Where can I find cute shelves like these? They're adorbs.

Also, can you put stuff up on your walls without damaging them? I'm renting an apartment, so I should try to keep them as new.

>> No.10380305

They look like painted vintage shelves. Designs like these were common in the 70s and 80s

>> No.10380306

I decided I want to paint my bookshelves white and pink rather than buy white and pink ones, because the shelves I have are like 20 years old but are sturdy as hell and any pink/white ones I've found online seem to be incredibly cheap.

My sister has a gallon of white chalk paint she's willing to send me, but I don't really want a chalky finish. Can I add a glaze or varnish over it to give it a semi-gloss feel? Or should I wait until I can buy some semi-gloss paint? I've never painted furniture before so I will probably test everything out on a small magazine rack from the same set first anyway.

If you're going to glaze it anyway you're probably better off getting proper paint. Chalk paint isn't especially hard-wearing and will start coming off something high use like a bookcase. Usually that's fine because people want vintage look with their chalk paint furniture but sounds like you want a more polished look. I'd recommend getting an enamel based paint for shelves.

>> No.10380346

>>10380306
i would wait. chalk paint is really chalky. it's mostly used to make shabby chic pieces since it distresses well and has no gloss to it. even if you add gloss or varnish over it, it has a very chalky texture to how it looks (if that makes sense)

No way to put up shelves without damage. Just fill in the holes when you move out. Holes in walls are considered normal wear-and-tear and they can't go after you for it or anything, except maybe keeping more of your security deposit

I'm gonna post links to items and shops on Aliexpress that are on my watchlist. I haven't actually ordered any of these, so can't say anything about the quality.

First up: small cute/pastel items, some Swimmer and Sanrio replicas.

Seashell lamp: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000449181467.html
Swimmer replica organizers: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32979779250.html
Heart mirror: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000051164120.html
Swimmer replica storage box: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32959221032.html
Bow-shaped wall mounted shelf: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000830191369.html
Swimmer replica drying rack: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32962819346.html
Shelf with a heart cutout: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000008398117.html
Sanrio shelves/organizers: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32977471219.html
Three-tier heart shelf: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000571320254.html

These two stores have a lot of these kinds of pastel/cutesy items
https://www.aliexpress.com/store/1159493?spm=2114.12010615.100004.2.39616cd3TsJ2kv
https://www.aliexpress.com/store/1906405?spm=a2g0o.detail.1000061.1.75947e09HQndHF

Shipping from some of these stores is super expensive right now due to the pandemic, it's probably better to wait until the situation gets better before ordering. Well, unless you wanna pay 40 bucks for shipping.

No problem anon! Hopefully gulls enjoy these.

Next: more classy/basic white girl pastel items that could work in a seagull's home.

Mirror, meant to be used as a tray but I'm considering it for a wall: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000186827357.html

Coasters with gold details: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32902339411.html
Coasters without gold details: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33038219357.html
Round fluffy rug, different sizes: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000062909840.html
Ottoman 1: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000124507895.html
Ottoman 2: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000373474841.html
Ottoman 3: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000082484490.html

Sorry about the three ottomans, I'm considering getting one and can't decide between a few so I just dumped all of them there.
I might make a third collage later on with cute kitchenware and more storage cups, but I don't wanna flood the thread so it can wait.

just quarantine painted my lounge. Any ideas to prevent it feeling too dark? I quite like a dark room, its cosy. But I need something to "lift" it I guess? I got this light but I'm a little disappointed with it. I expected it to be white when switched on rather than colours, but it was pretty expensive and I dont hate it, just was really hype for it.

Stealing this idea because that's the exact layout of my room, except I have an actual bed instead of just a mattress on the floor. I'll probably keep my burando stashed in my closet though since my room gets a lot of direct sunlight.

>>10391001
Cosplayers vs. lolitas vs. other jfash has long been part of this board. Back when I first started using the board in 2014-15, there would occasionally be threads requesting that cgl be split into a cons and cosplay board and a lolita and jfash board. Cgl doesn't get enough traffic in the first place to warrant a split though.

First ayrt, thank you for posting these originally! I really like the lighting in these and going through my old phone made me a bit nostalgic. I also agree that not everything has to always fit the lolita aesthetic and this is coming from a lolita with a lolita-fitting room, but that doesn't mean it's the only aesthetic I like.

