for classic, American Duchess has a good reputation, but a limited selection ourside of women's sizes.

Vivienne Westwood is an iconic brand for shoes, and has endured in ouji for decades, especially the rocking horse varieties.

you can also look for specific styles of shoes. brogues are made by many brands and in many different colors and levels of quality.

generally speaking, flat shoes do not work well for ouji. heels or platforms look better.

Jiro, an ouji whose coords have often been used for the /ouG/ OP, posted about an ouji-specific remote meetup, which involved 6 oujis. he had matcha cake.

your basic foundation is solid. focusing on blue as the accent color is a good choice, since it is a common colorway so you will be able to build off of it easily.

the coord overall seems gothic, so avoid rounded elements when you are shopping for shoes: no bows unless they are similarly bat-like, like the collar of the blouse. you also want shoes with drama to match the gothic vibe. we discussed potential gothic shoe brands upthread.

as for wig color, i think general beauty advice websites or tutorials may be more helpful than this thread. there is no rule about ouji hair color so it will just come down to your personal preference.

Get a coat/cape/vest. True they're not 100% necessary but they're a good thing to start with. Are you tucking the shirt in so we can see the waistband or letting the shirt cover it? Are you wearing Moitie socks or opaque tights? This isn't very clear.

I am slowly trying to build myself an Ouji wardrobe, however most of the vest I own are too short to wear with pants. I have a bunch of vests and coats by AatP and they are all fine for Lolita, as the shortness doesn’t look off with a skirt/dress, but since I have a long torso it looks bad with pants. Any recommendations for brands that make longer vests? I was thinking about Triple Fortune maybe, as their items tend to fit well on western people, but I would like to know other people’s experience.

Depending on how short you are the lace may be covered by the trousers and only create an expensive and uncomfortable bump. You will also have to sew the ribbons to the place you want them to be or rearrange them every other step (I've owned a couple of the older releases). This collection has made me wish for elaborate ouji prints, the detail and texture of this is so cool, I didn't know it was possible before. I think the material/process is very expensive, and chiffon is cheaper and easier to work with, so.. just dresses, for the most part, save for the rare couple examples of border print jackets we've seen from smaller brands.

i think you are right in that it could be a resource for finding coords, even if some are miscatagorized. maybe if we add it to the OP, we can include a caveat to treat their information about ouji substyles with caution. the usefulness of the blog seems to be in finding coords by item, rather than as a "guide" to the style.

Actually the Armoire is not for that: There are plenty of good content there that is difficult even to find at lolibrary. More difficult yet for a beginner.

Both Armoire and PoP brings you a lot that you don't find anywhere, and really shows how ouji looks like. It is a wonderful place for inspo. Not even lolibrary has some features like GLB pictures and pictures of people wearing the coords.

Tho I read that Japanese corsets are shit for westerners with more pronounced waists, so as someone with a lot of natural difference between underbust and waist measurements I fear for how it will fit. Corsets should match your measurements. There are many different cuts of corset even among western manufacturers, because people have different body shapes. If you're pear shaped, you need a corset with a much larger hip spring. Your corset should fit snug to your ribs and hips, and can apply reduction to the waist. I'm not familiar with Japanese corsets, but if the rib spring and hip spring are too narrow for your measurements, its going to be hell on your body. And if its an actual steel-boned corset, trying to squeeze into a poorly fitted corset could cause nerve damage.

Basically corsets are complicated. If its a plastic-boned cheaply made fashion corset, you don't have to worry about a lot of this because its not going to really act as a real "corset" and give you any sort of waist reduction. It just looks cute. You can't really call them corsets. If you're looking into a REAL corset, then you need to take your measurements and buy something that matches your torso length, hip spring, and rib spring measurements.

No, you do not match your measurements if you are wearing a proper corset. You optimally go for 2-4 inches below your actual waist for the size of the corset, if it’s a proper, steel boned corset. Steel is the modern replacement of older forms of boning, such as whalebone. You do not want a plastic boned corset, they deform really easily. This is the only instance where matching your measurements should really apply, but even then, be careful.
