I spent a copious amount of money on lolita clothes, but all I got instead was a bunch of idiots trying to manage my dressing habits + a chunk of clothes that look ridiculously juvenile on any adult person, and you don't even start with your "you can wear what you want" bullshit, I had it enough. My stuff is not really hyped besides some pieces, so I'm barely get my money back.

Fuck you too man.

That's what you get for wanting to purchase that juvenile shit without having any semblance of a plan on how to dress it in a respectable way. Wouldn't it be easier if you just had better taste? And some patience maybe? Wow, imagine if you had bought clothes that brought you joy and didn't overspend "a copious amount of money" at once, instead spreading it out over years as your tastes develop?

But who am I? One of the idiots trying to manage your dressing habits, am I right? Yeah, fuck you too.

I'll take what you don't want OP. Getting into lolita has been the best thing for me.
>I've learned how to sew and repair clothes
>Learned how to actually style my hair
>Enjoying skincare and exercise
>Having fun looking pretty and cute for myself
>even my normal wardrobe has gotten better
>Inspired to bake so I can host tea parties
It's a nice sense of pride I found in myself that I can happily take into old age.

I felt this to a degree because I got into lolita right before the pandemic, in January. I couldn't really use my new clothes to go anywhere, so I regretted spending this much money (but was still very happy about owning the dresses I bought with it).
Well I had to go run errands in the city last week, and dressed up for it. No regrets anymore. I felt amazing, and looked so cute.

In conclusion: 2020 is a shit year to get into a streetfashion, but it'll be worth the wait. In the meantime, do some research and gather coord inspiration?

My clothes aren't tight, I've got an 80cm bust and a 58 cm waist so that's not the issue. I just feel bulky af in lolita. Its fine when I'm out because if anything it creates personal space, but at home I just feel huge.

It’s fucking exhausting experience. Many layers turn heavy as you walk around, you gotta watch the petty around many things, flashy clothes gives emotional fatigue because it draws your own attention constantly. I come home tired while wearing casual clothes, where am I supposed to get energy for wearing something so effort costing. And what for should I do that at the end of the day? Lolita is a static fashion, it’s only good for posing. Walking in petti makes you look like a fucking duck. People aren’t looking lively or energetic in lolita, they rather look like a mannequins showcasing the stuff that is supposed to cover their bodies up to the point it’s completely different character (I mean wigs, false lashes, makeup, etc)

Hard disagree anon. I find that wearing lolita out and about is energizing and exhilarating. No emotional fatigue here.

Maybe you're agoraphobic or have really bad social anxiety, if people looking at you makes you feel emotionally fatigued. That sounds like how I felt when I was in the throes of my agoraphobia and would get panic attacks when my mom insisted I ride through a drive through with her, and I'd hide my face like some sort of hostage. There are workarounds for this like short sleeves. Gloves while cleaning, etc. But the real issue is you are wearing stuff that doesn't fit. Limited range of motion due to broad shoulders only exists if your blouses are too tight. Blouses typically have buttons at the bottom cuffs if long sleeved, and you can unbutton that to roll them up.

Nothing is wrong with preferring to wear casual clothes at home but going through day to day life wearing lolita is not impossible if you have clothes that fit comfortably and aren't made from cheap or fragile material.

>You cant deny social dynamics, not a trust worthy member of society
Lol, what. You know that plenty of lolitas go to work in this fashion right? And you know that there's a time and place to wear it, right? If you work in construction or business, of course you're not going to wear lolita. If you work at a job with lax dress code, no one cares what you wear because others are dressed in their own non-conforming ways. One of my site directors wore MLP shit and we've had plenty of goth employees. If you're going out to a museum, park, cafe, groceries, whatever then it really doesn't matter what other people think at all.

The good news is that Lolita has a much higher resale value than most other hobbies, and hasn’t gone the way of the beenie baby yet.

Sounds like you’re a bit bitter. I will say tho, there is this weird two sided thing I think newbies get confused on. On the one hand Lolita is often seen as a freedom, and the whole wear what you want and fuck normie opinions rhetoric gets thrown around a lot. On the other hand, within the fashion you can expect pretty aggressive scrutiny for wearing anything other lolitas don’t like, or mixing styles and taking risks. Don’t get it confused. The freedom to dress how you want only applies if you’re rocking Lolita in a normie world, within the Lolita world there’s basically no freedom at all to operate without scrutiny unless you don’t share your images, and even then another member of your own comm might post them elsewhere.
