They're the biggest game in town and they know that for every person they fuck over there's just 2 more weebs ready to replace them.

that's why they won't do anything to alleviate lines, that why they don't move the con to a bigger convention center, and that's why they won't cap tickets. cause people will still show up in droves and give them money. they have no reason to give a shit.

As someone who works at the LACC as independently contracted staff, i can tell you that as of right now NO preparations for AX are being made on the convention center grounds.
We have several "cons," expos, speakers, and movie studios book parts of the LACC almost every week, so AX isnt allowed to start preparing until 4 days before their booked time slot.

Right now LACC management is very much desperately trying to cancel events, using CV as an excuse, because they still get paid whether the event is hosted or not. Lots of companies sign contracts with us that last for YEARS regarding their booked time slots and LACC gets paid in advance, nonrefundable. So even if AX paid for the next five years to rent out the space but never actually hosted their events, LACC still gets paid and even saves money on the staffing since we're not needed for the dates of the con.

You better believe management is going to push for AX to be cancelled so they can save a few bucks and not put in the staffing effort.

E3 had other issues like becoming increasingly irrelevant. They have been having issues for the last half a decade. A lot of their lifeblood is getting money from publishers for booth space but publishers have been leaning more towards holding their own events for cheaper. Letting in the public was a sign they were failing and needed that revenue source. They wanted to start pushing celebrities and influencers to so they could become more like Comic Con.

Industry and press hated it because it fucked up everything. E3 was good for networking and coverage. Having randoms in your way killed that.

This is what people don't understand: you don't put yourself around thousands of people for a weekend and then self-isolate "after" because the entire weekend, you've come into contact with so many people that if you got the virus, you've already spread it around to dozens or hundreds of others. It's not like AX is a safehaven where if you get COVID, nothing is affected until you leave. You'll give it to lots of others who are there who could pass it along to even more people and give it to the people you encounter through your travels home. And I honestly don't assume that anyone who would do something that stupid to begin with would truly self-isolate. You'd just apply the same logic any time you went anywhere after that.

You're right that they're hiding something from us -- it's the number of infections. The real number of current infections probably requires six digits and I don't doubt we'll reach a million based on how poorly the government has bungled the situation here and the general ignorance of the average American.

CA managed to lock it down early and hopefully people here get used to and learn how to act in these situations. There's going to be full looting and rioting in other parts of the country though once the ugly truth comes out, which I suppose is what some people have been waiting for.

Missing AX will seem so small compared to what's coming.

Honestly I don't think there's much they can do to stop the infection from spreading short of enforcing a mandatory lockdown of everything, and having armed police with masks/riot gear patrolling.
And yes, I'm aware that it sounds insane to have armed police keeping people locked in their homes. But the truth is people are too fucking retarded to actually do the right thing and not go around spreading the virus. We've already have dozens of articles about people who KNEW they were infected and still went out to parties, business meetings, or school dances.

I work retail shipping in CA and my local hospital just had their first confirmed case. And yet my work still hasn't shut down, and we're still getting people come in regularly. Are they doing something important like shipping medical supplies or food to relatives? No, they're doing fucking amazon returns and standing in line next to half a dozen other people instead of standing apart from each other.
And don't get me started on these retards wearing the masks
>customer wearing regular paper mask and gloves
>comes up to the counter
>they pull off the mask to talk to me
Even the people who are attempting to avoid infection are fucking retards who can't do that right. I'm using sanitizer nonstop, but I won't be surprised if I get infected. Which I'll probably survive, but I don't want to spread it to my grandparents.

Long story short, these people know they should not be outside for anything that's not necessary, and they're still just going around running errands
