i think it can look good, even on non-japanese. the main issue with the style is that most of the time the people into it are itas. it's super easy to make a good punk coord, with brands like maxi or putumayo (if you can get it) but many people gravitate to their ita shit. same for wa, but wa is much easier now that there are more styles besides bodyline tier yukata sleeves and skirt. the new AP wa set is a good example of something that looks cute without looking like some MMO costume.

Wa has an issue where the original is a nearly-floor-length cylinder, paired with ankle length socks (tabi) and slippers (zori etc). When it's adapted to lolita a lot of the original items like haori are too long and the wrong shape for lolita, the tabi socks look plain retarded (normally the plain top of the socks are covered by the kimono), the slippers look out of place, other things make it difficult for traditional inspiration to transfer directly into lolita.

By itself this problem isn't too bad if the folks doing wa lolita actually understand what looks good on their own body types and understand not to directly transfer things that don't look good.

But, it's compounded by the ita problem >>10416195 mentions, where the folks who are drawn to it the most are the weebs inspired by garish animu cartoons, and when it comes to coords they constantly place "muh fandom stfu u dun understand" priorities over actually looking decent. Thus, they shit out bad coords all the time, and that's before you add in the "normal ita" problems -- too poor/cheapskate resulting in shortcuts, too many loliables, poor colour choices, etc etc.

Punk just has the normal problems as gothic, people underestimate how "soft" and kawaii lolita is supposed to be -- even punk lolita has to be cute for it to be lolita. Generally people mix in too many edgy western punk/gothic stuff, sometimes in the name of "punk is about breaking da rrrurus". And then end up with some mismatched outfit that doesn't look cute.

I'm new to wearing lolita, I don't get to wear lolita at all in daily life and I can only wear it to events or photoshoots, so idk if this is relevant, but I am actually finding it easier to dress lolita-adjacent as I'm getting a little older. Not sure if this makes sense but in high school and college it was really difficult to dress in anything outside of the jeans + sweater norm, and now that I'm a working adult I can wear ruffly blouses to work and I don't look like I'm playing dress up if I wear more sophisticated styles. I'm mostly into classical and gothic lolita styles though, so it may be different for sweet lolitas. My expectation is that as I get older I can experiment more with wearing vintage/elegant styles in daily life that let me enjoy my favorite parts of lolita without wearing full lolita (long, full skirts/delicate blouses/ classic prints and colour schemes)

>Every year our customers enjoy our summer sales.
>This year, in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus we will be hosting our summer sale online. (Start: Thursday June 8th 12 P.M. JST)

>Because of the current restrictions on international packages, we are also unable to send orders overseas, so our sales have taken a big hit.
>If you look at the news, you see that even fast fashion brands that appeared to be thriving are now declaring bankruptcy and closing, our company is currently in a severe situation and I worry about what tomorrow holds for us.
>Today, on the day we have overcome this corona crisis and operate both the Osaka and Shinjuku stores as before, my honest feelings are that I want to be able to hold out long enough to resume overseas orders to lolitas.

As much as I'm still bitter about the way people treated VM's closing, no one wins when IW closes down. Even if the quality of their blouses and dresses went downhill the past couple of years, their boleros, socks and hair accessories are still good and extremely versatile and it would be a real shame if they closed.

>> No.10417364

I agree, they're my go-to when buying accessories new. I'd be devastated to see them go, they're by far the brand site I've bought most from over the years.

>> No.10417365

>>10417335
I used to be a generous IW supporter who made direct purchases with them 2-3 times a year since 2010, but I honestly can't justify it anymore. The last time was I was truly satisfied with their quality was around 2016/2017 and then their quality had a massive drop and everything I've bought since then had been terrible, especially the solids. Even though I still like some of their new designs I can already see just by looking at their stock images, that the dress will have no lining or supbar plasticky/wrinkly fabric and I just can't convince myself spending money on this. I'm solely supporting VM these days, no regrets.

The only thing really going for them these days is that they're cheap and in stock. Their boleros and accessories aren't as nice as other brands', and I basically only buy socks from them these days.

I actually like the new quality still but the designs are uglier. I wear both new and old IW and even though a lot of new releases are poly they are thick, non wrinkle poly. The lace and detailing is great and the fabric choices are different but practical. What I hate is super long length and lack of diversity in bodice cuts, but I still but 1-2 releases a year of the normal length dresses with decent bodice designs

I'm a sweet lolita that has admired IW for years. Now that I'm older I have been wanting to wear classic more and more (personal taste, i still plan to be sweet in my 30s as well). I have always heard that they are not for people with boobs or plus size because of the tube bodices? I hope to buy from them sometime soon. I only discovered how great Putumayo is after they closed down.

Also IW is very iconic and has their own style without too much bending to trends. I always appreciated that about them.

You know, ironically enough I have a feeling this is going to be both 100% polyester and also some kind of specialty fabric. You can kind see her skintone through the sleeves somewhat (the skirt is a lot whiter and opaque), and there's a sort of waffley waveyness to the fabric texture.

I think they actually picked this fabric because it's more interesting than your average quilting gingham fabric, but it's the same reason it's probably polyester.

I think it’s happened because the prices have effectively gone down by not raising the price with inflation. They also seem to be bouncing around between production facilities and it can be hard to maintain quality when that’s the case. Some are tubier than others but they definitely aren't cut with an hourglass in mind. They do sometimes come out with underbust jsks, bustiers, and other things that are more flattering on busts. Japan currently has a Refusal of Landing order that pertains to anyone that has been in the US for the past 14 days, or is a US citizen.
National postal systems rely on the space in passenger airplanes, so virtually no passenger flights == virtually no mail.

I haven’t read HP, so I don’t feel like my childhood has been ruined by changes made by her post publishing, and I don’t feel like they are necessary nor were they a good decision, but I feel like she is the perfect scapegoat for everyone to shit on.
Right says she is too inclusive and all that usually right stuff, left on the other hand says she’s “queer baiting” whatever that is, and now this drama. She is a rich woman so it’s easy to find faults with her from both sides, even if she isn’t nearly as bad as everyone makes her out to be.

this. Also she's just a dumn bitch in general. I agreed with her defending Maya but that's about it.
>BUT MUH MENSTRUASHUN
Not even all women menstruate due to various reasons and transmen only do because they are biologically female. this is a retarded argument and you know damn well it will stir shit on SNS.
I got nothing against real trans people though, only the autogynephiles and trenders that are far too many

I was so happy at that price, if I had already had it I would've bought the other colorway. It was hard to pick one, they're both beautiful

If only they made the four different tartan colours without adding any HP shit. I mean, I get that they may sell more, but I think they would look way more elegant and wearable (pic related). It looks way too cosplay / try-too-hard. Yes Karen, you are a Hufflepuff, you're 25, get your shit together

Cool assumptions which is why I was vague to begin with but actually I've never liked her cause I always knew she was a fucking hack.

Watch Troll. The main character is named Harry Potter.
Not to mention that whole scholastic thing where she paid some other author off even though she completely ripped them off.

She's always been trash and always will be trash. Her characters are all fake gay cause she realized her fans were gay.

I'm just glad it's finally ok to openly hate her annoying ass because I've always hated the Harry Potter series and now I finally don't have to hear about it at meets cause now it's taboo to talk about that shit.

GOOD.

My thing is that they’re so poorly made. AP has made really cute cutsew casual dresses in the past, but these are awful
