So, essentially I noticed a friend request from someone who I'll call "Roy" for the sake of the story. I had never talked to him or heard of him, but we had 3 mutual friends (all con/cosplay people). So I sent him a message asking if I knew him, thinking maybe I'd briefly met him but forgot.

Turns out he was adding me because.... He didn't have enough time at the last convention he went to meet people, or something and was randomly adding cosplayers. His explanation didn't really make sense and he kept saying sorry. I also noticed right off the bat that although he's 10 years older than me, he types like a dyslexic 12 year old.

Not only are his grammar, spelling and context dismal but he's also just generally awkward and weebish. He lists to me all of his cosplays and says he's been cosplaying for 5 years. I tell him I've only been cosplaying for a year and he starts talking to me like I've just done my first cosplay I made a week ago, so I'm sort of annoyed. After this, he starts talking to me everyday.

He also buys his cosplays instead of making that (nothing wrong with that though) and only has 3 wigs, even though he mentioned doing maybe 10 cosplays. He mentions that he's been "gluing" his cosplay all day at one point. He doesn't know how to sew. He complains to me about not wanting to sew a hem but then refuses to use hem tape. On one of my pictures he commented with an image of an anime character getting a nosebleed.....you get the idea.

He also encouraged me to a closet cosplay, which I said no to and he said it's "thinking outside the box" and he's going to buy a cosplay for $140 even after I said it would be cheaper to make it. I said if he doesn't try to sew he won't improve but he just brushed me off because "it's not what he does". He also gives me bad suggestions on what wigs I should use for characters when I haven't asked for them.

This isn't necessarily a horror/weeb story per say, but it's something pretty unsettling that happened to me at Katsucon 2012.
It was Sunday, and me and all of my friends were cosplaying Kuroshitsuji. I was Sebastian uvu. We got a lot of attention, and it was really fun!! We decided to take a break and were chilling and talking to some other kuro cosplayers when a man (i cant remember if he was cosplaying ;; ) came up and asked if he could take a picture of me.
I was eyeing him a bit because he was apparently going to take the picture with his dsi, but whatever.
I stepped away from the rest of the group and posed, and suddenly i feel someone wrap their arm around me in a headlock and point a gun to my head. I was terrified ahhh :U
I turn around, confused as hell, and by that time the dude was laughing and his friend was telling him that he still needed to take the picture.
I held the uncomfortable pose for a minute or so, then they simply said thanks and left. I went back over to my friends and told them, and they were like woah what the hell.
Looking back at it, i should of probably said something along the lines of it being inappropriate.
So cosplayers, I recommend that you check with your photographer if possible. You never know what surprises may be waiting.

Uh, I kind of have a story, not really 'horror' but it made a lot of the people involved really awkward and a little upset.

At the last con I went to, Kate ran up to me and started viciously scratching at my eyes, blaming me for the loss of her former friends, and everything the "fat bitches" said to her on /cgl/ when she started a thread here insisting I was a bitch. I have photos of the wounds, but again, lelsoedgyfaggots have made me not want to go into further detsail with the story.

Worst convention/anime related thing that's happened to me was getting glomped/tackled by a fat girl.

It's half my fault, since I was wearing a shirt that said "GLOMP ME", which I got as a sort of in-joke for my group of friends. I was curious to see if anyone would actually do it, so I wore it around the convention floor.

I was a petite 13 year old. Common sense dictates that you try not to crush people smaller than you. Almost every person asked permission and did a running hug where they would gently hug and lean a bit, or they would just opt for a normal hug instead.

Nope, not her. Nearly knocked me over, though she did knock the wind out of me and hug waaaayy too tight.
She also leaned on to me. Kind of like a horse leans back on you when you lean on them.
Plus she smelled like cat pee. That was unpleasant.

I stopped wearing the shirt around conventions after that.

Well, I went to a convention with my boyfriend. I dragged him along because I didn't want to be there alone, which he didn't mind going with me. We're both taiwanese, but he looks like one of those korean male idols because of how he dressed and how he had his hair. He's also about 6 ft tall. A lot of girls there wanted a picture of him even though he wasn't cosplaying and he had 6 marriage proposals from random girls that day.
The icing on the cake was this girl who I will call Sue. I was in the restroom washing my hands and she came in and stared at me for what seemed like 5 minutes. Then she blurts out, "Omg, you're asian! Let's be friends!" I was weird-out because I don't know this girl. She kept trying to talk to me about how she loved asian people and the japanese and korean culture.
I tried to make an excuse to leave because her obsession was rather uncomfortable, so I told her that my boyfriend was waiting on me. And she literally said, "There's another one!?!"

