The issue with the judge is that her photos were shooped, and with a lot of visible errors. If the contest is about achieving the look without shoop, it's setting such a poor/embarassing example.

i am kind of laughing at the no shoop rule. like, Venus's photos are 60-80% photoshopped every single time.

I've spoken to Lily and she said she wasn't really clear about the rules and she is going to be making revisions to them. There isn't an exclusive no-shoop rule, the rule is no "excessive" Photoshop. You are allowed to do things like remove blemishes or fix the lighting, just don't go overboard and paint over your nose and shit.

Flan, your look is cute but next time maybe try going outside and taking pictures in natural light? Something other than that grey corridor behind you in these. I also think that you should try some more expressive poses, like maybe a picture in yourself in a cute chair or something. There's just not enough personality showing to make you stand out.

it might also just be the photo, because it's not a head-on angle the gap between your waterline and eyeliner on the left eye looks very pronounced, but angles would probably camouflage this if it weren't from a three-quarters view. you definitely have the upper hand in any looks-based competition, which is what I meant with my suggestion earlier. simplicity emphasizes your natural beauty in a way that none of the heavily made up/accessorized kawaii uguu tumblrchans can compete with. also venus is known for having a very sweet/natural doll look; since I'm assuming that she and her moms are the real judges of this contest, I think they'll look for someone who emulates that.

After lurking and glancing at the contestants, I had to shake my head at most of it. The judges are near useless, seeing as nearly 90% of the girls are heavily Photoshopping their pictures or making suspicious FB with possible stolen pictures.

It makes me want to hold my own contest. With prizes people actually want. Though, I've retired from modeling. I have a good deal of connections and could gather decent prizes. Contacts, Hi-end cosmetics and I could get my hands on Korean wigs and cosmetics. It would be judged fairly, people would submit a normal picture time-stamped and then 1-2 pictures done up and make a collage. Nothing overly shopped.

Anyone interested? I could make it worldwide.

Thank you for the reply. I've been wanting to host a decent contest for a while now, it would be done in a month because anything longer would just drag on and people would begin to lose interests. Another thing that annoys me, is the prizes! I honestly have so much beauty products, I had to insure it for 45 grand and that is not even an exaggeration. Every year, I give away makeup on holidays, all brand new and still in packages. I used to get a lot of products as perks when I did model. I sometimes still get things in the mail from people I've befriended in the fashion community.

I have a whole tray of contacts, makeup (Urban Decay, Makeup Forever, Benefit, Stila, Lancome, Tokidoki, Fresh and much more) and I can get my hand on any Asian cosmetics I want. Also Korean wigs (I prefer them over the Japanese brands).

I grew up with a Tiger mom, wanted me to do everything I possibly could. I got scouted as a child and did commercials and catalogs. Later on, runway. I think the best advice I got was to be nice and friendly. Of course. I would be your standard contest I suppose. Beauty mostly and not necessarily a doll contest unless any of you specified otherwise. I would make it run 3-4 weeks max. You would have to submit in collage form, a plain picture with a timestamps to prove this is actually you and then 1, 2 or even three pictures of you done up in one look. The choice of how many pictures you want to submit is up to you, as long as you don't go over 3. No heavy photoshop, but small retouching is allowed. I can pick another anon to help as a secondary judge. The winner would be the results of both judges and also the public to an point. The contest would be world wide of course, so it would be fair to everyone. If everyone was comfortable, make a FB account with a picture of myself, maybe even video so people know I'm a real person myself.

It's just my own personal insecurities. It's not like I completely warped my face, I just removed a small bump and the shoulders I did because I took the image at a wrong angle anyway. I took over 100 pictures but the majority came out blurry and with weird lighting that would change from blue to bright orange. The ones that did come out half decent were all taken at bad angles and that's why I pulled my shoulders down a bit. It's not like I'm lying because it would have looked that way if I'd only taken the shot like an inch higher or something.

Cute, yes. But it's a doll-style contest and all she's wearing is contacts. As a contestant that put a lot of effort in into outfit, hair, makeup, it's a bit insulting. I know religiously she's got it a bit harder, but I've seen people do a lot in religious wear (eg hatsune miku cosplay with headscarf instead of blue hair, or lace headwear).
