There’s already a blue one on fril going for 10K yen

I got the OP in my first colorway choice and I'm so happy I could cry.

I missed it on the JP site and of course it immediately went for practically 500+. Then I missed ICP and the necklace which I was super sad about. For some reason I didn't think Topping Heart would be on the US shop because it is so coveted already so I can't believe I managed to get it. After life kicking me a lot while I was down and then missing out on ICP and another dream print, it is really nice that I was able to snag such a gorgeous dress that I never thought I would get to own. And it's cotton too, I can't believe it.

>> No.10456765

>>10456764
I really wanted to like Topping Heart and I was originally excited for it, but so many design elements were just off for me - the long limp bows, the pure lace waist ties, the way the sax and blue layers blend together and become oddly lavender (I really dislike lavender), every AP dress having an A-line shape instead of a bell, etc.

I hope you like it anon. I was impressed the base of the dress was cotton, and I wish it had just a few differences.

>>10456764
I didn’t buy Topping Heart in the Japan release because I thought it would be unpopular and stay in stock, and ended up buying other dresses between then and now so I couldn’t afford to go for the US release. Nonprint AP usually doesn’t retain value well though so I’m hoping to find it secondhand.

>> No.10456816

>>10456765
I definitely agree with you in terms of the JSK, but the OP luckily doesn't have those same issues and can be worn with both a bell and a-line petti. One of my friends managed to get it and it's stunning in person, the details are incredibly gorgeous and it is the first dress I have seen in a very long time where the construction is so well done and perfect. I was worried about the waist ties too but they actually look really nice, surprisingly. And thank you, it is very exciting!

>>10456767
I hope you can manage to get it one day, I'm so sorry you missed it and I definitely know that feeling. That is typically true for their nonprints, but this one of the few that became pretty coveted right away, which I agree it is pretty surprising to see it sell for so much second hand. But I hope you can manage to find it for close to retail in the future, it is lovely!

Thing is making decisions about sizing and quality is up to AP no matter of text. Petition is made to show that people are actually willing to buy the thing when it's back in stock. SC petition says "every cut and colourway", but they might end up doing jsk's only in say pink and sax (and navy, hopefully :P ).

This is what I've used to think special set color is called. Anyway they did rerelease Strawberry Doll set before, plus let's not forget CTP MTO. It's not that impossible.

I honestly don't know how to feel about rare items rereleases. It's completely understandable why people are not amused with petitioning, overpaying for a dress to see everyone and their cat wearing it sucks. At another hand people are struggling to catch sweet things second hand, especially with current pricing.

>> No.10456937

Strawberry Doll had the MTO the same year the dress was originally released. Im not even going to get into you mentioning CTP because it’s not relevant.

If they do rerelease a dress that’s over ten years old, they’re not going to include the special color. I can’t stop anyone from dreaming but I would stake my bank account and my house on it.

Not really? I've had to make dresses smaller before and it isn't all that hard. Especially with AP because when they size up pieces the bust cup size doesn't get any bigger, they just make it for a wide flat person. My weight fluctuates up and down an extreme amount because of my health condition so in various stages of lolita I've made stuff a little bigger and smaller. Both are an inconvenience but hardly difficult. Tbh though with making things smaller it is not exactly worth the time since it doesn't increase the comfort of the dress a significant amount more.

Can someone please explain to me how a re-release is bad considering:

1. If they re-release in poly like HC, the original cotton versions just appreciate and sell for more, becoming even more coveted? (When I got my HC MTO and didn't like the poly, I unexpectedly sold it for double of what I paid.)

2. If they re-release in cotton, it is still a niche fashion so even if every lolita bought it that's still not that many people compared to the rest of the world and eventually they will become coveted again since a MTO is still a finite amount of dresses with new people entering the fashion all the time. Just look at holy lantern. Only CTP's was affected but it already sells more than retail.

I own various Sugary Carnival and Milky Planet cuts/colorways and would still do the MTO in cotton for a few more because nothing beats buying new from the brand.

Re-releases are only a positive thing.

No I agree, cotton would be best. I hated the poly HC too as the ivory looked so dull. But when I sold the MTO it already appreciated double of when I ordered it, so I only benefitted from that. If you check LM it is only going up in price as well. So technically, that profit could be used towards paying more for a cotton version second hand.

I don't care about crispness that much. Cotton prints are crisp enough for me. I don't need miniscule text reading from 10ft away if it means my dress feeling like a garbage bag and looking painfully shiny. HC was enough for me to know cotton is better for my personal tastes and I'd rather some things come out more blurred or just designed slightly differently on cotton than easily damaged poly that looks crisp but keeps poorly otherwise and is less visually appealing to me. That is just my own preference though. If I wanted perfectly crisp visible lineart I'd just buy taobao.

Why are there so many AP haters coming out of the woodwork pretending to be one of us? I keep hearing the anti-poly thing parroted by retards who don't understand textiles at all, I honestly haven't seen any quality decrease in anything I've actually bought. All of my cotton shit has deteriorated, wrinkled, faded after normal occasional wear and if Milky Planet, Jewelry Jelly, Memorial Cake etc came out in poly I would be ecstatic because they would probably hold up much better than my other shit has held up after 10 years. >retards who don't understand textiles at all
Natural fibers (aka cotton) will always be considered more luxurious than man-made materials. It's not that we prefer old designs, it's that polyester, even if it's good, will feel/look cheaper. Yes, cotton has a shorter life span, but so does silk/wool/etc.

There's been a lot of limp, sad looking dresses by AP recently that would have had a better shape and feel with cotton. You might be a troll though, so I'm not going to bite this bait too hard.

I mainly don't wear them because I don't like the look, but they really aren't that much worse than other stuff.
