Of the most relevant things that happened at the tea party was a particular present given to Misako.

Daniela had little to nothing to do regarding organization. She was the one that made possible the connection between Misako and Animex's organizer, despite that she tried to help whenever help was needed and made changes accordingly to meet Misako's needs.

Unfortunately the whole thing turned out to be worse than I thought. Inner drama within Monterey's cominities was reflected on both the tea party and fashion show.
I wouldn't be surprised if things were different if the organiers had enough common sense to realize 140 people in a tiny room for a tea party WITH NO TEA or having more than 60 people for a fashion show was probably a bad idea.
Not to mention many people in said fashion show looked like complete crap

You're looking at a convention venue rather than an official tea party where a fancy location is chosen. If the tea party was to be held elsewhere, it would be up to the convention to cover the costs of the venue, food, and the like rather than say the Brand itself. Look at american convention tea-parties. They're usually also held in a fairly plain event room. Case in point, Acen's AP tea party.

There was an AP fashion show, and looking at the pictures, it looked really fun. I wasn't into Lolita at the time, but I've worked for conventions for years. But usually, like I said, the convention pays the cost to get the guests out there and then for food/etc. Even for larger conventions, it's hard to fund a fancy location for a few hundred people on top of that.

Most of the large conventions in the US have some brand shops in the dealers room. Though smaller conventions will usually have at least one or two people selling lolita accessories in the artist alley. I get a lot of my jewelry and accessories this way.

Though I admit the crappy looking food looks pretty disappointing. The least they could have done was offer the guest some good food earlier in the day if they could not afford it for the attendees. Typically at american cons, there are handlers that will ensure that the guests are fed and as comfortable as possible during their time at the event.

I do imagine though that Acen's food was decent (someone want to confirm/deny?). I've staffed the convention a few times and the staff suite always had pretty decent food. Wasn't at the Acen AP party last year but the Chantilly/AtP party this year had what I would consider just-adequate food. A ton of strawberry-cream cheese sandwiches for some reason, a couple savory flavors, and some supermarket cookies. They also gave us each a cupcake and had us decorate them for a "contest" with provided icing and sprinkles.
