Curious, why do you say that? Assuming the item isn't of obviously poor quality and there are good reviews for the shop.

I want to start selling some of my handmade pieces and I've received interest and positive feedback from strangers (friends/family tend to pander you) but I'm still shit scared of my stuff turning up in one of these threads.

Not Etsy ,but I saw in Holly Tea Time's store on Storenvy there was a Fairy twinkle skirt - lilac and it was fucking $40 but It almost looks like one of the $6 purple skirts you can get on Ebay! It just has a slightly different waistband and has sheer sparkly fabric over it.
If I bought Ebay skirts and covered them in sparkly fabric and labelled them as fairy kei on Etsy do you think people would buy them?
The Ebay skirts are actually petty cute despite them being so inexpensive.
Also if you think this would work how much should I sell them for?

Looking through this thread is painful. I own an etsy shop, and my views have dropped significantly since January with a steady decline a few months before that. I just feel that etsy is being known as that website that sells overprice crap. For many stores, it is, but there are some gems on etsy. How do you find them when you have to sift through so much stuff? There have been times I wanted to support indie designers on etsy, but I hesitate because I feel as if I can't trust the quality.
