I see stuff like this and honestly it's confusing to me why they don't sell for the big bucks. The quality and attention to detail is incredible, you'd think people would want to collect them the same way they'd collect like MM or VM. Every time I see Cornet being sold it's always less than $100

I’m going to go out on a limb and say wonder rocket. I *know* mori girl was two steps away from being a meme, but I thought it was quite cute and wish the brand at least evolved after its hayday. Had it kept going, I think it would have at least had a fairly large audience in china (a TON of replicas from them are sill floating around).

DeviL'n Bass, probably little known in the west while its a visual kei brand of which the replicas were everywhere in the late 00s, closed last year

I love Cornet so much! I got pic related secondhand a few years ago for very cheap (I want to say it was between $30 - $50?) and it's one of the most treasured pieces of my collection. It looks even better in person - just so delicate and sweet.
Before I bought it, I had very little idea of who they were, but now I'm hooked. I'm always searching secondhand for more pieces to collect. I guess part of it is motivated by the fact that most of their dresses were never recorded on lolibrary or elsewhere, so I have a fear of missing out on a possible dream dress that I'd never seen before.

Mary Magdalene. Classic Lolita brand, their production slowed down 10 years ago and died out over the next couple of years after that. I love their classic look and their sizing was one of the few that fit me, until in the last few years of their existence they started making the dresses bigger for the fattening audience. Their website is still up but long since out of stock on everything.
I translated a part of their site to English for them when they started to put English on there.

They haven’t announced their official closure, so there is a sliver of hope which is all I need to sustain my dream of a Mille rose jsk rerelease

The seamstresses split ways with the company over him being with her and the company has been in shambles since. That's why the quality of MM is just in the floor these days and it's unlikely to recover. Any new MM would be made in a Chinese factory.

I miss Swimmer so much. Mostly for decor and accessories like hairbrushes, mirrors, etc. I cherish the makeup bags I got from them a lot.

I agree. The quality and subtle difference in cut and silhouettes of their products were miles beyond any other classic lolita brands. Their prices were sort of expensive but well worth it and very few of their pieces deprecated in value.

Same ;_; I used to post on a long defunct Jfash forum - Asiajam - circa 05/06, where getting your hands on some Swimmer headphones was the ultimate status symbol. As it happens Yahoo auctions is currently flooded with Swimmer stuff and much of it is reasonably priced. Seems to be a lot of liquidation stock. If anyone wants anything, I'd be looking now as prices will probably creep up in a couple of years.

Another "cutesy homewares" brand I miss is Cram Cream. I still use a lot of their zippy pouches for craft bits, but I really miss their patterned tapes.

Algonquins and Putumayo
I can find Algonquins stuff easily since they closed recently but Putumayo is getting progressively harder if you're not interested in their more lolita items.

I just wish I had learned about algonquins sooner.

its not a japanese brand but I remember a brand that had a website where you could make your own lolita dress, pick the fabric and they'd send it to you. was watching them forever and when I got my first paycheck, they disappeared . they used to advertise in the old english gothic and lolita bibles if I recall.

I regret so much not getting an Excentrique skirt that was similar to this one pictured that I got the corset for when both were on WW. I was a bit too broke to comfortably afford both, so didn’t. Then soon after they shut down. I doubt I’d ever find it again.
