In retrospect I think this is the best thing that has happened to venus. I used to think she was stupid and her mom was crazy and what not. I admit I didn't see all her videos or read her blog. Yes and no. People have known this for a long time and the contests have been avoided by all but the desperate or ignorant. I'm of the opinion that Venus is more a victim of her mother's machinations, since she would willingly send her daughter into the hospitality of a known creeper. I do think it's interesting that they're saying Margaret approached them first. I'm not going to defend Mr. Yan in any way with this commentary, so hear me out.

I have seen the video and came to think many things.

Mr. Yan, like most Japanese, is likely shy and socially awkward. Venus Angelic with her blonde hair (seems to be the rage now) meant a lot to him and he tried to present some possible future for her. Maybe because of how things went (he tried to offer some good experiences at least), it was for the best that Venus felt uncomfortable.

Venus represented the ideal image Mr. Yan wanted for the company and the brand. It's not out of the ordinary for men of vision to hope to marry their muse - Walter Lantz married the woman who would go on to voice Woody Woodpecker in his cartoons, after having lost the previous voice to studio contract.

She got to visit Japan for free, eat for free, and perhaps she would have had a better time had she been paid and the facilities visited were in much better shape. Maybe it's not that rare for some girls in Japan to decide to go on for education, work, or marry and raise a family at a relatively young age. It's so painfully obvious that this page was written by Mad Marge it hurts. That "placing at #71" just proves it. Funny enough, there's zero proof of her placing anywhere yet she kept begging for that £65,000. We ALL know what Venus horrible singing sounds like by now.

For what it's worth, I've seen Venus in person at London Expo, which was only earlier this year and she absolutely did not have 'terrible skin', not even close, she looked very pretty in person and yes, was quite doll-like, which is more or less true to how she is promoted. She could easily be 16, she didn't look particularly older to me. Also bodyline do not photoshop their pictures or use particularly flattering lighting for its models (largely due to the time restraints etc), so you have to be very well put together, with decent skin to come across as looking even half-decent on there. Take Nadia for example, she looks ok on the website, clearly a pretty girl but she looks breathtakingly stunning in person or in most of her other images away from Bodyline. The point is, Venus is doll-like and pretty in person with decent skin, it doesn’t prove or disprove any of the other drama but you guys are really clutching at straws with all the 'she looks so old, looks like crap...has terrible skin in person' type stuff.

One thing I did notice though was that in general at the Expo (or at least when I saw her wandering around), people didn't really recognise her, that or they didn't give her much attention, yet her report of the event seemed to suggest that people were queueing up to meet and take photos with her. Hardly a major criticism really considering this is pretty standard in the industry - to make all occasions seem more eventful/ successful/ interesting than they actually were.
