I would definitely let snails crawl around on my face! I use cetaphil, then moisturise. At night I use either face oil or a ton of moisturiser around my eyes so I dont get wrinkles. Im already developing nasolabial folds so I moisturise and massage there as well. Sometimes I steam my face then exfoliate. Wash it with yogurt and honey afterwards. feels so nice...

So does anyone have some kind of guide to shaving and how to do it properly?

It seems that I can never get all the hair off my legs. It's like the razor just brushes over them and smooths them out, even if I'm using one that's fresh out of the package. I have a friend with a similar problem who says they get weird stubble patches after they shave. Any advice?

There are seriously so many toners out there that are alcohol free. Almost every major mid-range or prestige brand will do one for dry/sensitive skin that doesn't have alcohol in it.

I've been using a Clarins facial oil for about three months (the one for oily/combo skin) and it's definitely helped tone down my breakouts, but I'm still getting a lot of tiny pimples under the skin that never come to a head and milia too. Been thinking about trying out a low dose of something like doxycycline (through a doc of course), any one here had any experiences with that? My acne is pretty mild, but my skin just isn't healing the way it used to and now the scarring/redness is taking a lot longer to fade (I'm mid-twenties, and have to wear make up every day for work so that doesn't help).

Skincare routine- morning
>Foaming cleanser (exfoliate once or twice a week)
>Tone
>One drop facial oil + light moisturiser

Night
>Makeup remover or cleansing oil
>Toner
>Facial oil
>Hydrating or deep cleansing mask depending on what the fuck my skin is doing

Fuck yea snails get on my face.

Being hydrated in general is what's good for your skin. Herbal teas can be pretty good for you, but water is just as good or better in some cases. Just be sure to avoid caffeinated beverages or ones that are high in sugar. Essentially if it's bad for your teeth/body it's probably bad for your skin in the long run.

As for how often to moisturize, twice a day is pretty good, but it all really depends on your skin type, the quality of moisturizer, and how often you're applying sunscreen as well.

You'll need to pay attention to your skin and figure out what works for you more specifically than any tuts/recs we can give you, though we can offer you a good guideline!

I posted in the old skincare thread - 23 yrs old, mixed half asian half white, have had acne problems for almost ten years etc. Since last posting I have changed foundations at someone's suggestion, and have started taking a multi-vitamin, magnesium, fish oil, and a st. john's wort mixture. My skin has not gotten any better and I unfortunately don't have a dermatologist appointment until the 29th.

I'm already stressed and the fact that my skin is probably worse than it has ever been in my life is really not helping at all so I'm looking for any suggestions at all.

Currently the stuff I use on my face are rite-aid eye cream I think it's knock off of a neutrogena product, Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing gel-cream, (both are used morning and evening), in the morning after I put on moisturizer I use Etude House Sunprise spf 30, Hourglass primer, a mix of Skin79 BB (green bottle) and CoverGirl clean sensitive skin (bb was too light for my skin tone, so I mix them to match my color), and Airspun loose face powder to set. I use extra virgin olive oil to take my makeup off, then cleanse with DHC deep cleansing oil, then with Alaffia Authentic African black soap in Lavender YlangYlang, and use Etude house wonder pore freshner as toner, then spot treat with 15% tea tree oil. At night I use retin-a once every three days. I take a generic Yaz hormonal birth control as well (this has been consistent for the past 5 years).

I'm pretty sure all of my products are non-comedogenic and shouldn't be breaking me out but I could be wrong.

I've been to three dermatologists and an aesthetician at this point and maybe the one I'm seeing later this month can help but I'm doubtful. There's one asian derm in my city and I'm trying to get an appointment with her but that could be months from now. Please please help any advice would be amazing. pic related - my left side is worse than my right but not by very much.

Happa Friend #2 changed her diet/sleeping schedule. She completely cut junk food, oily foods, and dairy. Skin started clearing up in a couple weeks.

Cutting dairy and spicy foods, changing pillowcases and towels more often (twice a week), avoiding the sun, and drinking a liter of water everyday has helped a lot. I don't have redness anymore and just a pimple or two now and then.

I've been considering hormones as the cause bc nothing seems to be working, and I've had some other weird stuff going on, mainly loss of interest in sex and relationships and constantly tired. Not sure if it's PCOS though because I have very little hair growth on my body, I'm in low/average weight range, and regular/light menstruation, though that could be due to BC. Not sure if tiredness/no interest in sex is depression or just normal. Would a derm be able to figure out PCOS or should I make an appointment with OBGYN/endocrinologist?

