Ugh I don't know if it's because she looks so pleasant and cheerful in this picture, but I want to help her. This outfit would be saveable if:

-She switched out the ribbon for the corset lacing on the bodice for a different color or somehow did away with it entirely.
-Removed the waist bow.
-The bodice seems to fit a little bit awkward. Some shapewear and a different bra might help.
-Got a different blouse entirely. She was right not to want a bunch of fussy details around her neck, but unbuttoned blouses in Lolita is a huge pet peeve of mine and it rarely looks good. Plus this blouse looks like it either wrinkles easily or hasn't been ironed. The puffed sleeves are all wrong for her body-type anyway. She'd be better off with a square-neck blouse with pretty lace detailing. Or a bolero/cardigan if the bodice is giving her trouble still (so long as they aren't frumpy or too tight).
-Some simple, pretty accessories. A choker and perhaps a bracelet. Nothing more.
-Better shoes, definitely. A pair of old-fashioned boots with a delicate heel would be a great choice.
-She should either learn to style her hair or wear a wig. Either way, something that frames her face/jaw and has lots of volume--moreso on the sides than the top, I think--would look much better. Possibly side-swept bangs?
-Doing her makeup a certain way would also help immensely. She should consider trying the following: even out skin with foundation and concealer, shape brows so they're naturally arched, sweep a rosy blush over the cheekbones, and go with a berry-colored lip. Possibly line them, fill them in with liner and then go over it with a tinted balm. That looks best in photos, I've found. I'd have to get a better look at her eyeshape to figure out what's best, but a natural color palette that brightens the eye area would be good. If she's up to it and can wear them comfortably with glasses, a natural pair of falsies also look good for photos.

Optional steps: Switch the bow out for a corsage that matches the flowers on her dress and carry an old-fashioned, ladylike purse that matches her boots. She can also save up for more old-fashioned, loliable glasses further down the line if she wants. I think that would be really cute.

She actually picked colors that were good for her from what I can tell. The length of the dress isn't too bad, either. That and tea-length dresses would probably suit her best if her calves are on the thicker side.

In all honesty, I love it when plus-sized Lolitas wear super elegant, historical coords. I think she would be cute in something like that.

I like the idea a lot, but the beads shouldn't have been so big, which adds to the costumey effect. Chaining them together would have made the look all around more delicate, or she should have chosen smaller beads and accented them with highlights in the form of drops or charms. Tailored, combined with steel-plated underwear.
At the very least she'd need a well-fitting bra and some serious shapewear to smooth out her lumps, or maybe even an actual corset. Not one meant for tightlacing, just something to rearrange her fat tissue into a more streamlined shape.
Her body type wasn't uncommon for fancy historical women in huge elegant gowns, but they all had a small army of ladies to strap them into underthings that made the dresses fit nicely. They would've looked just as bad in such a flimsy, unsupportive bodice.
Of course this can't really be applied to everyday life for most people nowadays, and I wouldn't expect the woman in the picture to wear a corset every day. Still, if she wants to look good in a fancy dress, she'll need something to constrain her rolls.

We couldn't really decide if she should have puppies one day, because for my breed it is better if they have at least one litter once in their life. (We ended up not doing it, because we don't have the room and time to take care of them) Getting her fixed would also make her coat very ugly. Instead of it being soft and shiny it would become dry and strawlike. We saw it happen with dogs of the same breed that belonged to friends. They stopped fixing new pups after that too. An English Springer Spaniel. A breed i've seriously come to love. They are really gentle at home, but when used for hunting they show their true passion for retrieving. She is also a quiet dog. I've only heard her bark maybe three times in my life. And I've only heard her growl once. Which isn't a lot for a 10 year old dog.
