well, which method did you select at checkout? ems? it has been reopened recently, so you'll probably get that and the delays that come with it. when i want yamato, i type it in my order notes. but you could email support about it just like with any store. worst case scenario is they already shipped it by whatever method you selected.

They said shipping would be a separate order. Then sent this giant message that described Yamato shipping and informing me to send a message if I wanted to go that route. I guess I just want to know what the default shipping is because I'm not sure - I don't mind delays. Also, curious about how long it might take to go from Japan to the US...1 month? 2?

Any possible way to repair threaded out, busted up lace like this? The kind used for corset lacing. Trying to repair my old Mode Girl jsk as much as possible. Posting here because I'm assuming the answer is "no" but maybe there's something I'm not aware of that can tighten it up.

Okay... this is probably a stupid question. Do you think it's "okay" or "ethical" to continuously refer to Japanese brands as being sized specifically for Asians?

I was 'called out' for continuously referring to sizing as "Asian" or this clothing as meant for/being designed with Asian girls and therefore bodies primarily in mind.

Is it taboo to consider a Japanese fashion as sized primarily for Japanese women?

Or must I now refer to the sizing as "smaller in general" without mentioning the Asian part? Is it racist to say the sizing is "Asian", if I'm a white woman?

I'm not meaning to sound ironic or butthurt with this- I honestly wonder now, and I honestly want honest opinions, but I honestly don't know where else to ask something so specific

anyway, sewing might be more difficult since there is a lot of thick/sturdy material to pierce with a needle, but it would be far more sturdy and permanent than glue, which would probably be even less permanent than clips, seeing as how gluing onto vinyl and fake leather is not very practical for long term.

Easy, I don't go out of my way to stew in my emotions about not liking someone. I used to, but then I realized it wasn't affecting anybody but myself. So I decided to stop, and over time I was able to break the habit. Now I just go "meh that person sucks" and either do something about it or just chalk it up to the fact that sometimes people suck and move on. That strategy doesn't allow hate to fester.

I also try to remember Hanlon's Razor: never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. I'd go one step farther and say, never attribute to stupidity that which can be adequately explained by the everyday brain farts and emotional baggage we all have. Everybody kinda sucks sometimes, and you can use that as a reason to hate people, or you can chalk it up to the human condition and save your energy for other things.

I feel like either you are not asking this in good faith, or you could benefit from learning some emotional management.

How many pieces do you need to become a daily lolita? From main pieces to blouses, cardigans, shoes, etc.

>> No.10634055

>>10634025
Probably 10-14 main pieces at least, other than any special occasion OTT tea party crap. You just need enough blouses and cardigans to go with all the main pieces, some you will be able to wear with multiple main pieces. Also helps to frame a couple of cutsews for hotter days or comfy cords. So maybe 3-6 blouses (at least one white or ivory and black, long sleeve and short sleeve) and at least 2 cardigans (one light and one dark) leg wear you will want plenty to change up looks and to have them clean fire laundry day. Accessories can be endless depending on your style, but at least enough wrist cuffs, bracelets, and headwear to match your main colors. I mean, of course it depends entirely on your laundry schedule but this is likely the bare minimum.

What sorts of dress cuts should you try to avoid as a tall lolita?

>> No.10634073

It's more about setting yourself up in a way that minimizes living expenses as much as possible so you can have a bigger lolita budget.

>obtain roommates or move in with SO if you have one
>don't eat out
>avoid needing a car and if that's not possible then get the most cost efficient one you can (one that's cheap, but in decent enough condition not to need major repairs any time soon and has good gas mileage)

Also, go to college for a career that actually pays well in the mean time, but do your first 2 years in community college then transfer to a decent state school.

>> No.10634156

>>10634025
It depends on the person, just like any normie wardrobe.

Some people have little capsule wardrobes, or limit themselves to wearing the same color scheme every day. Some people have huge walk-in closets and wear a different outfit every day of the year. Some people do laundry every week, some wash things by hand once a month, some people take everything they own to a dry cleaner. You have to look at your own clothing habits and figure out what works for YOU.

Personally, I have about 20 main pieces in my wardrobe (half JSKs half skirts). However, where I live the climate remains similar year-round so I don't need stuff like winter dresses. I also don't wear holiday-themed stuff, nor do I attend OTT tea parties, so that cuts down the # I need as well. In addition to that, I have about 20 different shirts (a mix of blouses and cutsews). 8 pairs of shoes. About a dozen blousons, cardis, jackets, etc. to layer with. 9 purses. 2 pettis and 4 underskirts. 6 pairs of bloomers and a few pairs of shorts. Lots of socks. Maybe a dozen different KCs and hair clip sets. A couple hats. A variety of jewelry, wristcuffs, and other accessories.

Over all, I have enough stuff that I wear most items at least once a month, but I don't have to repeat coords too often. I also have enough variety that I can easily adapt coords to suit my activities or the weather.

I don't know how to put this exactly, but how do you feel about cosplays using unconventional materials? Like when you see cosplayers using paper, cardboard, casual clothes, etc in their cosplay? Not only do I not have a whole lot of money to make cosplays, but this one character I want to cosplay has a very specific 2D mask and no other defining traits, and I have no idea how I'd go about making the mask. Would it be considered lazy or trashy if I were to get a piece of cardboard and paint it to look like the mask?

>> No.10634241

>>10634197
I think it's all about execution and creativity. AvantGeek has made a calendar full of dresses that she's made out of dollar store decorations. I've seen cosplayers use perler beads to make armor, use cardboard and paint to create 2D cut outs of characters, and paper or yarn to make wigs. I think if you work neatly and not slop shit together with glue and string, then you're fine. In general, it begs the question: are you cosplaying for yourself or others? So long as you're happy with what you made, do the opinions of others really matter?

That being said, don't think you should be entering any competitions in your casual clothes cosplay. There's a difference between a costume for funsies and your own personal happiness and craftsmanship. Crafters who have put their heart, soul, and skill into a costume deserve respect, but that doesn't mean anyone who can't/doesn't achieve that level of work deserves malice either. No one is going to like point and laugh at you for using cardboard. We all start somewhere.

(btw, craftfoam, modpodge, and acrylic paint are pretty cheap nowadays! I know cardboard can be free, but you can easily elevate your mask with a couple more dollars if you so choose).

It needs to be more fitted at the waist, so take it to a tailor or to grandma for an alteration.

I'd also replace the buttons with something cuter and pin a bow at the neck because right now it's lacking the cuteness factor. Most lolita blouses have lace and puff sleeves, and this one doesn't, so I'd consider it on the casual side for coordinating purposes.

It's a petticoat, but a bit of a lighter one. Most petticoats have a slip to protect your legs from the scratchy petticoat or from sticking to it.

Below-the-knee is fine in all substyles. Lolita skirt lengths go from mid-thigh to mid-shin (depending on the substyle and cut). Anything longer (or shorter) than that is not lolita. Floor length skirts aren't lolita, and mini skirts aren't lolita.

If you want to focus on longer skirts your best bet is classic brands like Innocent World and Victorian Maiden, or gothic brands like Sheglit.

EGA uses pants and longer (usually ankle-length) skirts, and most gothic brands release both EGL and EGA stuff. There's also brands like Pink House, which many lolitas also wear. But EGA and Pink House aren't lolita.
