Made an order on lolita collective, 4 out of the 6 things I bought were damaged. The gloves I got didn't match the stock photos. The rings were rusted, the fuzzy rings were brown and stained and hairy, and the star clips had stains on the glitter that won't come out. Also, one of the accessories is literally a daiso baby hairclip with the tulle taken off and upsold. I contacted the owner and she said, "do you want a replacement?" And I told her no, I need a refund, and she never replied... $80 bucks down the drain and their shipping is $30?? Why do they ship in separate boxes? It's so wasteful. And I didn't get one of the packages until 2 months after I ordered. Not impressed.

It’s probably because Lolita collective is pretty well known to be incredibly aggressive and influential in many convention circles. They’re super shitty to their partners ( which is why they only have partners that nobody wants to buy from) and a lot of the stuff they sell is just taobao crap at a 10x markup. I've bought from ccf. Bought a pink and blue pair; both nice quality. Same as Antaina but more expensive in my opinion. Not worth buying from if u live in the US. Customs fucking thinks my package carries drugs every time i bought from them or melikestea and always damages the goods inside. I bought a heart bag from ccf; ok quality but too expensive shipping wise. I rather buy brand for that price. Also, again, customs ripped up my package and duct taped it like it was a post rape victim. I sold the heart bag bc i was just tired of being reminded of how awful the packages are treated.

I will never understand why any of these indie brands do “custom” sizing. It’s a logistical and cost nightmare, plus if someone gets a custom fit and it’s not perfectly fitted, they are gonna be much more pissed than if a regular garment doesn’t fit quite right.

If they were really concerned about plus size people, why not use a cut similar to those meta and baby dresses that go from 70-130 cm? I guess that would involve investing a decent amount of money into the tech pack/fabrics and you know for a $200 dress apparently you can’t have that.

Ordered a JSK from them. I originally placed my order around the ending of Feb 2020. When I first asked, they said that it would take around 25-35 days to make. Because of covid restrictions where they're based that became way longer of course. I was pretty understanding but I made sure to check in once in a while and they were pretty good with communication. Dress was ready by April but I didnt get it until June again because of covid.

Do I think it would have taken that long without covid? Maybe, maybe not as a lot. I will disclose that they did request I pay an additional $10 for shipping as the shipping fee was increased on their end, again because of covid. I believe before the shipping was included in the cost. Maybe I was taken for a bit of a ride but at that time I just wanted my shit lol.

For construction, everything looks good. No stray threads, wonky measurements etc. I had a friend of mine look it over as she's a seamstress and she was pretty pleased with it so that reassured me. One thing is that it came with these heart pockets in the front. In the pics they looks decently sized but are actually pretty small irl. Just big enough for chapstick or a keycard.

Would I order from them again? Probably but not in the near future.

I've only been collecting pieces for 3 or 4 years as a huelita and somehow this doesn't surprise me. 500~ Real for a bag seems kind of overkill, you can get JP brand secondhand or taobao for cheaper even including shipping. Brazilians don't buy from CCF mainly because the new prices aren't in tune with our financial reality. Unless you need very specific colors or huge sizes, it's better to go straight to Bodyline or other normie brands and embrace DIY. For sweetfags, however, there isn't many choices out there. GB is very limited, the quality of the shoes is worse than CCF's, the prices are not that inclusive and people are not willing to risk their hard earned money with a brand that scammed many buyers in the past during one of the national meetings, me included.

since moving abroad I've noticed how the Brazilian comm insists on supporting their friend's brands blindly, ignoring their problems and making every single negative feedback sound like a personal attack

Both owners of CCF and GB have made many enemies in the community, so whatever claims people bring without proof should be taken with a grain of salt.

and as misery loves company, importing is ridiculously expensive with or latest exchange values. So people either buy one expensive pair of shoes that is easy to coord with everything else, or they just stick to normie brands and second hand market.

can't speak on CCF shoes, but I do own the bubble heart 3-way bag in pink. It is one of my favorite bags but its not perfect.

Pros-
-Beautiful shade of pink
-Giant bag with lots of space
-love being able to use it as a hand bag or a back pack
-very striking and eye catching piece and looks really good with almost any pink OTT coord

Cons
- All of the edges of the ruffles are raw, for better use of a word. They don't have a sealed edge that I'm used to purses having. which gives me anxiety that they may become more easily damaged
- The pleather seems to crease and fold really easily, which also might lead to cracking and peeling eventually
-since the bag is so heavy, you HAVE to hang it or lay it on its back to the weight doesn't bend the pleather ruffles and damage them

I have only had it for half a year, and with covid I don't go out in coords as often as I did, so I guess only time will tell how sturdy the bag is and how well it will keep up, but so far its still in perfect condition.