I've changed BC brand only one time for a couple months - to orthotricyclin low but I switched back because it didn't really help with acne and it turned me into a raging bitch. Both tanning and burning are (primarily) caused by UVB radiation so any sunscreen with a decent (30+) SPF will protect against both. There is no such thing as a sunscreen that only protects against burning but not tanning. People who still tan while wearing sunscreen are using an SPF that’s too low or not reapplying it often enough. It also depends greatly on your skin, since some people tan easily without burning and other people just burn. Tanning without incurring sunburn can therefore be very tricky if you don’t have the right skin type for that.

On the other hand, preventing both burning and tanning is easy – wear high SPF sunscreen. Broad spectrum refers to sunscreens that also protect against UVA radiation which contributes to aging and loss of elasticity.

>> No.7855960

>>7854487
>>7855958
There are two types of sunscreen ingredients: chemical and physical.
Chemical sunscreen ingredients interact with your skin and absorb the energy of UV radiation. This alters their chemical composition, which means that after absorbing a certain amount of energy they become saturated. This is why you have to reapply every two hours at least. There are many types of chemical sunscreens. Most are safe but some are iffy. Not many them protect against all UVB (which is itself a spectrum) and very few protect against UVA. Broad spectrum suncreens with chemical actives therefore generally include many different ingredients to protect against as many different wavelengths of UV as possible.
Physical (or ‘mineral’) sunscreen ingredients are a much smaller group, consisting of zinc oxide (ZnO) and titanium dioxide (TiO2). These sit on top of your skin and reflect the energy rather than interacting with it, so unlike chemical sunscreens they don’t degrade. You only really have to reapply if you’re sweating a lot, rubbed it off, etc. ZnO is the best protector out there. It protects against everything in the UV spectrum and then some. It also gives off a white cast (since it reflects light) and tends to be thick and greasy, which is why many people opt for chemical sunscreens instead.

>>7854487
>>7855958
>>7855960
So it all boils down to what exactly you want out of your sun protection. If you’re out in the sun for 3 hours at a time I’d personally go for something with a high ZnO content so you don’t have to reapply halfway through. It also depends on how hot it will be – since greasier sunscreens are obviously less preferable in heat – and on how much sun you will be getting. If you’re out in the blazing sun you’ll need high protection (50+) but if it’s not so bad you can go for something lower (25-30) which won’t be as greasy. If you prefer something more cosmetically elegant and don’t mind reapplying, go for chemical. I like both Neutrogena and Banana Boat sunscreens for short-term non-greasy non-smelly protection.

I posted about this before (not on /cgl/) and got a bunch of responses that I was "using it wrong" and calling me an idiot. It's not like this shit has a super complex instruction manual. Spread a small amount of it on your skin, moisturize, wear SPF over it during the day. How hard can it be? Actually, the stuff I was using claims to be usable without moisturizer over it. Fuck that.

2) I need to buy a moisturizer for my face, but don't know where to start. I've been told to get something behind-the-counter. I get very flaky skin everytime my face gets wet. What does /cgl/ use?

1 - Crystal is great and hypo-allergenic. There's unscented and scented versions, I got mine off iherb.
2 - for starters try something with the least irritants you can find, then go harsher if you can't find anything that works. You likely have dry skin. I know many lasses here get really anally annihilated when people say no harmful ingredients and immediately put you in the same box as the "vegan and natural only, no harmful chemicals pls :D" people, but the reason why you should start out with cosmetics formulated for picky skin is simply a matter of playing it safe and not having to wonder later on what is it in that concoction that breaks you out. Skin is different from person to person and instead of debating what is bad4u or not, we should look at ít from a "what may irritate me, personally" pov. Especially if you haven't tried something before.
I claim to be no expert on this, surely, but that's what I think.

Speaking of which - I just got back from a trip to Eastern Europe and got some interesting skin care products and experiences, if anyone's interested.

I think there's two things to take into consideration here.
The first one is that you're applying a lot of stuff in your face. What you usually need is a three-step line, which is cleanser, toner, and cream, with exfoliation twice a week, or maybe none, depending on how good your skin is.

Second, this looks like more of a medical condition, more than the products themselves. I'd probably wait until the appointment to see what's causing this.

So, then I offered more natural options. People then found a way around that and bitched about how natural is stupid and how we should all just be changing our diets, completely ignoring that acne isn't exclusive to diet or water intake or changing your pillowcases.

