As a tall-lita, that’s unfortunate. You think your skirt is going to be great, and then you end up with it being almost comically short.

Definitely ita overall, but she doesn’t look hopeless. Hopefully she can find the JSK Version that’s longer and a good petti, and some nice tights. At least she’s got a passable blouse and shoes.

>> No.10350145

Honestly, skirt length is one rule I don't care about in lolita. I don't want anyone's ass hanging out, but I don't think it's scandalous for something to hit mid-thigh. Chess Chocolate is notoriously short. I don't think I've ever seen it reach anyone's knees.

I dunno half the older ladies at Whitby look like this... Some women just age like milk. When menopause hits, the skin sags, the pounds pack on, and the hair thins and can even fall out in patches. If they were already tall then they end up looking like old sissies, especially if they dress alternative or in a way that's not what we'd expect of old women.
Makes me a bit sad when we instantly assume someone is a tranny or a sissy. Many of us are going to be ugly old grandmas someday. I'd rather be an ugly old lady in brand than one in a cardie and elastic-waist, wide-legged trousers, even if it makes me look weird or a bit sissyish.

I feel this, but Chess Chocolate skirt is already meant to be a miniskirt on the short asian girls it's intended for, and furthermore -- the "waist" size is actually the hip size. It's meant to sit low and loose on your hips, not your waist. I'd probably feel more sympathy for her if she'd done this with any other skirt than one that's already marketed as a miniskirt, and actually wore the skirt lower, as intended.

Plus, I feel like if we're gonna give fatties a hard time for squeezing into dresses that don't fit, then tall-litas also ought to step up and buy longer dresses that cover them properly as well. Or at least do some minimum research and figure out that miniskirts aren't the right way to go.

Obviously death threats are way worse than saying "hey we don't want you in our group if you don't respect original artists' intellectual property rights for unique pieces". I didn't mean literal bullying beyond expressing that behavior is unwelcome, and I guess assumed people itt didn't either, assuming people even care enough about dolls and dresses to send death threats about them as you're claiming.

Out of curiosity, how does the BJD community feel about buying factory dolls for doll customization? The doll customizing community never seems to use factory dolls and generally customizes storebought or secondhand authentic dolls but I've seen a lot of listings online for knockoffs and wondered why people don't just bulk buy blank copies if they will just destroy the doll anyway.

Not sure if the BJD and doll customizing communities overlap as I don't do either myself but just view a lot of content from both online.

(not that anon). BJDs are a little different, they're made of resin. Part of the outbirk against replicas is some of the early ones are actually known to be made from cheap hazardous materials that give off some strong smell or dust. Plus unlike lolita where replicas were introduced as "you'll never own the OG SC for $600 so here is $100 replica", recasts were originally sold as the original dolls, fully intending to trick the buyers out of their money and then give them not just a cheap knockoff, but one made from cheap materials that's actually hazardous to their health. That's why the BJD community was much faster to adopt a no-recast rule.

I'd be wary of "factory" dolls that come from dodgy sources -- proper resin dolls are fairly safe, but "factory" or "surplus" is often just another name for replicas, recasts. Even worse if they tell you "it didn't meet QC because of small flaw" -- did it really? Maybe it's actually offgassing something hazardous.

It's hard to say for sure everything is kosher and 100% cured properly. I'd rather not pay for a "cheap" doll with my health, and I'm pretty sure no artist wants the headache of dealing with that either.

Plus, original BJDs are inherently meant to be customiseable anyway. A lot of companies sell just the blank, empty dolls (Unoas actually come as disassembled kits), then it's up to you to paint their faces on, give them clothes, wigs, eyes, if you want to you can make custom parts for them as well. Several people have frankendollies -- head from one company, body from another, animal parts from a third company. I don't really see much that you need to "destroy", there's not a whole lot of demand for broken up dolls? Mostly you're paying for the artist to have sculpted a decent body and face that you like for you to customise.

>> No.10350902 [DELETED]

>>10350899

I was thinking about people using vinyl and plastic dolls mostly and was unsure how similar they are to BJD customizing.

Like the big doll art customizers on YouTube use fashion dolls like Monster High dolls for example, (with MH especially the older, higher quality ones with more articulated limbs for posing; possibly a poor man's BJD?), and I've seen custom Blythe dolls as well and tons of factory Blythes on Etsy for example. I guess was wondering why in the more plastic doll comms they don't start with blank dolls and instead have to deconstruct and remove paints from and reroot premade dolls but I guess even with plastic or vinyl it could be a dangerous cheap plastic that is harmful.