One of the original Lady Sloth anons from a while ago here just to give a quick update. I'm glad these threads are still going.

I placed an order with them back in September. By December I still hadn't heard anything about the status of my order. When I'd placed my order initially their website had said they shipped out orders in a few weeks but at some point they updated that to say something like 6-8 weeks. Some of my items were intended for winter wear (long sleeved blouses for example) so when I placed my order in September I assumed I'd be getting them in time to wear them.

One of the items in my order was the Spirit Board preorder thing. When I placed the order they'd listed an estimated arrival date in October or November iirc.

I sent them a message in December asking about my order, since at that point it had been 12+ weeks since I'd placed it. I understand they were dealing with Covid and whatnot, but I expected some level of communication when orders were taking so much longer than advertised.

They replied back about a week later saying that Spirit Board orders would ship after Christmas. (Though, they didn't say anything like "the rest of your order is completed" or anything like that so for all I know they haven't even started on it, OTL.) Obviously it's late January now and I still haven't heard anything about my order shipping out. So technically yes, it's "after Christmas" but I'd assumed that meant shipping it early January after the holidays, not "just in time for summer!"

If my order ever arrives I'll be sure to update you guys on the quality and construction.

It made me never want to buy from them again (especially because I was like 14 and had to beg my dad to do it) but now I’m wondering if I just got a weird dud and they’re otherwise fine.

I doubt she'd work with them to create something of low quality and if it isn't super pretty it's fine if the construction is solid; it goes under your outfit anyway right?

But it’s not just pettis, it’s also cutsews and presumably accessories and so on. There’s already a ton of dance companys making pettis, and people have used them for Lolita for ages. Not to give myself away, but awhile back I got a huge boost in my sales and following with the return of sweet, and Lor followed my profile. Then she pmd me about some stuff that she really liked and low key asked for free merch in exchange for a shout out. I kinda awkwardly avoided answering it directly since my stuff is really labor intensive and I’m sold out pretty much all the time but I also don’t want to hurt my business with any potential drama from sending something rude in a dm.

Anywho, she unfollowed me after I didn’t have anything to send her, so maybe one of the reasons why she’s repping for these kinda of brands is because small brands in the community aren’t willing to give her freebies.

TLDR: Lor works for freebies and commissions and existing indie brands either don’t need to or can’t afford to do that.

This. It's actually really conceited when lolitas with 500+ followers assume that they are doing your indie brand some huge favor by asking for free products in exchange a post. I'm so fucking tired of it, especially since my business is Black-owned and everyone suddenly thinks that it's their SJW duty to ask me for free shit so that they can "promote" Black businesses, which is really just them trying to promote themselves.

If you really want to support indie lolita shops, buy from them. It's that simple.

Has anyone bought the headbow and face mask for Otome Nostalgia? I've heard that the headbow was poorly constructed in the previous thread and was generally not a fan of how big it looked. I was theorizing cutting up the facemasks to make smaller bows and sewing them onto barrettes for some more subtle headwear. Nayrt but to be fair the people criticizing it looking boring are not neccesarily the same people complaining repeatedly about them "not being a real lolita brand" and "taking advantage of the community for a quick buck"; that sounds like a strange vendetta or obsession with the fact I guess Lor isn't hand sewing all their stuff or whatever so they don't think they're a real indie brand? Even though many indie jfashion brand owners just handle design and prototypes and outsource labor. Of course there are probably better more established brands to get pettis from like MLT that have cuter designs and more color options so for that reason alone MLT is far better.

I agree they're boring, even considering what >>10550075 said about them being basics; I, like another anon upthread have bought and hate the shapeless cheap heart mesh fabric on the black and white cutsew sleeves and the photo Lor posted even in the pink one looks weird fit wise. If you read the explanation upthread, that has nothing to do with it. People are upset about that because Lor picked out this company that didn't make lolita items before and told them to start making them. It's not that people want everything to be handmade, it's that this brand isn't interested in lolita or in the community and are just doing this as a side project during the pandemic, which I think people aren't realizing. Lor could have easily picked a small brand that already catered to lolita, it's not as if every company isn't struggling, but she chose this company that is uninterested in the lolita community outside of her, just she bought shitty dance pettis from them before.

I guess I am assuming it's because it is far easier to work with a local business than have to deal with mail and travel for testing prototypes and whatnot, plus she specified wanting people to have access to a North American (as in, Canada or US based) company making lolita goods for shipping reasons since many non-Asian indie brands are in Europe or South America, etc.

