Have you seen what prize figures go for right now? Just a quick check on eBay

Ram in Wonderland Antique Ver - $30
Bang Dream! Ran - $48
Rem Jumper Swimsuit - $40
Rem Summer Beach - $25
and the Hatsune Miku x Rascal one is so new it's not even on eBay yet.

Believe me, it's definitely less expensive to play for them. Most I've spent is around $25 on one figure and that's because it got wedged in the machine.

Definitely legit. I used to play Toreba before it got rigged all to shit so I switched to the one I'm on now. Only bad thing I can say is that my prizes haven't been shipped in two weeks since they've decided to switch from DHL back to EMS because international mail is opening back up.

Proof prizes, the switch was for scale because I'm shit at figuring out prize sizes going off the CM and couldn't believe the size of the pompompurin

No prob! Going off the app reviews a lot of the players are ex-Toreba people. If you're unfamiliar with how Japanese arcade machines work, definitely stick to the takoyaki or pinball categories first. Takoyaki is no-skill and pinball is super easy since you just drop a ball down a ramp and hope it rolls into the win. They do have free machines you can use to get used to the system as well.

Has anyone tried to ship anything out with surface mail since the pandemic began? Obviously it wouldn't arrive yet but I was wondering if packages were even sent out from the post office.

I had a package ship from Japan via EMS and it got to me in roughly a month at the height of the mail shutdown.

I have two packages from China (both SAL) that are from late April and early May and neither have left China but little AliExpress packets have gotten to me in a month.

Meanwhile I've had two DHL packages from Japan arrive to me the same week they were shipped.

DHL is going to be your best bet for speed but it'll cost as well.

I'm in the US. I just got my package that was shipped EMS from Japan from April 7th! Everything I've shipped DHL since have arrived in around a week or so.

For China, I've been opting to ship DHL which is also quick though slightly slower than Japan for some reason (a little over a week, which isn't bad).

All you have to do is look on Japan Post's website to get this information. They are still not accepting e-packet or EMS to the USA. I'm sure when it becomes available, people will be celebrating on every jfashion corner of the internet.

Also keep in mind that once it becomes available again, there is going to be a huge rush to ship things. I foresee Japan Post only accepting a limited number of packages a day in order to not flood the postal system. I would highly suggest you use an alternative shipping method now so your packages don't get delayed by months.

You have to purchase your first points package to be eligible for free play tickets, I believe.

Past that you'll get 3 tickets a day. To be eligible to ship any prizes you'll have to get one of the points packages that has the free delivery ship ticket in it and you can get one of those a week when you purchase a minimum 5,000 yen package if you're outside of Japan.

I just play so much that I don't think about it because I'm constantly getting free tickets and I get a delivery ticket every Wednesday because that's my routine.

Hello fellow gulls. I am interested in buying from Japan, but most shipping isn't available for my country right now. I know Yamato is available, but I don't really want to use that since once it gets to my country ups receives it and then add more costs and at least here is quite expensive. I think dhl is also available and may be a better option, but I am not sure since I've used it only once and it was from China. It didn't add any extra costs.

So my question is, for those gulls that used dhl from Japan, did it add extra fees or no? I know it's quite expensive but it seems fast and if it doesn't have any extra fees, it may be the best choice for me. Thanks in advance.

>> No.10427133

>>10426816
I'm in the US. I haven't tried shipping via Yamato, but have used DHL more than a few times in the last months. DHL is super fast and I haven't had issues with customs yet even with huge orders (all under the 800 USD customs limit though).

What do you mean by extra costs? Like if it costs more? I guess you can consider if you really need the stuff from Japan during this time and decide whether it's worth potentially paying a bit more or not. Maybe someone else can chime in here. It's basically the only option we have now anyway (besides sea or Yamato)...

