I think identifying different kinds would help. Here are some of my ideas:

To start off there are three characters to this story. Me, my girlfriend and three convention hotel roommates I'll call Sandy, Emma and Lucy.

My girlfriend and were both crossplayers who met each other through crossplay. I was 16 and she was 19. We knew Sandy, Emma and Lucy through online anime forums where we talked about shows that my girlfriend and I crossplayed from.

Both of us are fairly attractive, average-sized girls (though she was a foot taller than me). Out of costume we resemble Chie and Yukiko a fair amount. Neither of us are particularly butch looking, and despite the fact we enjoy yaoi and crossplay we are both very much into other girls and don't pretend to be boys.

After a long week of busting our asses on our costumes (Kenshin and Sanosuke) we arrive at the convention with everything done, looking to meet our buddies for the first time. We go into the lobby to look for the other girls where they said they would be, and can't find them. The only people sitting there are a table of very, very large women who appear to be in their mid-thirties.

My girlfriend and I had seen photos of the girls online before, and they did not look like this. These women were much older, much fatter and I'm pretty sure Lucy told us she was asian. The closest to asian among them looked to be hispanic. After ten minutes of waiting I finally go up to the women and... yes they are Sandy, Emma and Lucy. We're both a little in shock because from their typing and the fact they are on a very young forum... we assumed they would be in early college or high-school.

I should have ran when the first thing they did was glomp me and my girlfriend hard, and go on and on about how small and delicious and kawaii I was. Sandy in particular reeked of the powder base you get in ramen packages.

When a Kaoru came up to us for photos, Lucy literally BODYCHECKED her onto the ground and started screeching about her ruining our pairing and the series. Before we could say anything the girl got up and pretty much ran away.

But the crowning incident that really broke the camel's back was Saturday night. I'm a little drunk and it feels good to close my eyes. I must have dozed off for a second, but I woke up when I felt something snap around my throat. I didn't realize at the time, but it was a chunk leather collar one of the fangirls bought in the dealers room. The next thing I know I'm being dragged off the bed by a chain and onto the floor, and called a 'bad Kenshin'. Just as I try to stand up I feel an immense weight crushing down on me. Lucy in all of her 300lb glory was straddling my ass, and as soon as I started thrashing around beneath her began to yank on the chain on my throat.

I can't breathe, I'm disoriented and I'm still bound. My ribs feel like they're about to bust and my hips are not meant to bear this kind of weight. The first thing I did was pack up our shit, and get the hell out of there to where my girlfriend was holding our panel. I found out later that week one of my ribs was sprained, and I was covered in bruises. Our friends ended up taking us in that night.

The next day we saw the fangirls and they ran and hid even when I tried to give them our hotel money. I'm not sure if it was because they were scared of me or afraid of getting in trouble. Either way, on the forum after this whole mess they wrote a huge sob-story about how mean we were and how we didn't pay for the hotel and how I had flirted with Lucy and led her on.

I paypal'ed Lucy the money for one night and told my side of the story, and once everyone saw their pictures and realized how fucking old and creepy they were the forum pretty much ostracized them until they left.

To this day almost a decade later my girlfriend and I call fat fangirls 'Lucy's 'Emmas' and 'Sandys'.

i am definitely going to accompany my niece to her first con after reading all this. She is 15, cute kid, and she likes dressing up moe or whatever it is.

In high school, I spent most of my time writing fanfiction from the anime Kuroshitsuji. I know it's sad but I had a lot of spare time and high grades and I couldn't work, so it was the perfect way to waste online. I had so much fun talking ot people on boards and online- I was even a BNF in the fandom. I had so many friends who liked Kuroshitsuji even though I kept my powerlevels hidden at school and I felt unhappy at school because nobody shared my interest in anime... or so I thought!