I also don't know if this business is doing this only for the pandemic, this is their second sort of release so it could be a long term thing, and there isn't technically anything wrong with establishing a new lolita brand.

I guess I'm just not as offended by this as others? I don't wanna buy any of their products for reasons I already stated, but they don't piss me off or make me feel uncomfy or whatever the way some people are.

Some people have given their answers as well and I personally think it's less giving the brand help and more Lor wanting to do something despite not having very good skills in anything involving textiles or design. She studied film related creative stuff I think, and her fans had supposedly been asking her for products or merch to support her according to someone itt, so this was a practical way to do the community a favor by allowing people in Canada and the states to get more affordable basic pettis initially. I think it was also helping herself both feel good because she is overly nice and can feel like she is helping a business, and make a bit of cash since living off just YouTube and Patreon can't be that lucrative considering she has multiple roommates in her Toronto apartment despite her small level of lolita efame and multiple income sources.

Did y'all really want Lor to work with an up and coming small lolita brand anyway considering her freebies for a shoutout type approach that we already addressed people can't afford or don't need her for?

>Some of you sound like indie brand owners who are mad you didn't have the idea/following to do it first or something

This is exactly my thought, reading through this thread lol

A lot of indie brands have issues with basic sewing quality because they're made by girls who start as hobbyist sewers... So in a sense, I sort of trust an already established tailor in another area moreso to create quality basics that don't require a lot of aesthetic work (like dresses, etc).

As long as the quality is at least decent, it's fine with me. It's not like people don't sell off their newbie purchases and buy better stuff as they go on, anyway.

Assuming anons are corrext that it is laser cut acrylic, acrylic in specific colors can be pricey because few shops sell them or many sell wholesale only in bulk, etc. plus the costs of membership to a digital fabrication space or price of a laser cutter and ventilation (fab space memberships vary wildly in price, even the cheapest consumer grade desktop laser cutters can be thousands to start, if you have a full size one you need a space with good airflow and a reasonable amount of room).

They also need to pay themselves for the design and shipping work, pay for the website and fees to payment processors, pay themselves for the time they spend on the promo artwork/prints, etc. I can see how it would be labor or time or cost intensive at various points especially cause they're a new shop so they haven't neccesarily figured out how to maximize efficiency and cut costs as well as a more experienced shop yet.

Many indie lolita brand shops are not doing lolita products as their full time income or if their sales drop people don't lose jobs and homes and physical storefronts. I see nothing shady or wrong about them wanting to pursue this project with people in the community helping and contributing, I really don't get why a couple anons are so offended by this eeven though I'm not a fan of their pieces. Like call the pettis and cutsews ugly and basic (they mostly are) sure, but this moralfagging about how the business is so evil for accepting an offer to do something that helps North American lolitas get some cute things without the crazy pandemic shipping hell and keeps food on people's tables during a tough time just seems retarded.

>> No.10552444

>>10552432
Idk why people keep mentioning CAD. You don't need 3D modeling to make laser cut jewelry. You just need any vector program like Adobe Illustrator and to plan out your drawings in 2D for each layer of acrylic. The lack of tech savvyness is not what makes their designs feel off, it's the color choices, poorly thoughtout AP copycat logo, weird need to be edgy cute ("twisted beating heart", skulls on the cupcake jewelry, vampire themed lemonade, stupid ":3" face cat on the strawberry jewelry, etc.)

Their first collection was okay, but their stuff keeps getting worse and they generally have poor design sensibilities. Calling their jewelry etsy level is unfair to etsy because some etsy shops have good pieces while some are trash hobbyists. They charge brand prices so they should be held to brand standards anyway and right now they aren't at brand level. I think they need to take some classes on jewelry making or general graphic design skills to improve.

I just assumed they were machining it. If it's just vector based that's somehow even worse. Take that heart lollipop necklace. The proportions are so off. It's thick, clunky and the stick to heart ratio is just weird. If all you need is a vector, these are all painfully easy problems to fix.

They're not at a level where they should be selling for even a quarter of the price they are now. I can get LUSA for $20-$30, and it's fucking fabulous. I can get BB&B for half the price, and they're pretty incredible in their quality, even if they don't have the plastic style.

Based on close up photos of the edges of the rings, they are 100% using a laser cutter and using a raster etching or engraving function for the logo that they then paint in or whatever. The tiny ridges you see are common if you look super close at laser cut acrylic that hasn't been finished in any way. They need to either use thinner acrylic or balance out proportions far better.

