Sure is. Her wig isn't even that bad, it's just that it contrasts too much with her skin tone (if she wasn't going to tan darker she should've picked a shade lighter; that mahogany color she went with just makes her look very pale) and it makes her head look pinched/tiny in the back.

Honestly, I wouldn't use most other cosplayers as a reference for Sonia, since most of them seem to skip a lot of details. A good 75% of them don't bother with trying to do the stockings properly.

sorry for the shitty webcam selfie lmao! this was a test run from a few months ago but you should get the jist. this is my asahina wig! its a magnum and a curly clip that i straightened and used a loooot of hairspray on! arda ships really fast (though i think theyre delaying shipping for a few days b/c of dragoncon but :o thats over now so??) and i love how my wig stays up with just hairspray and, of course, some bobby pins for extra support!

The perler hair clip for one is terrible and the hoodie they used, pockets and zipper and all, isn't even a good base for Chiaki's sweater to begin with. OK other problems aside I understand not everyone can make Aoi's hoodie, but I am quite sure that you can find something a little more accurate than a varsity jacket? Her sport hoodie and a varsity jacket are very different styles. I don't even think varsity jackets are USED in Japan, they're such a classically 'Murican thing.
I went to Ebay and put in 'red white jacket women', and the 5th somewhat inaccurate result was still better than the varsity jacket shown in that photo. Aoi is already a lazy looking cosplay, there's no need to make it look even lazier

Artbook says it's meant to be a badge, so I'd say go with that if you can make it not stick out too much. Applique and satinstitching would also look nice if you have the tidiness.

Shoe lifts won't get you more than an inch or two of extra height before forcing your foot out of the shoe and looking ridiculous. At your height, it will hardly make a difference. Use wedge loafers (possibly combine them with the lifts if you really want), they are a perfectly fine solution for extra height.

Unless I'm in a crowd because crowd shots can't be mistaken for photoshoot.

If they don't want to wait while I make sure nothing is coming untucked and my wig looks presentable enough then I'll thank them for the compliment, wish them a good con and they can leave without a photo. I also do the same for others if asking for a photo so it's as much a gripe with the photographer for not saying "No offense you have a big snarl in your wig, would you like a moment to fix it before I take this."

And that is my gripe, it takes about a minute at most to smooth out anything like the fuzz by her shoulder, the gaps in her fringe or the snarl by her butt and then I'd have honestly thought she were practically perfect.

Very, very cute cosplayer! I'd say though they definitely make a better Chihiro than Sayaka looks-wise, as they do have a very androgynous look and it doesn't work well for Sayaka who is very feminine. Perhaps some more defined makeup would help? The proportions on Sayaka are a little weird, and the shoes are a nice shape by the wrong color. I like the color of their wig though, dark but still very much blue. Wish they had the appropriate volume on Chihiro's skirt, too.

She's actually really sweet, and was sitting next to me when that all happened (I ran out as soon as I realized what was happening). I think she learned her lesson from that experience, though. I like her Ishimaru uniform, as well as the Roxy dress that she was wearing that day!