I find DHL has been pretty comparable to EMS for me so far. I pulled up a comparison of a past EMS package and a recent DHL package, both shipped by ZenMarket. Here's what the costs ended up being, and the volume + weight of both:

EMS: 40cm × 35cm × 24cm; weight 3660g. Cost: 7300yen
DHL: 40cm × 35cm × 22cm, weight 3990g. Cost: 6363yen

Not sure if the extra 2cm box size for EMS made the cost so much higher since DHL was also heavier, but hopefully it gives some idea. YMMV!

Oh! Thanks a lot for the info, what I meant by "extra costs" I meant charging extra fees when the package arrives to the destination country, like customs fees or delivery to your home. Sorry for being kinda vague, should've clarified that better.

I am not from the US, but I've noticed these private couriers works in a similar way here.

I have also compared between EMS and DHL for my country and the prices are really close, so if it doesn't add any extra costs when arriving to my country it seems like a very fair option. I think I will try to contact them, or check their webpage for more info.

Again, thank you so much for providing me your experience. Take care Anon!

Oh sorry, I thought you were in the US since you mentioned UPS! I found a quite old fril listing with absolutely awful listing photos for about ~10k yen? Maybe a tiny bit more? Extrapolating from the description and the photos themselves there wasn't really any damage, the seller was just bad at taking photos and presumably that's why nobody bought the dress. It's not Toreba, it's claw.jp which is in my opinion significantly less rigged because they're less greedy than Toreba. At least with this site I see workers actually helping players win when they've been playing a bit. I've almost whacked an employee in the head with a claw by accident because they suddenly appeared to help me.

If you're on claw.jp I have some tips:

1. you get 3 free tickets per day if you've bought points in the past 5 days (I thought it was 7 but I just had to ask about it when I didn't get mine since I'm not buying points now)

2. Right now you get 3 more tickets if you win your first prize of the day. My tip for this is go for the takoyaki (normal or bingo) or pinball category. Pinball is the easiest I think but I have better luck on takoyaki for some reason.

3. If you're doing points, wait for the 99p sales at night. Prizes are random so if you're not picky it's a good deal.

4. If you find a prize that's easy to grab with the western style 3-claw machine, play it as long as you can and just gift/resell the extras (see >>10423093 >>10423118 ). It'll make up for any money you spend on other machines where it's a bit trickier but the prize is something you want.

5. Be a machine vulture. This is how I got most of my prizes. I'll browse around and find machines that are in use and just hop in the queue. Several times now I've waited in queue 10-15 mins and an attendant was helping a player win and then the player would just get fed up and leave and I'd get the prize in one play. Helps with the takoyaki machines as well with other players filling them up and then leaving, then you just get lucky.

Ran out of room before I got to my last tip that I can think of.

6. Machine 'cheat'. I keep several tabs open on claw.jp because they reuse their machines. For example: the pinball category has over a dozen prizes listed you can play for with costs between 98-200p.. but they're all the same machine.

When I was competing in their ranking cup last month I boosted my standing by playing a machine set-up I liked (ball rolling or B clips) and I'd play one of the 98p prizes (often Sanrio markers) and get it within 1 play of winning then switch to a 150p prize (Mt Fuji glasses or the Maru de Pan bread pouches) and win the prize because they shared the same machine.

Sorry for the lengthy ramblings but I'm a bit of a UFO catcher/claw machine otaku with nowhere else to talk about this.

Please, if you consider yourself a claw machine otaku and have fun rambling about it, I wouldn't mind a 'how to get started' guide or any other info/experience you have collected so far. I don't know if I'll get into it anytime soon (just spent way too much on dresses, wigs and blouses that I'm still waiting for), but I'm saving all of this for the future for sure.

It's definitely fun to do, especially now that I'm saving money by not buying cosplays or going to conventions due to covid. Ironically I have a trip to Japan scheduled in the next few months where I'm literally two doors down from a massive Taito Station and probably won't be able to go now.

