My credit card number was stolen by an AX staff member for sure. My card was only used to buy tix online and hadnt been used for months before that.

Its probably some disgruntled downtown LA scum. They charged just 400$ chase refunded it no questions asked but still pissed.

It would have sucked if it was my debit card as it would be a huge PITA to update all my autopay bill accounts.

I just want to let them know in case its happening to others. I really think its an AX staff thats somehow accessing payment info. I picked up my badge on day 1 and the woman said she had been there from 8am-6:30 with no breaks. That would be a pretty good reason to be disgruntled and pissed at AX.

I went with friends on days 1 and 2. My friends couldn't come on day 3 so I ended up going alone, and I ended up having the most fun that day. I guess it's because I was able to enjoy the day at my own pace without having the worry about anyone else.

Yesterday there was this pretty good ryuko cosplayer in the hall. Bunch of people taking her pics etc. Suddenly some guy comes out of nowhere and puts a camera under her skirt and takes a pic and runs away. The fucker was so quick he was gone before people realized what had happened. I have never seen someone move so quick in my life. Shit was impressive. I felt sorry for the poor girl she felt so violated. The look on her face was priceless.

i had to solo it this year since i was only able to go thursday and friday while friends were free saturday sunday.

still had a fucking blast. panels seemed like they were easier to get to since youre by yourself and you can look around the con at your own pace.
of course the downside is that you dont have anyone to talk to when you see something interesting.

I've never been to AX but I've always been curious about it. Travel and hotel will be pretty expensive since I'm a few states away. I am used to 10,000+ attendee conventions, though I'm aware that AX is on another scale altogether. Should I sign up and go for it?

Had a decent time the days I was there though the line sucked to get in. I didn't go to many panels, mostly just gatherings. Though the Touhou panel blew chunks, not sure who's the austist behind it.

Personal opinion time: It's a 6/10 for me.

Pros.
>At con registration was pretty good for day one (and I'm only saying this because I got there around 8 AM or 9-ish)
>Having the cosplay repair station in the Entertainment Hall was nice. Easy to find
>Tabletop gaming had a nice variety (but fuck not having a $5 or $10 FNM standard tourney)
>Artist Alley was pretty nice. I personally saw more of a variety of art styles & there were some nice deals here and there.

Cons.
>Line Con 2014. Jesus man, I finally see why people were telling AX to move the venue.
>They were really pushing the ticketing system this year for autographs & whenever I talked to the staff with questions in regards to it, most of them couldn't give me a straight answer
>Staff was usually out of the loop on the panel updates or were generally uninformative (see above)
>Arcade was small as hell this year
>On day two, if you didn't go to the Sailor Moon, Space Dandy and/or the SAO panels, there was nothing much to do. Day two was boring as shit for me in the beginning since I missed the SM, SD panels & day two autograph sessions.


That's all I can think up at the moment. All in all, it was slightly better than last year only because it was only my boyfriend & I who went in comparison to the extra two to three people who usually come with us, so we didn't have anyone else getting on our nerves.

The line thay separates the distinction between hobo and cosplayer is found in 7th St., in Long Beach, the convention center is just right next to hobo central.

I kind of fucked up at this con. I was cosplaying all the time in a giant group with my friends I've known all my life. We just hung out together the entire time, getting our picture taken 24/7. They're crazy drunks I had to babysit them the entire time and wasn't able to meet any cool new people.

I would have actually liked to meet some people who are into otaku culture instead of just hanging out with normalfags who don't even watch anime and just play league of legends.

i've gone to most cons alone. when i started to attend cons around 2004 i sorta felt lonely but after experiencing 2 cons with group of friends i changed my mind. going alone is the best thing you can do. you meet so many cool people which is the best part about cons and you can just fuck off if they're going to go do something you're not interested in and meet a whole set of new people at the next line and hang out and repeat the process.

Current staffer here. AX is stuck at it's current location for 1 year more our current contract with the LACC. So AX is staying put for 1 more year. Due to the down town remodeling that is going to happen in the next few years. Part of the LACC is being torn down, so AX will have to move after 2015. The 2 top contenders right now is where SDCC is held, with is very unlikely. (The board want to keep it in the LA-ish area.) So everyone is betting that it's going to be moved to the remodeled Anaheim convention center.

The west wing of the LACC is being torn down to make room for the new Farmer's Field foot ball stadium which they want finished by 2016. I feel so bad for anyone who waited in line for events. When i walked by the Spiral Cats line, they had everyone waiting outside. At noon. With zero shade. I did see them giving out free water on Sat, but.. not where it was needed? They were standing near the food trucks, should have taken it to the various lines and shit.

They also need to find a solution to people stopping in the WORST POSSIBLE PLACES FOR PHOTOS. Holy shit. At one point a guy was taking photos of a spiderman cosplayer, taking up the entire hallway, no space to go around behind him. Partied hard then headed to the westin pool deck at like 4am and spent like fucking 4 hours listening to an atheist and a christian argue till sunrise at the westin pool deck. Then again, I don't have quite the same money constraint as other anons. I only go to one or two cons a year, so $60 once or twice doesn't hit my pocketbook very hard. Debating on grabbing a premier pass since I missed so many panels this year. Two years ago, I would just waltz inside any room 30 minutes after the panel began and they allowed standing room or seats could still be open. Overcrowding is definitely an issue.

The one thing I really like about LACC is how convenient it is to get to with public transit. I commute from the IE and I can take trains all the way there and easily zip over to Little Tokyo and such for dinner.

Here was my experience:
Great time overall
ultra diverse crowed - everything from fuck hygiene fedoras to fit bro
seems like a lot of people are there to just walk around - not a lot of the events I went to had a crowed comparable to the size of the overall expo

they need to expand the venue or sell less tickets because it gets to fucking crowded.
also, there were some interesting smells for sure.
def. not taking my gf next year. she was a drag the whole time.

7/10 I have pretty much the same complaints as everyone else. Too much people, long lines, kept bumping into others, and no where to sit. I was very polite so I got along with staff well. I got there early for pre reg line and got in pretty fast, but there was a lot of fuck ups with people's receipts not in the system and some of my friends had to wait in assisted service lines. I got to see all the events I wanted though I had to wait in the sun for a bit. Since i was in league cosplay for 2 days and a nice rioter gave me and my friends water. I think the thing that bummed me out most is that the ratio of cosplayers seem to go down dramatically this year especially good ones. I've got nothing against neckbeards but that's pretty much all i saw everywhere