>> No.10350905 [DELETED]

>>10350899
actually this isn't true. resin is particularly dangerous on it's own anyway. most of the recasts weren't dangerous or anything. infact the bjd stole this from the gundam community because those chinese replicas were resin instead of plastic which is dangerous to sand without respirator.

>>10350902

That's why I mentioned BJDs in particular are a little different, they're mostly blank to start with anyway.

Honestly, if you're artist and you openly admit to dodgy dealings, it's like painting a target on your back. You already deal with recasts, which is stealing someone else's work, so you can never complain about someone else stealing your work, reposting your art, copying your doll, etc etc. Plus it's always going to be easy for people to believe bad, nasty rumours about you because you already do replicas. Again, who wants that on their hands?

I believe it's still fine if someone was a beginner and bought a few fake doll parts for themselves to customise, people can be sympathetic that you don't want to deface an original. Lately the Pullip has a line of blank dolls that you can customise as well, so some companies are paying attention that people want to do craftsy stuff to their dolls.

>>10350905

Anon the early replicas from 2006 were reported to be crumbly on the inside. I don't know about you but I don't want to breathe the dust and bits that fall out from that thanks. Nevermind sanding it.

Just a question, and not in a mean way, how does one get this big and not freak out and do something drastic? I was 25 pounds overweight and could not fucking handle it anymore and snapped. I started a serious complete lifestyle change diet and hired a trainer. I can’t imagine getting that overweight and not being extremely distraught and motivated to make drastic changes. Is it very slow weight gain over time that makes you complacent? Or do you try to not think about it? I’m not here saying anyone’s a bad/gross person for being fat, just in our society there’s so much pressure not to be overweight I can’t imagine not having a total mental meltdown and making huge changes if I got this overweight

>> No.10351164

As someone overweight it’s usually a slow creep that snowballs. You can have bad body image and think you’re disgusting and still not feel compelled to do anything because it often feels like it’s too late/it’ll be impossible. Mental illness like binge eating disorder exist as well, anorexia isn’t the only ED out here. There are also life circumstances and genetics that play into stuff like this. Maybe they (no one specific) can’t medically do much physically or is on medications that make them gain weight even with maintaining a relatively healthy diet. There’s also the possibility that they (not this person in specific, again) just doesn’t care and doesn’t feel the need to change herself just because others don’t like how she looks.

I think it's quite the opposite, thinking of body positivity movements and such, also in terms of clothing being more accessable to bigger people. On the other hand, many overweight people still struggle with mental health issues or disordered eating and feel guilty about themselves. From personal experience I can say, that many ~ positive and self-loving ~ overweight people (especially women) are likely to have those issues and use the fake attitude as some sort of coping

I gained weight so gradually, that I didn’t notice for years. Just a little bit heavier here or there, but then it hit me. I’ve been diligently tracking my weight loss through diet and have lost 15 pounds this year.
I think part of the problem is that you fall into bad habits without realizing it, and starting out to lose weight, the sheer amount of information, good and bad, is overwhelming.
I spent last year trying different things to figure out what worked best for my body, and more importantly, started a mindset of making good decisions. But that takes a long term commitment to hold yourself accountable, and yes, be uncomfortable sometimes. Not everyone is willing to do that for the long haul. I’m lucky, I don’t have an underlying mental health condition that causes me to binge eat. Having to tackle mental health issues alongside of my body issues would be very difficult, especially without professional help.
Hope that helps provide some perspective.

I agree that there's a lot of pressure to be thin in our society. People are generally invasive about weight when you're skinny or fat (though probably less so when you're skinny). I've never been overweight, but there was a point when I put on weight and people were extremely invasive about it, asking me why or how I put on weight (I was on a new depression medication) pushing me to go to the gym or to eat less etc. when I lost that weight, people continued to be invasive, asking me how I lost it, if I was ok, if I was eating well, I look "too skinny", men like curves (I'm not joking when I say people would tell me that, often indirectly) and things like that. People are just really rude about weight, and a lot of people project their insecurities about their weight onto other people. People who are most judgmental about it tend to be really insecure about themselves or they are fat too.
People in our culture tend to be weirdly obsessed with being skinny even if they are making no efforts to lose weight.

