Also, judging by the chest, that's a guy. It looks like the dress is tight across the chest and he tried to stuff the front, but he didn't do a very good job and got... flat chest loaf?

how i started:
>research the basics of lolita, shape, appropriate wear, etc
>find the style you like most/suits you best
>find shops that will make clothes to your size
>put together co-ord collages and ask for crit before buying
>first thing you should but is a petticoat, shape depends on the style you've chosen
>make up research, find colors that suit you the best/the style you've chosen
>watch tutorials on contouring for males--female might help, but depends how manly your face is
>if you're still unsure, ask for advice on one of the make up threads here

there are more details, but you get the idea?

Yes... in fact all my lolita friends just happen to be male anyway. Otherwise Im my only lolita I can hang out with. One does cute kodona tho, he's no big on dresses but has talked a bit about just dabbling with one dress.

The other...ugh. He's so difficult. Allow for greentext

basically he's a stubborn shit and although hr originally loved lolita for the modesty and cuteness he just cannot into following the rules for it let alone have ANY taste whatsoever despite following the rules of drag and performance perfectly. he just honestly doesn't take lolita seriously at all when its obvious it's as serious???
anyway back to my drama
> Goes blouse less
> no stockings or socks of course, he wears 4-5 pairs of nude pantyhose to cover his hairy legs like the old drag queens trick
> pink flower dress with black platform stripper heels, maroon/red wig, plus lowered CP petticoat combo
> still brags to this day how perfectly cute and lolicon he looked
> did I mention the intense drag queen makeup
Its like to him the only acceptable form of convincing female makeup is bronzed up and coloured drag queen makeup. Instead of looking cuter and younger he ends up looking like an older woman instead. I'm not from a prestigious beauty school, but as soon as I recommend some of my feminizing makeup suggestions (I have a boxy face) he shits on me because his 1 year in drag queening (is about 7 or 8 ocassions?) makes him 10 x better makeup user than I could be in my whole body despite being a woman using it since teens, 7-8 times minimum a FORTNIGHT
> still insists to this day to just thrillingly buy more poofy dresses before I buy him a proper petticoat even for his birthday
> will not talk to me about anything except to go buy more dresses not even some custom an*tai*nas or anything
> dude literally believes being a good lolita is a dress with a bit of poof, flower print, having a wig and acting kawaii ugu.

> tell him strapless tartan jsk would look more modest with blouse since he has such obvious shoulders so bearing it out there would be like massive tits and cleavage
> aww i know but I pull it off well and the rest of me is still lolita so that's OK!
> brushes it off
> adds that I couldn't do it coz it doesn't suit my body shape or some shit
And like the mid thigh dress and his looong legs.
> its OK tho coz I got great legs! still the rest of me is lolita! poor you you're short and don't pull it off (bitch I'm 5'4'' and AP is almost as bad as what you're try to pass off)

>What's with all the trans people lately? Why can't you like something without wanting to switch sexes?
I don't think something as extreme as sensitivity training is in order, but something sure is. Coming from someone who finds tumblr-esque SJWanking really annoying, I can say your post makes you sound a bit like an ignant bitch.
For all I know you could have meant something like:
>Why can't I find actual brolitas? Every time I think I've found one they happen to be transgender. I have no problem with them being trans, I'm just a bit disheartened because I thought I had a chance of meeting a brolita."
(Remember, if they're trans women they identify as female, and thus bro- just becomes the regular lo-)
On the internet, no one really knows what your tone is, or if you have an accent that hints at the fact that maybe English isn't your first language.
>I can't be the only one who cuts a guy some slack on their conversational english skills if an accent is heard.

I more appreciate the aesthetic but otoh, I really do like to see well turned out brolitas. I'm not sure how it would affect my attraction for them if I knew them as a brolita first, more to do with the chemistry than what they wore I suspect, same as usual for me.

I would, but I've always wondered if any brolita I meet is actually gay or figuring out some gender trans shit, so I usually talk myself down from getting all hyped up over them.

And if the brolita outs himself as straight and liking girls as well as girly stuff on first meeting he comes across as a frill fetishist, so I keep my distance from that too.

You seriously don't have to worry that much, just learn basic makeup that soften your face and make it more round and feminine, buy some good wigs, wear hight collar to conceal your Adam's apple, find the good sleeve shape to make your shoulders smaller, wear small heels to make your legs more feminine (and don't forget to shave)

And all the rest is about coordinating clothes, exactly as the next lolita.

I can't personally call it _really_ pretty because that print is too busy for me. The amount of roses and their placement is toeing in to tablecloth territory. Oh, a man is into the fashion, they're suddenly so much greater than the women who are into it! [or so much worse than the women who are into it and also terrible at it]

It's like how everyone freaks out about how great transvestites are.
They're just dudes in dresses, get over it. I'm so tired of things suddenly being validated when men do it. Lolita was cool without men and it's cool with men. What's the big deal?

there are also differences in fit/construction and choosing flattering clothes for the male body, and make up skills required to appropriately feminise male features, so making a space specifically tailored to those kinds of discussions can be useful.

"Indecisive fucking shit" is the last thing I'd call a man wearing his dresses. Because that's what brolitas are. MEN, wearing feminine clothes. If they were MtF they wouldn't be "bro"litas, they'd be regular old female lolitas.

