Also, when I was a teen I didn't had any friends and I desperately needed one. Then this girl (let's call her “H”) appeared in my life via internet. About H: she was twisted, manipulative, smelly and loved to lie. A LOT.
Didn't help that I did depend on her for tons of things (talking about problems, hanging out, internet shopping, sewing...) and kinda liked her a bit (she knew it and used it to make me jealous).
There were things she told me that I knew that weren't true or things that she did that hurt me a lot, but I was so afraid of losing her that I didn't want to face the truth.

Anyway, after chatting a bit we discovered that we're from the same city, so we started hanging out a lot and we quickly became bfs. As we became more intimate, H started telling me her “secrets” and daily drama:
>She said she had this odd illness and that she had to study at home. Other times changes the version and, instead, she's home tutored because she's bullied at school.
>Also claimed that she was nearly raped as a child and that she currently had sex with her older and younger cousins.

Somewhat unrelated but,

I met a girl on Gaia when I was 12 or 13-ish. Her name was Tavii-chan or something, she was 17-18.
We "dated", typical "I love you, let's meet when I get older!" bullshit.
Regret it to this day. Good thing my weeb stage was short.

I loved cosplay but she would't let me cosplay or help me with the costume. Like:

Then I would ask her mother (which gladly agreeded to help me) and when H found out would start to make me feel like shit by saying that I was a bad friend by siding with the enemy that hit her.
At one point she even tried to cut herself because her “bad” family relations and told me that she wanted to commit suicide with me. I would comfort her because I was stupid and cared a lot about her.

I also liked the way she dressed and complimented her a lot, so she decided that I had to be her “ouji-sama” and dressed me up like if I was her doll. Silly me did everything she said and made me buy lolita (or rather ita at that time) even though I wasn't that interested.
At that time the lolita fashion wasn't that famous and there were only like 5 girls interested in our city. I don't know how, but she met two girls in their 30s that could afford brand and shit. Every time they met to go out, H WOULD NEVER tell me, but would come to me later, crying, saying that they'd been awful to her and that she should have went out with me instead.

The last Con we went together she chose my cord, as always. But this time one of the 30girls came to the meetup and instead of make me wear something cute, she made me buy one of those crappy and shiny Chii cosplay dress. Thanks to this, she was the only teen lolita that didn't look like a lace monster and spent the time badmouthing us with 30Girl.

Fortunately, at this very Con I met my actual group of friends and started to hang out with them. I also invited H to come but she'd always find an excuse to stay home doing God knows what. Next day if I hanged out with her she'd yell at me for being a bad friend and say that I was a drunk slut that slept with all the guys of the group. Then, in the middle of the jealous-anxiety attack, would try to make out with me and start to cry when I refused (at this point I was sick and tired of her shit and only kept contact with her because I felt pity).

I hanged with her a couple of times (in which she would try to make me jealous by saying that she was the most popular girl at her new arts school, that she had tons of friends and that she fucked a lot...) and then, that very summer I tried to cut ties and eventualy stopped talking with her. I remember receiving some threatening calls and msn messages from her and her sister, but I ignored them until they finally stopped.

The only thing I regret was deleting all the msn conversations because that was a goldmine and I also lend her my full DN collection which I never got back.

Not as awful as other horror stories but heck, I don't know how I was that gullible.

basically 80% of my friends met their partners online. One is pregnant and getting married after they have been together for 6 years. One moved to a different country and they have been together for 5 years now and are getting married. One has been with her boyfriend for 8 years now and they just moved in a new flat together. One just moved in with her boyfriend of 4 years.And that is only my close friends. I know of a lot more people that are very happy with their partners that they met online. And I myself had a really good run with my boyfriend I met online, too. 4 years is not too shabby, definitelly longer than most of the ones I met offline first. Online dating can be really good. If you acutally take your time with it.

Not nearly as bad as a lot of others, but we were pretty uncomfortable. Especially considering she had horrible breath and does not brush her teeth.

I once went on a twelve-hour road trip to a con with a bunch of people. Only knew three of the eight or so beforehand. We traveled in a van together and I unfortunately happened to sit in the backseat in the middle. After making light conversation with my seat partners, I learned that the guy to my right was a total weeb. He spoke "Japanese" phrases, wore cat ears and a tail in the car, and smelled pretty bad. He also seemed to think he was the main character in an anime. As the trip progressed and it got a bit darker outside, the situation got more uncomfortable when he would pretend he was sleeping so he could put his head on my shoulder and drape his hand over my thigh. I would kind of shrug every so often so he would be forced to move his head, but after a while he would just do it again. Finally when I couldn't take it anymore, I called him out on it, and he sheepishly admitted that that was how it worked in all the anime he watched, so he thought he could subtly make a move on me. I was annoyed the rest of the way to the con, dreading what our hotel situation would look like. Luckily I managed to avoid him the rest of the con and sat somewhere else on the way back.