This could really just be saved with better undergarments. A better fitting bra would fix the quadboob and some kind of shapewear would help with the skirt waistband squeezing and pushing out her stomach, since its making the belt push out funny too.
I hate giving concrit on undergarments for chub-litas in fb threads because someone always comes in like "yOu dOnT hAvE tO cHaNge Ur bOdy tO fIt rOri!!!1!! uR pErFeCt aNd yOu dOnt hAvE tO wEaR uNcOmfOrTabLe GaRmEntSs tO fIT!!!!" and that's not what I'm saying.
I'm actually saying the opposite. Changing your body would be losing weight, and shapewear that fits isn't uncomfortable. People just always ignore size charts and buy it too small because they think itll make them smaller.
Chubby girls are just softer so garments don't lay as smooth, and shapewear is the difference between cute fatties and sloppy looking ones.

Nayrt, but I'm so tired of this lowkey homophobic shit disguised as progressivism.

Let's get one thing straight, sissies are cismen who use feminine clothing as a costume for humiliation. I shouldnt have to explain why comparing this to gay men and transwomen is wildly offensive, but let's do it anyway since you seem to equate any kind of critical thinking to mental gymnastics.

For starters, equating sissies to gay men implies that all gay men are in some way feminine or even cross-dressers which is just flat out untrue. There is nothing wrong with gay men acting or presenting femme, but it's often portrayed as the *only* way gay men act in both mainstream and popular lgbt culture and it's a damaging misrepresentation of the community.
Let's get further into it though, and talk about cross-dressers, drag queens, and especially transwomen.
Cross-dressers and drag queens aren't humiliated by dressing in feminine clothing like sissies are, so thats an unfair comparison too.
Lumping transwomen in with that assumes that transwomen are crossdressing and not simply dressing in accordance to their gender identity, and wearing feminine clothing is actually empowering, not humiliating to them. Transwomen also don't have to dress in a hyper-feminine way to validate their gender, and crossdressing, drag, and sissies are often purposefully an exaggeration of feminine presentation.

The LGBT community has been working for decades to normalize the idea of presenting outside of the gender binary, and sissies re-enforce the idea that presenting outside of the gender binary[especially in a femme way] is an embarrassing, humiliating act for the sake of their sick fetish. They don't belong in the community, and in my opinion, they need therapy. Some fetishes come from a place of hate and I think sissification is one of them.
/end essay

TLDR; Sisses are sick misogynists and fuck anyone for being one or supporting them.

Sort of why I got the white colorway after seeing others wearing it. At least the princess seams are a little less obvious. Still doesn't help the shape though.

>>10352327
Cup size is the difference between the fullest part of the bust and the band size. What >>10352308 is referring to is that most ready-made blouses and main pieces are cut and designed for a small cup size. They are not cut to accommodate large boobs. Shirring is added in the back to add additional leeway, and brands often add additonal button holes or longer straps so that the bodice length can be adjusted. This does nothing to change the curve in the seam so that your tits have somewhere to go. They end up flattened against the bodice. That's boobloaf. It's pretty common, and hard to avoid it if you've got big tits. Some fabrics, cuts, and bust detailing work better. Others don't. It's always a toss-up.

In the case where it doesn't, it helps having a variety of supportive undergarments, as well as other coordination options (boleros, cardigans, etc) to help ease the appearance of flattened boobs.

And yes, this can happen to thin people with large boobs. Losing weight does not always make cup sizes reduce on everyone. (Anecdotally, I dropped a lot of weight. While my band size and overall horizontal measurements decreased, my cup size did not. Still a 4" difference between bust and band). A binder doesn't help, and only adds to the warped shape.

Ignoring the drag queen, dress on the left could come out cute if she has decent sewing skills

Decent maybe, she seems to be a good seamstress, but most certainly not for a lolita event.

If you took Trixi Mattel out of this I think it could be cute, not particularly lolita but cute.

Thank you. That’s exactly what I was taking about. The shirring provides for a range of overall measurements but due to the curvature of the bodice seams there is only a 2” difference between the bust and rib portion of the bodice, hence me saying it would only work for a b cup and below, no matter the band size. Guess understanding how dress seams work makes me a make larper tho

The facial pose just emphasis "mouth breather." Looks like the top and bottom are from 2 different dresses.

what about the man posted at the beginning of this thread gave off sissy vibes to you? his coord was fine and respectful so it really seems like you just hate men in dresses, which is pretty fucking homophobic

>> No.10353487

the only thing that bothers me with this is that according to cgl, every man who wears lolita is automatically a sissy, even the ones who are just exploring the fashion. like it's clear who's a sissy and who's not, but any man posted here, even those trying to make a genuine attempt, are just lumped together with the sissy fetish and called gross.

leave the name calling to the actual sissies and stop acting like every man in a dress has a fucking fetish for it
