I'm curious /cgl, what does your overall wardrobe look like? I'm just getting started with lolita and only have 3 brand pieces, but I've been doing LARPs for a while and have several handmade kirtles and related garments. I also have a couple of genuine vintage dresses, one from the 70's and another the 60's. If you have cosplays, that could be another category.

As for what counts, I don't have a specific metric, just kind of guesstimated/personally categorized what I own. I would say for sure shirts, dresses, skirts, undergarments.

I'd separate my wardrobe into 4 quarters:
>trendy-ish normie (FashionNova sets, Forever21 dresses)
>full-on normie (graphic tees)
>casual jfashion (liz lisa, axes femme)
>non-pastel sweet lolita (mostly BtSSB)

I wear lolita to occasions with my bffs like dinner out or going to the nail salon together. I wear casual jfashion or trendy stuff otherwise, to the grocery store or to meet my friends' friends. And when I'm feeling bleh I dress in loose tshirts and sweatpants and go full nerdmode.

P.S. I forgot about business clothes because I've been working from home the whole pandemic. I hope I never have to go back. I used to mix & match trousers and blazers or cardigans in various dark colors and my black loafers. (You won't catch me wearing heels to work, no ma'am, I don't want that kind of damage.) But I got a more casual job during the pandemic, so if they make me come in, I'll do jeans & blazer or trousers & polo. I could not give less of a fuck about how I dress at work as long as it looks professional enough. I turn a switch in my brain between work and "real life".

>> No.10608400

>>10608380
Yeah that's totally fair, and I think even more professional settings have become slightly lax because we've all been in this terrible cooped up mood since March 2020. I think the generally accepted work outfit should fit "I am here to work" and not hint at partying, have too much skin showing etc. The switch between real life and fantasy garb is real real, and I live for those times when I don't have to be casual and can experiment with looks.

But I wear otome/other jfashion 80% of the time. My go-to for work is a MILK dress with a cardigan or jacket, plain tights or ankle socks (no lace), and low heels or flat shoes. I wear a lot of fruit prints. The dress code is business casual. I want to get a Vivienne Westwood suit, but formal situations are very rare at my workplace. Usually it is just people saying that I look interesting and that they wish they could dress however they wanted. Sometimes I get weird comments about popular media, asking if I am cosplaying or going to a party dressed as -insert popular character here- (the weirdest one was some lady asking me if I was cosplaying Elsa, to which the man she was with laughed and said "She is clearly a valkyrie!").

People tend to just mention that my apron dress/wool dress is pretty, or comment on my jewelry, or ask where I got/how I made part of my reenactment clothing though.

I mostly just smile and go about my day. I'd take weird comments if it meant I could be this comfortable forever. Nothing is more comfortable to me, clothing-wise.
