Ah.. my ex bf had a straggler from a lolita meet, that was completely an external person. I thought he was ok at first and then we were more friends after my ex and I split but it really ended up seeming like he latched on to my ex just to get to me and that dude sucked. He tried to cause drama because I basically would never date him. It's beyond me why any guy thinks they can befriend a guy and then date their ex. I don't swing that way, morally.

Needless to say, he ended up latching onto another friend group of mine. Ruined my friendship with some people by latching onto my ex's sister, who was a stripper, married, but also was fooling around with this guy long distance.

Needless to say, guy really really sucked. Never again.

So this one time I had worn sweet lolita to go shopping in town, between my (then) home is a very long road I have to walk, on my way back a car honks at me, and I go over to see what all the kerfuffle is... it's a man in the car and we start talking, he tells me I look "sexy" and that he likes my dress... then ask if I like his... I look at him properly and he's wearing a maid costume...I get a sinking feeling in my stomach... he then asks if I want to stay and do his makeup and my eyes widen... I shake my head and excuse myself and run as quick as I can... made me nervous to wear sweet for a while and I've not quite gotten over the trauma...

Might out myself but this was years ago and the other person involved isn't active anymore. To this day no one knows why I don't like this person. I don't even think she remembers it.

I was chosen to be in a Lolita show at a con. This was my first event and had this happened now I would have called it out. But I was young and still new to the community.

I go in to have my makeup done and it's a notable person in the community. I was so excited! I had brought supplies and before she even started I warned her that my eyelids were creased differently. Basically one eye creases up and the other creases down. I know it's a bitch to put eyeliner on me and I gave her tips on how to get around it. She seemed to understand and we chatted a little while she got her supplies. When she started on my foundation she started sighing and making disgruntled noises. I asked what was wrong and after a few minutes she started talking about my flaws. It started out small but by the end of it she's spewing a constant stream about my uneven features, bad skin ECT. I was mortified and was kinda frozen as she begins using makeup wipes and starts redoing areas. By the end of it my skin is raw and I'm about to cry. As I'm looking in the mirror she starts giving excuses about how it doesn't look that bad and it would look better if my skin wasn't so bad. I spend the rest of the time before the show trying not to cry as I redo my makeup in the bathroom. Honestly one of the worst events I've done and Ive never let anyone do my makeup again.

Not sure if this fits in, but my friend and I were in lolita at the time and I'm still scarred to this day.

This was early this year and lockdown was coming to an end in my country. Certain shops were open so my friend and I met in lolita since I hadnt seen her in a long time. The easing of lockdown was aligned with the weather getting warm enough to comfortably wear lolita.

Not much is open in the town centre so we decide to go and grab some food from a small supermarket and eat in a local park.

We're in the shop and I smell this smell. Assume my friend farted and kind of give her a side eye. I then notice she's looking at me in the same way, probably assuming it was me. Our eyes lock as we look in front of us.

There is a man in the shop covered in shit. All the back of his trousers is poo.

We have to queue behind poo man. Everyone in the shop is traumatised and is pretending nothing is happening but the whole shop is silent. He turns to us and loudly asks why we are dressed the way we are but we just stay silent. It's taking all my ability to not throw up and I'm trying to resist gagging.

By the time we got served and got out we knew we couldn't eat the food. We just sit on the park bench and then leave.

To this day I haven't worn that JSK. I don't think I can not associate it with the poo man. I might sell it on LM.

Been a long time since I shared this story and only 1 person other than myself is still in the comm from back then, we’ll call her Connie. So here it goes:

New super excited Lolita at heart, we’ll call her Sakura, joins the comm after a local Kawaii shop hosted a in-store party. I had met her at the event and she seemed nice enough. Super excited about buying her first “Lolita” that was some shoddily made flower crown that she wore with her ratty wig- no judgement, we all started somewhere. She was nice and seamed eager to learn.

Anyways she plans a meetup, asked comm friend Connie to let her borrow a coord to the meetup she planned. Connie dressed her up really nice from the neck down, but she still her her one same wig and that flower crown she was so proud of buying. A bunch of people showed up and we enjoyed our day, chatting, taking photos, shopping, and then all of a sudden Sakura disappeared.

We were all getting worried because this minor, we assumed about 16 or so, who we were chillin with, all of a sudden disappeared. No one could find her. People’s rides are showing up and leaving. I didn’t want to leave (in my own car) without finding her and saying goodbye. Finally, I ask Connie if she had seen her, and she says Sakura had been holed up in the bathroom bawling her eyes out for the last hour. The few of us that were left were so confused and had no idea what had happened. Connie disappeared into the bathroom to see if she could get her to come out and see what was wrong.

Turns out she heard me mention my boyfriend and had a meltdown. Apparently she had a crush on me and planned the whole meet to get closer to me and was devastated I wasn’t into girls. I was so embarrassed and I felt so awkward. Later I found out she wasn’t even 16, she was 11, kept telling me how she was actually Japanese and her dad was a rock star or something and her “parents” here were only adoptive. I think she was just trying to seem cool.

Recent horror story: I bought a dress second hand, the seller specified that it needs a wash and I was like sure whatever, I was going to wash it anyway. It arrives and it STINKS, and the lace is yellowed in a few spots. Okay the seller wasn't kidding about the washing. So I gave the dress a vinegar bath which luckily lifted all the yellowing but when I poured the dirty water down the drain it was this disgusting light brown color. And the smell persisted. So I washed the dress in the washing machine. Still smelled! So I aired it out in the balcony overnight, already thinking of more ways to get rid of strong smells but finally the smell was gone. It's a gorgeous dress and sqeaky clean now but I've never received a grimier dress than that one, it took me two full days to get it clean.

I bought a dress when I was new to the fashion, from a pretty well known lolita so I didn't check the listing very thoroughly, figuring everything would be fine. the same beginning lines to every lolita horror story but I digress. the seller was pretty famous in our community and I'd looked up to her for years, and I figured well with such a big following and her incredible style she probably takes good care of her shit, right?

wrong. I was sooo fucking wrong. The dress came with tons of undisclosed makeup stains, absolutely reeked like it had never been washed, was so stained on the inside from sweat the ENTIRE lining was a grayish yellow and it was missing a fucking button on one of the sleeves. The waist bow had black stains all over, the collar was stained with foundation and absolutely caked in dirt. when I washed it, the water turned a dark gray color and it took 10 rinses to get the water to run clear...it was so disgusting and smelled so horrible I don't even have words, but it did eventually come mostly clean after days of washing and stain removal.

but worst of all, after I put in all these hours and days of work to get it to some kind of wearable state, I finally tried it on, and it just didn't fit.

I tried many more times over a few months, I lost weight, tried a really tight sports bra, binder, everything, and eventually gave up because apparently it just cannot contain my massive 90 cm bust. despite my sadness at this, and loss of money and time, I've decided I'll keep it. no other lolita should ever have to deal with this disgusting dress, I just cannot justify selling it even with my restoration. I'm gonna try and maybe turn it into a skirt or something when I can stand to look at it again.

so yeah check the listings gulls and don't trust people just because they look good on social media.