The police/security part with the weaboo being at fault 100% of the time is something that I do take some issue with when it is in almost every single story posted.
But then again, it's going to be something a lot of people do, calling the cops because of a crazy person. Once again, you're ignoring the second part; "Nothing in this situation could've possibly went better if they were calmer or nicer." Everything that was a mistake by them was because they were being too nice and didn't tell the person off when any rational person would've broken all contact permanently halfway through the story. Every time the weeaboo went off or did something weird, no one did anything that could reasonably provoke said action. They always hold their tongues despite the negative consequences for everyone for doing so, they only strike when the weeaboo takes the first swing, and the only time they ever lose their temper is when they're pushed miles past the reasonable limit and absolutely never has yelling at the weeaboo made things worse.

Honestly it's really specific to the formula. For the hero's journey, you need to score 1005 or it doesn't fit. With yours, half is okay. With brownies, you need all the basic ingredients. With mine, you need almost all of it and they have to fit really well (ex. just being fat doesn't qualify as being fat, bad hygiene, and being a third wheel no one likes).

Actually, that's probably where you got mixed up; you counted yourself for quite a few that barely fit. The being fat one doesn't count because you're not inviting her and she doesn't have bad hygiene. The putting up with them doesn't count because you're not trying to be nice, just not get killed. Technically you didn't have a climax, and technically none of this counts because there isn't a weeaboo.

No personal horror stories fortunately. I was planning on going to a con but I found out what the local community was like. Noped right out of there. Avoided lots of horrible green text stories from the looks of it.

I'll just explain it to you; the formula is to point out a trend that started in 2011 where people made up completely ridiculous stories based off of the one OP posted to get attention. This is not the end-all be-all for catching fake stories, just for identifying the carbon copies unintentionally perpetrated by Ursula, which are pretty much always fake and always pop up in these threads. You want to make your own formula trying to encompass every fake story ever? Good luck not being too broad, but go ahead. Just don't twist mine out of ignorance.

All of my friends have begged me to refuse to let her stay with us anymore, which I am more than willing to agree to. As leader of the cosplay group as well (who thought it was a good idea to put someone with no leadership qualities in this position is unknown to me) I've been balancing thoughts of banning her completely from the group due to getting several complaints about her behavior. Sorry Earthbound, but your obsession with furries and speaking very openly to people you do not know about porn will not be missed.

Alright here it goes,
The beginning is a little confusing, I’m sorry. If anyone is confused just ask and I could green-text for an easier explanation.
The convention I'm going to is in less than a month. Most of the group I'm going with is friends with my sister, so I don't know them too well personally. I was recently talking with one of my friends that's in my group (I'll call him Jack) a couple nights ago on skype, but it turns out I was talking to another guy in my group (I'll call him Samuel). Me and Samuel hit it off pretty fast in the conversation even though I didn't know I was talking to Samuel, I thought I was still talking to Jack. Near the end of the conversation Jack said I was talking to Samuel the whole time. That was alright with me because I wanted to become friends with everyone before the convention. Since my birthday was coming up, I told Jack before he logged of skype that we should have a little get-together at my house then. Samuel then decided to invite himself to my “party” even though I said nothing about him going. But again, I was ok with it because I needed to be friends with everyone before the convention.
Since all con horror stories describe the person I’ll guess I’ll explain what Samuel is like. His hair is like that new hipster style that’s becoming popular, with the shaved sides with the little poof of hair on top. I hate it. His nose and lip combination remind me of a bird beak. He’s got a pudgy body as well, and to go with his body, a VERY shitty video game tattoo on him. He’s stupid as well, he took a lot of classes that were for the stupid people in high school, also he was stupid enough he had to drop out of orchestra. Not really sure about his hygiene though, haha. I haven’t talked to him much irl.

Well later, Samuel sent me a friend request on facebook, and I wanted to not stir up any drama in the group so I accepted.

He commented on my wall with some le memez and that’s when I realized that this guy was really, really stupid. I commented back to his post trying to be polite, and seeming a little cool, since I’m the underdog of the group and I didn’t want to seem like a loser to everyone.