I mean jesus aside from everything ever written by Ken Akamatsu, (and even ten there are always convenient "hotspring/shower/public bath" scenes, so you'd think they'd pick up on the emphasis on cleaning yourself), I can't think of anything that could turn you into THAT much of a weeb.

I had a very very similar situation to you except the girl was a year above me in my school. I got bullied a lot and had a lot of problems, and I was always a bit weebish, but I knew my shit about lolita and I enjoyed anime, I just got kinda hyper kid excited about it with this girl, cause she encouraged me and sorta leeched off me.... she pretended to have the same problems I did, only worse, like it was a competition. Once she even cut herself in front of me. This loser I knew from school who used to date one of my friends. Added him on FB and Tumblr for shits and giggles, turns out he's a massive weeaboo and a borderline sexual predator. Not really dangerous, at least from what I understand, but damned annoying and overly sexual at inappropriate times. He pesters all his female friends for nudes and pulls that mopey woe-is-me bullshit when they don't comply. Constantly begs people on Tumblr to ask him about his fetishes.

He works at McDonalds or some shit and spends all his free time in his house playing video games and blogging about how he wants to be a kawaii catboy. He lives on Little Cesars (cheap shitty fast-food pizza for those who don't know) and Mountain Dew. He rarely bathes or wears deodorant, and smells like feet, old pepperoni and semen. Wants to play League of Legends professionally and is convinced this is a realistic goal. He has a younger sister who's in high school and completely amazing, and I hope to god she learns from his example and never turns out like him.

The earliest weebs grew up when CF was at his peak. He played fuckup characters, and dorky teens sometimes emulated him because they sympathized with them. Then he died suddenly in 1997, and most everybody quickly forgot about him. But I think younger teens copied older teens, and so on, and by 2007 there were weebs basing their personalities around a decade-old comedy act without even realizing what they were doing. And they fused it with Jhonnen Vasquez.

I have a password that was from my weeb stage. It's about KINGDUM HARTS YOWEE LOL SEW RANDUM LOLOLOLOL SMEXY and I still use it. It's a foolproof way of making sure nobody ever finds out what it is.

So my roommate and I decided to go to a local con. She wants to meet up with a friend at the con, that's cool. I'm excited because I spent a lot of time perfecting my coordinate with my newly arrived dream dress. Anyways, we get to the con and meet up with Meredith. She's wearing a closet genderbend Naruto cosplay and is LOUD but whatever.

So we're walking around the artist alley and someone asks to take my picture. I strike a pose and then hear this thump. Meredith has passed out. A small crowd gathers and she's still out but making these moaning sounds. Then she gets up, refuses any rest of medical attention, blows off our concern, and insists on still enjoying the con. Until about an hour later when someone else asked for a picture with me and she passed out again.

By the fourth fainting spell, I told my roommate that I wanted to go do something and spent the rest of the day by myself. Meredith didn't pass out again after I left. Roommate apologized later but wouldn't talk to Meredith about it.

The funny thing is that at least a few people in the group I initially tried to make friends with had good taste, but only one of them, a "Frank" actually acted like a decent human being. I went out of my way to be friendly with them and they just were just totally apathetic/socially unskilled towards me. I still can't tell whether they didn't want to hang out with me, or if they were so horrifically antisocial/socially unskilled because of autism that they made literally no attempt one way or the other to encourage or discourage me. After he left I pretty much stopped trying.

Later at University I made actual friends that acted like human beings and had other interests besides anime, but those initial people were alienating. Looking back it actually seems creepy in some of the extreme cases. When you meet a real person that's all "Mersault" levels of apathy and almost doll like autism, it weirds you out.

Because that's how some of them were. Even the actual guy with Aspergers I made friends with has better social skills than them because he HAD social skills.

I didn't really go through more of a weeaboo phase other than wanting to visit japan and speak japanese, I was more of an intense otaku, obsessing over anime not really Japan. I kind of thank it though, during that phase I wanted to try so hard to draw anime, and I have continuously been doing it over the years, but that somehow turned into me actually having an interest in art as a whole, which I am actually now studying. It could be worse, I guess, I didn't form any pseudo-relationsips and was never exposed as a fraud. Oh, he also got his provisional driving licence (which says you can drive, but only with an adult in the car to teach you), and just took off in a mini and crashed it. God knows how he got out of that one (I think his parents were pretty rich and just paid off the other driver). He was still with his "girlfriend" at the time, and didn't want to tell her about it to "worry" her. But I didn't know that and mentioned "the accident" in passing. Then there was all dramu about that.

