skirts and saying oh well look how many of them are doing it, it is now part of lolita. Disgusting sneakers will never ever match the aesthetic. Even that AP sporty sweater dress thing requires nice kawaii shoes not running shoes.

I own pic related, but I'm thinking about getting another short coat because this one wasn't quite all that I had hoped for. I mainly wear gothic and classic, so I want a relatively simple coat, but it still needs to be lolita so it can accommodate a decent petti. This one has corset lacing, which I'm not a fan of, and it flares out even when not corseted which makes it perfect for cupcake shape pettis, but it looks weird when you're wearing an A-line. Could anyone give me any recommendations? It's okay if it's a coat that's not available right now, I don't mind hunting for it a bit.

>> No.10281988

>>10281545
It depends whether you still want something that's more fitted, in which case there will always be a bit of flare out to accommodate the possibility of the skirt flaring from the natural waist (unless it's a cropped jacket) or you're happy with something looser that won't have such dramatic flare. There's a couple that might work on wunderwelt and closetchild but it's hard to say even with the vague direction of gothic/classic whether they'll really work with what you own.

I'm having a sad time finding a new long lolita coat. I have a heavy wool fanplusfriend coat but after several years of daily use, it's too fucked and I'd rather replace it with brand. I ordered an IW coat but it's weirdly thin. I live somewhere cold in Europe, I've heard MM coats are amazing but I worry they would be uncomfortable since I'm tall for lolita and my arms are on the muscular side.
For short coats, I've had an AP one which was nice and an MMM one which was more like a suit jacket in terms of warmth. I usually go with a cropped leather jacket with a flannel lining for daily, though I wouldn't wear it to a meet.

What would you recommend for me? Also what lolita coats have you had and how do they compare to each other?

I found that the wind cuts through my VM much easier. I live in a place that gets to -30°C and no brand coat can withstand that. The lowest I can go out with a brand coat is -10°C before I have to bring out my heavy winter jacket. If you live somewhere warmer VM is probably fine.

Hopefully they'll do a similar one next year. Have you emailed Baroque about custom work? I've heard a lot of Korean brands will do that for you if you're really nice and explain the situation and offer to pay more.

>also I'm too pedantic sorry but that coat last year had a hood not a hoodie

Yeah I ordered the XL one, they actually did end up making the size as there were enough orders for it. Unfortunately for me they had forgotten about my order and the quantity they had asked the manufacturer for was not enough to cover all the XL size orders. As the item was so limited/hard to make and everything, it was impossible for them to create more stock of it and they gave me two options settle for an L size with discount or get a refund. As the L size was only a bit above my actual measurements I feared that I wouldn’t be able to wear it with a JSK and blouse beneath it, so I went for the refund. Still a bit sad about it, they made extra stock of all sizes except for XL. It really sucks, but I guess they are too scared that the XL stock will never getting sold.
Thank you anon for pointing out it is called a hood, I have to say I wasn’t really sure of how it is called in English.

Nayrt but leather and fur (excluding cow and sheep) are vastly different in their origins. 99% of leather is a byproduct of the meat industry, whereas most fur is from animals farmed exclusively for their fur and often not killed in humane ways. I can post a photo when I get home but the lining is nothing special. I think most of the warmth is because it's 50% Wool 50% Angora. Angora is warmer than wool and is so soft. Fair enough but pic related is so obviously handmade, like they had new shes and added the pom poms.

Yeah it’s all kinda dodgy which is why I was hoping someone had some info on it before I bought. I’m sweet so I like the style alright and appreciate the colors, just hesitant on pulling the trigger without knowing the quality. I’ll probably just end up using my same 3 black, tan, and red coats all winter.

>> No.10288926

I know this is probably asking a lot, but are there coats out there that work well for bigger chested gals? I've always seen ones that only accommodate around 97cm or so busts, and mine is around 114cm. I usually rely on ugly normie jackets but I'd like to invest in a cute one! Can be short or long, and doesn't have to be super thick and warm (around here it drops to 30-40F at the least during the day in winter).

I am kind of a koukleum (sorry for the lack of a similar English word), my normy winter coat is from HM and not very warm either so I think it'll be fine.