If they did want to use CAD they could model these in 3D in a program like Fusion360 for free based on the material thickness and then get vector cutting patterns from there, but they could also just do basic prototyping and tests with AI and not just come up with one pattern or design and call it a day.

They could also look into coating some sections of the products in glitter or something for more visual interest so it's not just flat colored shiny plastic. Their angel cupcake ring almost goes there with the metallic or reflective halo and heart but that whole theme was odd anyway.

The shop isn't open rn, but do they make jewelry too? Their shit on insta is so cute but most of what I'm seeing looks to be pins or figures.

What are y'all's thoughts on Peacockalorum? They were my first pair of lolita wristcuffs but after I've bought multiple pairs from Angelic Pretty, BTSSB, and Atelier Pierrot, the lace and construction looks like absolute shit in comparison. I'm thinking about just throwing them away instead of selling them on LM.

Tbh I still think they’re cute in photos, but everyone who’s seen them in person says what you do so I wouldn’t buy them

Damn I really wish people disclosed this before I bought them as a babylita. They do look passable in photos tho ngl

Their wristcuffs are shit and if you order anything red they may mix red and wine together instead of using matching lace colors. I buy brand wristcuffs only these days, occasionally nice taobao ones.

Hopping on this, can anyone review the Otome Nostalgia main pieces? I'm in love, missed out on the reservations and wondering if it's worth paying full price secondhand.

>> No.10553134

>>10553129
I don't think it's awful but I also don't think it's worth full price. Definitely not for the headbow. It has weird proportions/sits oddly. I got the OP in red and while I like and wear it, I hate that when I bend over or twist around the belt comes undone/loose so easily, especially since my waist is substantially smaller than my bust so it causes the dress to look kind of baggy easily if you're moving around. If you really like the print it's worth it, but the material isn't the most comfortable and feels/looks like it would get a run or pull in the fabric a bit easily.

Side note: anyone know the brand of wristcuffs the model in the photo is wearing? I really want some nice torchon lace wristcuffs.

I heard it's getting a restock soon so you won't have to hunt for it secondhand at least

>>10553134
Would replacing the belt help with that?

>> No.10553158

Yeah for sure; I like the heart buckle on this one though so I still try to wear it lol

>> No.10553215

Someone I follow on IG ordered the biggest size and said the waist was really low, meanwhile I ordered the smallest size and the waist is way too high. There seems to be a huge patterning issue between sizes. For reference, I'm about 160cm and the dress sits higher than my natural waist. Also seconding the thing about the belt, it's so thin and doesn't stay at all.

>> No.10553216

>>10553215
I have the biggest size and maybe it's because of my bust measurement but the waist sits high in the front and buttons have bad gaping issues despite being well within the size range listed for the OP and just wearing a thin cotton bralette to reduce any bulk.

I'm seeing a lot of people selling Otome Nostalgia, what's wrong with it?

Its probably too hard to coord
the print doesn’t go with most other accessories . I almost think it’s not lolita anymore, just straight up jfash

I get what you mean.. The only good coords I have seen were combined with other main pieces. Not even sure I would call picrel lolita

>> No.10553431

>>10553423
Oof...yeah even picrel is a bit out there and i’m not sure i dig it.
They should have also gone for the jfash crowd and just made it a cute minidress, or just a shirt cutsew, which would be so much easier to coord. I would buy the fuck out of it if it were more harajuku style (for lack of a better word)

they look like baby wristcuffs to me

I sewed a snap in to my otome nostalgia belt, now it stays and I don't have to worry about it

>> No.10553490

>>10553482
Idk why I didn't think of this! The interfacing in the belt is really thick and papery so I didn't even consider sewing anything to it, what size snaps did you use?

>> No.10553502

>>10553482
Oh, that's exactly what I was going to do! I'm glad it worked.

VF didn't include the headdress in my package (I pre ordered skirt + tights + brooch, then ordered headdress and they said to put in notes to ship w my order). I emailed them Thursday and no response, so I suppose I'll email them again. / sigh / My first ordering experience with them has been hectic. Their communication isn't timely, but they're always on IG.

Their communication and organizations is quite shit and they just straight up lie or if you want to give them benefit of the doubt, forget to do what they say they will for people.

I think I like it for the busy, ugly factor. But I only like the skirt. It's hard to coordinate; I think it is best kept simple.

Imo this retro shoujo style is starting to become trendy which is why the series did so well. I love it too so im not complaining.

>> No.10553547

They arent the same aesthetics. AP is doing retro Americana 50s diner style normally.

The style of otome nostaglia and other brands doing similar aesthetics is like 60-70s childrens Asian retro