Hmm, there was another guy who said he had been to Japan, but then told me £1 was 5000 yen (it's more like 150).I actually thought that was true until I went to Japan nearly 10 years later.

I have 3 separate stories, this is the first.

I was a freshman in high school and I knew no one in the area, I met a senior girl who drew a lot of anime style stuff and I was into drawing anime too, so we became friends. She wasn't bad, but because of her many people wouldn't talk to me and she was super sensitive so, I had to be really careful about what I said and how, especially if it involved teeth because hers were very jagged. She would also wear "I Love Yaoi" bracelets or poorly done cosplay. I ended up becoming friends with Army ROTC guys and separated myself from the weeb I use to be and stopped associating with her. Years later, we talk a bit every now and then. I feel bad for not talking to her, but she's like 25 and still does not have it together. I certainly did not want to end up like that. I also made huge art improvements, while she has almost receded.

My senior year of high school I ended up transferring because my old school shut down. There was this quiet asian boy that people would pick on. He would love to talk about Blazblue (his favorite character is Noel) and some other video games. I felt bad and became his friend, but after that he would start to come to me with problems and he couldn't speak English very well and was always vague about what he was talking about. The language barrier I could work with, but he just made it very to communicate with him. Sometimes he would come in wearing a beret and white gloves and would say he's cosplaying Noel and other students would make fun of him. He was the male version of the girl I met my freshman year, in a way.

I was starting my first year of college and I barely watched anime or read any manga (except for Tiger&Bunny which was and still is a big thing for me). I just wanted to focus on graduating (I went to a 2 year college and will be graduating in a week!). I was sitting in an open area for students and I don't even remember how the conversation began, but this guy was telling me about the anime he'd watch and I was happy I was talking to somebody, so I would name some stuff and he'd just say he'd never heard of it and he'd just watch whatever was on netflix and he kind of had a superiority complex about it (why???).

Oh and a bonus, from this year, there was a new student in my major and he would talk forever, no matter how much you wanted to stop the conversation. I felt bad (I need to stop doing that) and decided to keep up the conversation with him so my friends (and professors) could have a break. He brought up the topic of anime and how he met his wife online because of it and one of my friends turned to me and was like "Oh..!" but I silently made a signal to keep it to herself. I completely dodged a bullet there.

Getting this out has made me feel a lot better, there's no one I could mention any of these stories to these past few years that would even understand.

Back on topic, I feel the need to confess what I use to be like. In all honesty, I don't think I was so bad. I was introduced to anime and manga back in kindergarten by two vietnamese girls who really loved Sailor Moon and would let me read the manga when they'd bring it in and we'd use tracing paper to copy our favorite panels.

I was mostly into stuff like Yu Yu Hakusho, Big O and Inuyasha, most of the stuff on Toonami really. It wasn't until middle school, when I finally got a home internet connection, that I got into other stuff (including BL/Yaoi. Thanks deviantArt.). I would (try to) sing my favorite anime openings and would draw a lot hoping to go to art school (pic related: my drawing then and now). I overused emoticons and the -chan -desu and -ka's and had that typical dream of going to Japan (I went during High School). Looking back, I think what I regret most was having a gross self image. Now, I'm thankful that I'm able to hide my power level and look decent (I wear a fandom shirt every now and then, but nothing too crazy). I had a lot of fun with the anime kids I met in middle school, they were great friends, but I'm a lot more careful now, especially after reading the horror story threads or posts on tumblr. I'm sorry if any of this sounds boring, I don't have many crazy horror stories to share.

I've had a bunch of crappy weeby experiances in the past but there are a few that take the cake so I'll give them to /cgl/

The first one is when I was in middle school.
I had my weeb phase hitting the high point when I met this girl Q. I wasn't good at reading people back then since in Elementary school I litterally had no friends. She took the initiative and reached out to me. I had a huuge thing for yu-gay-ho back then and she saw me with a pack of cards I guess, so I get a tap on the shoulder since she's sitting behind me and she hands me her note book and asks me to read some OC insert ygo fanfic. And because this was the first time I had ever met anyone so interested in what I liked never thought twice about what kind of person she was. I regret everything.
From then on until only a few years ago I was this girls friend.
the middle school years went like this:

I was introduced to her friends after a while and I found out what manga was.