If you want to see a neat guide on little tricks (and get a laugh) I highly recommend this guy and his works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFgFhby7SdE

I want to make a tiny Japonica order but the note on their homepage about "not accepting first-time customers" is making me hesitate. I'm not a first-time customer by any means - I spent a fair amount of money with them last year - but I'm wondering if they'd rather not take on new orders at all right now, and if they did, would it be a while before they made the purchases? I appreciate that they typically snap things up very quickly where other services can be slower.

Anyone familiar with any other shopping services that'll buy from mercari, have a similar fee structure to JM and aren't bursting at the seams with four month's worth of held packages? I don't like DeJapan (won't underdeclare) or Buyee (high fees, won't underdeclare, shit packaging) and WRE seems to have exorbitantly high fees.

tl;dr can you all stop stockpiling your shit at Mr Tajima's office pls literally all I want is a LL dress and a toy unicorn >:(

If they accept your order, they'll buy it ASAP and business will proceed as usual - there's been no difference in waiting times or ordering since before the pandemic. The only difference has been at the end when they get all the items, they'll hold it indefinitely for you or ship it out DHL if you request it.

if your order is just those 2 things though, you could ask Tenshi, she's pretty quick and can ship it out with Yamato - small packages are about $25 shipped and takes a little less than a week to arrive, so not bad

What's your experience using SAL to ship from Japan to Canada? It seems that SAL costs half of what EMS would cost but Japan Post estimates that it would take 2 months. Is it worth it to save 100-200 dollars on shipping costs by waiting this long? Will it take substantially longer than 2 months? I use surface mail whenever it's available (Japan to UK.) Prior to covid it would take 2 months on the dot from the day it left Kawasaki Port to its arrival at UK customs, however at the moment it's closer to 2 1/2- 3 months.

I love it because it's cheap and I don't care about the wait. The parcels definitely do arrive looking slightly more battered than if they'd just been on a plane - not really an issue for clothing but I had a Swimmer jewellery box get damaged in transit this way, so I'd be cautious buying from places that are known to skimp on packaging (Tenso & Buyee spring to mind. Zenmarket is great however.)

I've never had anything go missing over the years, ranging from small items (used to order a lot of aerosol varnishes for BJDs before they became more freely available here) to big boxes of clothes/books/figures. Obviously that has no bearing on future probability but it's certainly a safe shipping method. Good to bear in mind that there are more "stops" on a surface mail journey so technically there are more opportunites for something to go astray, but it doesn't put me off.

>> No.10459205

Anyone else's mail taking much longer than normal?

I have a parcel going to US and it's been over a month (usually takes about two weeks).

Another one going from China to Canada and according to tracking it arrived at a distribution center and then has been sitting there since 12th.

I'm trying to open and inquiry for the US parcel (local post keeps asking me to fill in endless forms while I'm just trying to figure out where the parcel went...), is it the covid that's still messing with things or is one of the parcels lost or something?

Currently stuck in wunderwelt purgatory. I'm excited to make the gothic side of my wardrobe more wearable for everyday this winter or add some MMM to oldschool items. I’m really frustrated about how long my taobao order of blouses and basics is taking to come in? It was supposed to be delivered around the 14th but it’s only entered the country on the 20th (EU) and it hasn’t updated since then.
I ordered shoes off aliexpress in July and they arrived in under two weeks and got an order from Japan in just about a week too the same month.
I’m not in any rush but it’s still disappointing and even frustrating how long it’s taking. Hopefully my proxy order from Japan won’t take as long as this taobao order, it’s my first purchase from Y!AJ and I’m really excited for it.
Anybody else in the EU having to wait for what seems forever too?

imo it depends on what you're buying! There is a markup but depending on what you buy it's not that much more than a regular SS. The main plus of devilinspired (and similar taobao reseller sites) is that you can browse in English and order a huge variety of brands/products easily.

Like if you want to buy a big haul of Christmas stuff:
https://www.devilinspired.com/Christmas-Lolita

It's like regular online shopping, vs going on taobao and searching through multiple different brand pages to find their Christmas releases, then telling your SS you want 13 items from 7 different brands.