An hour later after that, Samuel posted a status on facebook that he was tired of being single, and tired of hearing people complain that relationships are “hard” because, “its not just two people, not 4” (what?) That sent off the red flags for me, I didn’t want to date him, and he seemed like he was looking for a girlfriend at a time, so I stopped talking to him for a while and started working on other things.

A couple days later I got a message from Samuel on facebook. Once again, I didn’t want to seem uncool or stir up drama, so I messaged back. We talked for a while, with him flirting a lot, and me making it obvious I wasn’t interested. In one point of the conversation he was talking about ecchi and hentai, how pretty I am, and how sweet I am. I was really uncomfortable with the conversation but I still didn’t want to seem uncool so I acted fine with it.

I probably made a mistake of adding Samuel on skype near the end of the conversation. I think since I did that, he thinks I’m interested as well. During the middle of our skype conversation today he said, “... do you ever feel like your missing something in life? like your happy and such, but you feel like there should be more?” I thought of this to be a way of him saying stuff about relationships and stuff, although I could be wrong. We’ve only had two conversations before this one, and he was already getting too deep like this. I responded with a “it’s the little things that count”, if anyone was wondering.

Before he left, he asked me a lot about my personal life, which I didn’t say much because I didn’t want him to know a lot about me for him to like me. He always tried to relate things I liked to him, to make me like him more or something.

I’m just avoiding him from now on; I don’t want him to ask me out on dates or ask to be his girlfriend before the con, because when I say no, there’s going to be drama and awkwardness at the con. I’m just hoping when we go to the con, he doesn’t get too touchy or personal with me.

Advice:
If he's in the same hotel room as you, make sure he gets the bed and you get the floor, you can legit ask why he's leaving the bed to move next to you, not the other way around.
Make it plain and clear that his and your sleeping spaces are seperate. Try and put other people between you
If you're in separate rooms, make sure the room party is in his, so you can leave, rather than having to make the effort kicking him out. Lock your door!
Tell him there's a "3 strikes and you're out" inappropriate touching rule. Lie and say it's an official con rule / unspoken anime community rule, if he tries to laugh it off / call you childish.
"out" after the "third strike" means an elbow in the ribs, finger in the eyes, or foot in the balls.
Sit near a potted plant, discreetly pour any drink he buys you into the earth when he's not looking. Don't take your eyes off your own drinks / food.
Revenge ideas, if he really fucks you around:
-Get an old / scrap / broken car key. If he needs to get something from your car (as in the other story above), give him that key and vague directions to car park B. Go to car park A, where you actually parked, and leave.
-ALL THE LAXATIVES.
-Disgustedly reply "you buy that shit?" if he shows you hentai. Threaten to sling it out the window. Follow through if he persists

Okay, so this is guy is stupid and annoying and you don't like him. But, most of the problem is you going along with his flow. When he mentions hentai and ecchi, your response should have been "I don't like it, sorry," instead of pretending you're fine with it. If he continues talking about it, your response should have been to let him talk to himself until he's done/starts asking if you're still there, then reply with "Sorry I was getting a drink/sandwich/mom called/dog howled/full moon/etc" followed by a change of topic. Same with his compliments, if you don't want him to get the wrong idea, give a quick, blase reply ("oh okay", "I see, thanks", "that's nice") and change the topic.

If you're really at a loss how to redirect the topic, excuse yourself from the conversation with "Sorry I need to go do something." It's an online convo after all, you can continue browsing the net with skype turned off.

Like, girl, I understand you want everyone to like you, but sometimes you have to learn to shut them down or yes, the milder cases will want to date you and the worse cases will turn into real horror stories.

All right, I guess I will go ahead and share mine too.

Back at Ohayocon 2012, was hanging out with a friend and just standing around socializing for the most part. I was cosplaying Izaya Orihara in his cd cover art version and a rather young Izaya(she was maybe 14 or 15) came up to us. She seemed okay at first then proceeded to get rather into my personal space, in which my friend and I quickly did our best to ditch her. Well she followed us. Friend and I sat in the food court area and she sat at the table opposite us. Now before I go on I will state that both my friend and I are transguys, neither of us are on hormones or anything yet though. Well the girl was just blabbing random stuff, I wasn't particularly paying attention to her since I was already kinda creeped out. My friend kindly explains to her that he and I are both trans, girl proceeds to yell out rather loudly 'Oh I wish I had a penis!'

After that my friend and I made up an excuse to get the hell away from her pretty much and did our best to avoid her the rest of con.