>>10391313
I used to make room threads a few years ago, cosplayers often requested inspo for work stations, displaying (both props and weeb stuff) and the like iirc. There's also lolita/jfash anons who wanted rooms that weren't conventionally cute and frilly. People can have different tastes and preferences yknow.

weirdly enough, vaporwave does have ties with Jfashion now.
I'd post examples if I find any, but Jfashion indie brands and lounges targeted toward those who wear Jfashion have been going for the popular "vaporwave" look, and you can see tons of vaporwave stuff in asian selfie apps too. Because of the popularity of the aesthetic, these hotels started renting out rooms to cosplayers for photos even.
Often time they are used for movie sets. pic related was used for the Japanese film "helter skelter" about a crazy Japanese model.

the best way to combat this is to let them have their own room to be themselves in

my bf has his own room and it's his very organized, 1950s lab room, bunch of retro movie posters, ray guns, etc.

my room (our bedroom) has a lot of my lolita stuff tacked on corkboards, i have a dressform and some goth things on the walls, etc.

if you can't have separate rooms, might as well talk it over and see if you can compromise on something. good luck!

for one of the bedrooms, I want to have a crafting/hobby area based on early 2000s rooms. (beaded curtains, bright colors, transparent electronics, lava lamp, I really like rainbow and bright colors)

If any one knows of peices that fit this aesthetic, let me know. Last time I shopped for furniture was in 2010 for my dorm room and none of the companies exist anymore/things need to be replaced

Does anybody know where I could find baskets for storage that are not synthetic, something like pictured in >>10391331 or the attached file? A clearly defined color scheme can truly transform the feel of a room, as clearly displayed in this picture. Though the room is quite bare and lacking in decorations, the choice of pink blinds and rug, in combination with the white furniture, immediately shows this room is truly girly. Not sure where you're located, so it's hard to give shop recommendations because I live in a European country. As for accessories, I like to use ribbons for hair clips, barettes and enamel pins. I think brooches can be technically stored like that too, but I use a cute pillow where I pin all my detachable bows on as well. I'm thinking about getting a small cute etagere where I can store and display my wristwear, rings and necklaces. But right now most of those accessories are stored inside a jewellery box.

I personally would move the bed away from the window. You know? As any sudden earthquake equals shattering glass all over you. Truthfully your desk is better served there. Bed goes on the right wall where your desk and gym shit is. You have a large space but your nightstand is broken right? I can see the drawers are overstuffed , or it is uneven, or broken. Toss it or fix that . Aesthetically you have too big of lamps . I would try for a floor lamp or smaller ones that add less yellow light.. and the nightstands in fact they themselves are too big. . It looks off . The asymmetry could be an attractive addition to the room should you decide on keeping just one. Also to add a headboard to complete your bedroom space. I see all that protein//vitamins shit on top of your dresser ...put it away. Or get those stacker shelf things where you can have them more unifor..
You have too much stuff if it is out and strewn all about. The gym shit especially looks small enough it could be stored in your closet when finished . Also lighter wood shades would work better with the wall color and bed spread.

I think the pictures are nice and remind me of a much younger, much more positive mindset I used to have. It's almost the OPPOSITE of trashy sex.

I decorated my dorm 10 years ago (this photo is mine) from stuff all off of taobao

Sadly, most of the stores I used are no longer in business, but I gaurantee stores like them still exist.

custom built curtains really helps with decoration. And colored storage peices help a ton too. since dormroom beds are often raised for storage purposes, I reccomend putting some curtains under your bed

This is so cute. Is the actual size of the bed too small for an adult? Now that tiny house aesthetics are in, I don’t think people immediately think loft bed = kids bed, so if it’s a regular sized bed on top I don’t think it would be weird to buy it as an adult

>> No.10424882

I think an adult would fit length wise, but the width could definitely be a problem if you're used to bigger beds. At any rate this bed is in the kids section (it's a Filmore). I think I'll check the measurements more carefully when I have time and think about it.

I checked and the top bunk is made to accommodate a twin size mattress, so 38 inch wide and 75 inch long / 96.5 cm side and 190.5 cm long. It's definitely smaller than my current bed but I'll advise. I've always dreamed of having a loft bed and while I know they're not convenient for many reasons, they also save a lot of space which I'm going to definitely need in the near future because I'm moving abroad.

Curious to see if anyone has experience with IKEA’s Leirvik bed frame? I’ve always adored it and the price is nice but the reviews online are all over the place

i've had this one for about 3 years now and love it! if you want an inexpensive cute frame then it's a good choice.
be aware though that putting it together is a bit of a pain - there's a bit where you need to fit the screws insite the side bars and if you're sensitive, the sound of wrench banging on the frame will drive you mad. don't repeat my mistake and make sure to wrap the handle with something before you start

My grandparents have this bed and they’ve had it for a REALLY long time. It’s quite sturdy (I jumped on it as a kid and it held up fine. I was a fat fuck when I was little too.) and really cute with floral sheets. My grandma uses the curls on the headboard to hang dried flowers and sachets too.

I have a bunch of old CUTIE Interior issues, would this be the right thread to post photos of that? (idk if anyone's interested, these might be super common and easily available for all I know)
Tomorrow though, it's late over here.

You can still have your floor to ceiling windows and an aesthetic house - just look at Victorian conservatories! I believe some older houses used covered glass walkways to help with warmth in the winter. Sadly, if he's into ultra-modern architectural clean lines it's probably not going to work if you want to build...
