Not OP, but I think the girl on the right looks pretty bad. The dress looks to small to begin with, and with the skirt up so high and the ankle socks...it just looks tacky. On a smaller girl with the skirt hanging lower, and the dress actually fitting her frame, it probably wouldn't look that bad. Plain coord, but it would be passable imo.

I think I've worked out what the main problem with Bodyline is. Their clothes have a reputation for being both cheap, and forgiving measurements-wise. This creates a disproportionate number of itas wearing bodyline because the clothes are too big for the skinny girls, and they're too small for the fatties, who don't realise that even though Bodyline is bigger than brand, it's still not one-size-fits-fat. There are very few girls wearing Bodyline who actually fit it well.

The pieces will have measurements. They can vary, so just because you fit an M for one item, doesn't mean you'll be a universal M for Bodyline. The measurements will have a range, say 72-82 cm, I say make sure you fit somewhere in the middle of those. If you're too close to the low end, you risk it being too baggy; and if you're too close to the high end, you risk it being too tight. The only real exception are pieces where there is some sort of lacing, but only if the lacing is around the waist. But first and foremost, make sure you're taking your measurements properly.
I think the waist seems to be the biggest problem area for most girls, if it's too loose or too tight a co-ord will look awful.

It depends on your height and weight distribution, muscle mass, bone structure and a variety of other factors. Weight really means very little.

I know a girl who weighs 180lbs, is taller than me by 5" has smaller measurements, and just had a kid so has a lot of body fat on her. Whereas I'm 150lbs and roughly 3" bigger in measurements, shorter, but less body fat on me (about 5lbs overweight and about 20 from my goal weight). So weight really has no standing.

I think lolita tips can only go so far as the basics though. People come into lolita every day and the ones who want to try have tons of questions for things we consider basic, so it makes sense to have a bit of a guide for that. I don't think you need to be a terribly great expert at all things that are lolita and recognise prints by a 5x5cm sample fabric to run it, but someone like her seems suitable, especially with the basicness of questions she usually gets.

Like have you ever looked thru timeline photos of your comm in the Facebook groups? I was surprised by how much everyone improved.
