Up close, it IS really similar- the sleeve, collar area, skirt style, and wig all really closely resemble dmeg's interpretation. The posing too, but that's more iffy. popping in to say that if this cosplayer did indeed draw inspiration for her cosplay from mine, i really don't mind at all. i think it's flattering, even more so because she looks so great. but really this particular look is a common interpretation of the disciple so it's nbd. if i inspired her to style it like i did mine, cool. if not, who curr because she looks really great.
in this fandom i think it's okay to do some give and take when it comes to cosplay and interpreting designs to the real world.

actually, the "coconut head" symptom that plagues so many roses is because the bangs won't stay in the 'v' shape in the center of the forehead unless sprayed or something similar. Many roses don't style properly, and as the day goes on, their bangs get messed up.

Some fans really like the chubby Fef idea, then there are the fat vriska fans, Tavros is drawn chubby a lot too since he was stuck in the chair.

Instead of asking who to be though, think about which characters you like the most, and who you'd like to spend time dressed like. Pick a character who you can portray, also one that has a flattering outfit for yourself. Like a sprite will make you look larger because of all the white, same goes for the fairy Vriska.

Aradia, Feferi, Meulin, Terezi, and Ms. Paint seem to be fan favorites for bigger cosplayers. Honestly, I'd say to go for any character that doesn't have short hair that frames the face, since that generally looks bad on chubby faces. Also avoid characters with outfits that wouldn't flatter your body type.

i like overweight ms. paints, aradias, terezis, tavros, roses, araneas, and porrims. cosplay anybody though, really! it shouldn't matter. just make sure to tailor the cosplay to look better on your body, wear a shaper, etc.

So I gathered some references for my upcoming trickster!jane cosplay, but the inconsistency in sleeve color is throwing me off. Opinions on if they should match the yellow shirt or the orange stripes?

Actually, this is an interesting discussion. Dave's god tier has been shown to have sleeve inconsistencies as well, from a brighter version that matches the time symbol on his shirt to a darker version that matches the color of his cape. Does /cgl/ have a preference of one over the other?

liquid latex dabbed on with a sponge till you get the texture you want. dry it with a hairdryer, powder and then you can cover in facepaint/foundation/whatever you want. don't use the same sponge twice and don't dab at it for too long or it will start to dry, stick to your sponge and peel off. get a car sponge for like $2 and rip it up instead of spending a lot on cosmetic sponges. u welcome xo

I know for trolls that wigs in pure black are recommended but what about for the kids? I've got a wig I used for Feferi that i want to rewear as Jade, but I don't want it to look unnatural since its so dark.

you could use ben nye wax or flesh effects or something but all of them would be way more expensive and unnecessary for something that simple. do a test on your hand first with the ben nye liquid latex (don't use shit from a craft store) for a few hours and if you don't get a rash or anything after a day or two then go ahead and try a patch on your forehead or something. be careful, if you have a mild allergy it might not show up on your hand but because the tissue in your face is so much finer or whatever you could puff up hahha (i learnt that the hard way). good luck!!!!

While trolls with "natural black" wigs look kind of odd, if you're careful enough you can avoid looking washed out. My advice would be to make sure to darken your brows and to avoid super heavy eyeliner, or just use brown. Maybe use some pink blush so you don't look super pale? Keep it clean and subtle. Hope that helps! Tons of Jades use super black wigs, so I think you'll be fine anyways.

Very dark browns, off-blacks or pure blacks seem to work best for kids. Photograph yourself wearing no makeup or natural makeup while wearing the wig, or have someone take photographs for you. If you look too washed out both in your reflection and in photographs, you may have to go with an off-black instead.
