There's plenty of places that are tourist spots where it would still be tasteless to treat it as the backdrop for an editorial: the tomb of the unknown soldier, Holocaust museums, generally any place that is a memorial to dead people. I think graveyards are beautiful and I've 100% gone out of my way to visit nearby gravesites of true crime victims whose stories made me sad, but I didn't go in a full lolita coord or even take any photos of myself or my friend that came with me because it struck me as disrespectful.

I completely understand and agree with you. My point is that this notion changes depending on the local culture. My city has a cemetery that doesn't accept new bodies, and everyone buried there has been dead for at least two centuries, so it has become a place for tourist visit, photos, editorials and so on. Sometimes they have fairs over there to raise money to maintain the cemetery and that's mainly what keeps it in its full glory.

So, although I do agree that it may be disrespectful, I also understand that, in some places, the understanding of the cemetery's social function is a bit different from the what we are used to see.

Hoop skirts might be better, but they can still cause issues in the waist area. Still, if they experience issues they could always just wear old school or casual with ruffly bloomers or even sack dresses to alleviate some pressure on the waist. It's not always necessary depending on the dress you are wearing, and for people who wear lolita everyday, it's really hard to move around in a petticoat.
