I think the indentation on your legs just happens. Moving around and stuff does make even normal peoples legs swell just a bit, which might leave marks in your body. Also, bras and things do similar to people, fat and skinny. it just happens.

PSA for everyone else, NO do not hang your petticoats that are made of a soft material. i've seen it recommended more than once and it's outright wrong. store them in a drawer, or in a bag, or something to that effect. they will floof right back up after you take them out of the compressed space.

Generally no. Even though most Ali and taobao stuff looks good in the photos, irl there will be obvious quality differences. For example, I bought a big batch of taobao ankle socks and they were all crap. Cheap/no elastic so they constantly fall down, weird sizing, crap materials that snag constantly, lace and decorations attached with hot glue, etc. And these were mid-range taobao-lita brands, not cheap Aliexpress crap.

I'm not sure if all AP tights are the same, but I had trouble pulling them up past my upper thigh. I really had to tug to get them flat against my crotch and over my butt (they were really tight around that area). I'm honestly surprised they didn't rip.

I have been out of the Lolita scene for like 4 years but I randomly remembered there was a Japanese artist whose designs used to get posted on this board a lot, people really seemed to love her work but I can't remember her name or really describe what it was that well.

I remember people used to take pleasure in recreating her drawn designs in real life though. Because they were very complex and detailed.

I ordered a pair from Antaina and the bows on the front of the shoe came as clips, which sucks because the model I ordered clearly shows them sewn to the shoe in the picture.

I think the three taobao stores that get mentioned a lot for being plus size friendly are Yidhra, Red Maria, and Ruby Rabbit. Easy, I don't go out of my way to stew in my emotions about not liking someone. I used to, but then I realized it wasn't affecting anybody but myself. So I decided to stop, and over time I was able to break the habit. I have the same hair, seconding this anon's advice. Definitely avoid heat on your curls. I highly recommend washing your hair infrequently, like 1-2 times a week, with a sulfate free shampoo. Follow it up with a hydrating conditioner and detangle (I use Eva NYC's Mane Magic Conditioner) then scrunch in a good gel for lasting definition (I use Ouidad's strong hold anti-humidity gel). There's plenty of resources for caring for curly hair and you should definitely consider embracing it.

Some people have little capsule wardrobes, or limit themselves to wearing the same color scheme every day. Some people have huge walk-in closets and wear a different outfit every day of the year. Some people do laundry every week, some wash things by hand once a month, some people take everything they own to a dry cleaner. You have to look at your own clothing habits and figure out what works for YOU.

Personally, I have about 20 main pieces in my wardrobe (half JSKs half skirts). However, where I live the climate remains similar year-round so I don't need stuff like winter dresses. I also don't wear holiday-themed stuff, nor do I attend OTT tea parties, so that cuts down the # I need as well. In addition to that, I have about 20 different shirts (a mix of blouses and cutsews). 8 pairs of shoes. About a dozen blousons, cardis, jackets, etc. to layer with. 9 purses. 2 pettis and 4 underskirts. 6 pairs of bloomers and a few pairs of shorts. Lots of socks. Maybe a dozen different KCs and hair clip sets. A couple hats. A variety of jewelry, wristcuffs, and other accessories.

Over all, I have enough stuff that I wear most items at least once a month, but I don't have to repeat coords too often. I also have enough variety that I can easily adapt coords to suit my activities or the weather.

I think it's all about execution and creativity. AvantGeek has made a calendar full of dresses that she's made out of dollar store decorations. I've seen cosplayers use perler beads to make armor, use cardboard and paint to create 2D cut outs of characters, and paper or yarn to make wigs. I think if you work neatly and not slop shit together with glue and string, then you're fine. In general, it begs the question: are you cosplaying for yourself or others? So long as you're happy with what you made, do the opinions of others really matter?

That being said, don't think you should be entering any competitions in your casual clothes cosplay. There's a difference between a costume for funsies and your own personal happiness and craftsmanship. Crafters who have put their heart, soul, and skill into a costume deserve respect, but that doesn't mean anyone who can't/doesn't achieve that level of work deserves malice either. I'd also replace the buttons with something cuter and pin a bow at the neck because right now it's lacking the cuteness factor. Most lolita blouses have lace and puff sleeves, and this one doesn't, so I'd consider it on the casual side for coordinating purposes.

It's a petticoat, but a bit of a lighter one. Most petticoats have a slip to protect your legs from the scratchy petticoat or from sticking to it.

In lolita, petticoats are usually used for volume and underskirts are used for volume and/or extending underneath a skirt for added details and/or length. See picture for example.

Below-the-knee is fine in all substyles. Lolita skirt lengths go from mid-thigh to mid-shin (depending on the substyle and cut). Anything longer (or shorter) than that is not lolita. Floor length skirts aren't lolita, and mini skirts aren't lolita.

If you want to focus on longer skirts your best bet is classic brands like Innocent World and Victorian Maiden, or gothic brands like Sheglit.

EGA uses pants and longer (usually ankle-length) skirts, and most gothic brands release both EGL and EGA stuff. There's also brands like Pink House, which many lolitas also wear. But EGA and Pink House aren't lolita.

I placed a large order with Axes Femme Global nearly 2 weeks ago and my payment has been pending waiting their approval the entire time. Is this normal? Does anyone have experience ordering from their global store?

Today I sent a mail order on Baby's japanese online site for a sold out dress but then I saw the dress on Xianyu so I want to cancel the mail order. No one from Baby has confirmed with me yet whether the dress is even available but if it is, will Baby cut my head off if I tell them I want to cancel the mail order request?