"Guys didn't choose to be guys" applies here because people flip their shit over guys wearing dresses. They didn't choose to have the clothing interests that they do, and they didn't choose to live in a society that demonises them for it. Men used to wear heels
All kids used to wear dresses
There is zero logical reason for men not to be allowed to wear women's clothing (as long as they fit) and vice-versa.

I am a new brolita just starting out. I've found a good jumperskirt, but I have broad shoulders (45 cm/18 inches) and I can't find a blouse that isn't built for tiny 13 inch shoulders. Any suggestions on where to find something/what to do?

As a straight guy who wants to get in on this fashion, I've got a game plan in mind.

I'd fill a tumblr blog with pictures of me wearing only Elite Seagull Certified coords with full makeup and professionally styled wigs only. Anything and everything that can be scrutinized without revealing my identity will be shoved through crucible of /cgl/. Every minute detail. I'll get anyone I can trust to review my facial makeup before each shoot, whether some anon from here who can keep a secret or the third-closest pharmacy beautician. Hell, I'll even use a DSLR camera and I'll tell the touch-up guy to only edit it for clarity so people know I ain't hiding shit.(I fucking hate contrast and balancing abuse. Are some of you keeping your print a fucking secret? Just so it'll take an extra 3 seconds to find out the fact you can't iron shit?). I'll post videos of me in them if people need that much proof. I'll use a program to modulate my voice in them, or even learn how to talk chick the hard way. I'll do this for like 3 months, trying to have a regular posting sched.
Once I've established an ehh~presence online, I'll try to join my local comm with all that backup. I'll arrive just a bit later than everyone to the meet.
When I greet everyone at that meet it'll be the first time I introduce myself as male in the fashion.
>I know it's just a pipe dream, but at least I'm thinking ahead, right?
I just want to see a wave of "Wait, really?" on the internet.
Always remember kids:
"There are no boys in lolita."

Great, thanks for the advice! I wouldn't say I have overly broad shoulders (I wear a lot of small sized shirts), but the one brand blouse I own is laughably small on me. What's the difference between partial shirring and full shirring? I bought the btssb lucky pack set and thankfully being V shaped, the waist size wasn't a problem at all.

>>7371188

I'm not going to that extreme, but I am trying my best to pull off a good coord. Reading /cgl/ has been pretty good as a style book to see what works and what doesn't. Apparently my local comm (SF) is pretty cool with brolitas. I also am portioning out 25 Dollars a week to separate bank account so I can buy more brand.

Funny to read what the haters say.
Keep in mind, if you are hating this brolita thing and don't want something to do with it, why reading this whole page and make a comment? Seems like they have interrest in it deep down in some way.

for the ones who say that times has changed and just go with the flow with what most of people think is normal dressing. You are all sheep who do not dare to make your own dissisions of living.

To the ones who are discussing about that boy's/men can or can't pull it off. there are indeed ones that take it simple and just do it for attention and can't pull it off. But there are also ones that have there mind to the fashion and put lots of effort in it. We all have our thing we like and it's only said it is for a specific genre by the herd of sheep that follow someone who said that. People just live as you want to live. no one is completely the same.

Wow, I'm gone for a day and the thread devolves to shitposting and constant arguing. Kudos to that one guy who saw a thread about brolita, then decided "Hey, I should go bitch about how I don't like this thing in a thread where everybody likes that thing. That should get their panties in a twist!" News flash, dudes can like wearing dresses and such without being huge attention whores or 'tumblr SJW'.

Or, if we can get the thread back on track, then can someone tell an aspiring brolita how to sound more feminine?

that depends on how deep your voice is right now. mine isn't too deep so with a bit of pitch adjusting and practice, i can sound pretty okay.
there are also some exercises you can do to help you adjust your pitch, but once again it depends on how deep your voice is.
you might wanna look up some youtube videos on voice adjusting, those might help. but you also need to practice every day, you'll get the hang of it eventually.

>> No.7371933

How do you measure how deep your voice is? The only thing I can think of is that I was the deepest voice in choir class back in middle school. Some people say I sound like the singer from Breaking Benjamin, so let's say I'm around that level, if not a bit deeper.

>> No.7371937

>>7371933
you can always record your voice and listen, adjust pitch and record again. listening to yourself helps a lot, specially if you sort of have a voice pitch in mind.
it also helps if you have someone else who is willing to help you, they can do the listening for you.
you're still gonna need the pitch adjusting exercises, though, specially since you've told me that you were the deepest voice in the choir.

Have you ever dabbled in accents? I've found that if you keep speaking in different stereotypical accents like British, German or French, you should be able to manipulate the way your voice sounds a lot easier. Pronunciation wise, not pitch.

Measure yourself shoulder to shoulder and buy from taobao or fanplusfriend. I happen to have the same problem too and finding a brand shirt with 40cm shoulder that is also 120cm bust is almost impossible without special order.
As for your full shirring question: most brands have some sort of shirring in the back. You'll see things like No shirring, partial shirring, full back shirring and full shirring in the dress description ((I recommend looking them up on Lolibrary too)) the full shirring has it in front and back all over the torso area and its really what you want to find because of your bust. Anything should fit you just fine in the waist because of most of them having corset ties. Happy hunting, oh and the taobao you wouldn't need to do anything for because they can custom make it to your size, but take a crap load of your measurements, including how big your biceps are flexed so it's more comfortable.