Sorry, but I only came back to see the disaster because a friend who actually used to do a lot of the suggestions along with me linked me. My issue has never been about people not taking my advice, but rather getting bitched at by people who are either completely ignorant or condescending. People see the name of a brand and flip their shit or if a few anons request something and it's delivered, in the very next breath, someone is quoting those suggestions and bitching about why they're shitty yet not offering legitimate reasons as to -why- they are shitty. And, this does suck because my Mizon shit came this week and I know it would've helped anons here, but dude? I'm fucking drained and if this post doesn't portray that enough, I don't know what will.

I've noticed that the anons who get defensive are the ones who either are ignorant, read about someone in here correcting a mistake someone else is making, and then come to quote the anon and turn it into a personal thing because they feel attacked even if they weren't the one in question and nobody would have known if they just didn't post, at all. The others are of low income and try to get condescending about what products others use because it makes them feel better about the fact that they're either incapable or just too cheap. Nobody (well, nobody sane) faults people who honestly can't afford certain products and for those who are of low income, cost effective solutions such as natural or good drugstore brands have been recommended for them. However, I don't really see the point in derailing an entire advice thread in order to throw shade at someone just because they're able to afford shit that you can't. People try to act like anything expensive is automatically shit, despite having never used any of it themselves. It's true that not everything that is highly priced works for everyone, but that is literally all skin care; What is the holy grail for one girl is going to be money wasted for another, until she finds her own perfect fit. And, instead of realizing this, people dub a product "shitty" and try to force others into not using something that may very well work for them. That's pretty cunty and selfish, really.

As for cosDNA, that website tells everyone something that is common sense; Shit can irritate you, but it doesn't mean it will or that it's the case for everyone. The anons forcing it onto others got miffed when people didn't automatically bow to their word, which makes me less inclined to trust them.

tl;dr We have cunts getting arrogant and thinking they're professionals because they can scan things without actually knowing everyone's individual skin, what it does and doesn't react to, etc.

Man, me too.
Some of us have tried this shit on our faces but there is always someone who's going to inevitably bitch about it, either because of the price, or because of the supposedly harmful ingredients.

I used to be somewhat active on these threads and then I started to get bitched at for my suggestions, had a couple anons saying "that product is shitty" without offering any better options, and just nah. As someone who has used both natural and "chemicals", I don't think there's anything wrong with paying attention to what you put on your face. I stopped feeling like I could suggest anything (and apparently, judging by these other posts, I'm not alone) because cosCUNTS and wannabe vegans decided to derail every single thread with their bullshit. They thought they were helping, but they wound up discouraging people from helping and that's why the last few threads have been shit in terms of broad advice. It's become the same people suggesting coconut oil and aloe over and over, which obviously isn't going to help everyone.

I remember the shill comment and I still don't understand what was up that anon's ass. There's nothing wrong with suggesting a brand, especially since those same anons suggest brands like Thayer's.

And, when you ask them for a suggestion of their own they still reply with condescending remarks and act like you're some sort of cunt for daring to question them.

You just can't fucking win with these people and the worst part of all is that I literally don't understand what their problem is. If you don't like these threads, don't post. Hide them. If you don't like a product, why do you need to quote the person? You're not using it, it's being suggested to someone else. Nobody cares if the popular girl you bore a grudge against in high school used Chanel, so you now have a hateboner for anyone who uses it.

I think the problem was the lack of suggestions and people misunderstanding some posts.
I remember some people started to get defensive and say some suggestions were more like anons trying to force the product on them, but that was far from the truth. What I saw was people dumping these lists without any backup for their arguments and just turned discussions into "natural vs chemical".

We get that some products, especially the ones loaded with fragrance, can be irritating for your skin, but a lot of anons in here post their problem and specify what kind of skin they have, so most, if not all of the advice they get is given with all these things in mind.

Besides, your skin might react wonderfully or horribly to certain stuff, we don't know this [neither do the people who bitch about these products], so it's really up to the person asking for advice whether or not to take these suggestions.

Another thing is that some of us are not well versed in drugstore or cheap brands because our skin doesn't react well to them.

I have very sensitive skin that will break out if I am not careful with what I buy. Nivea caused me a really bad rash on my cheeks and Eucerin has also caused me dryness and massive pimples on my forehead. I had to switch to more expensive brands because those seem to be the ones that work. To some people Clinique is expensive, but to me it's worth the price. I cannot afford to get shit skin just so I save myself some money. Sometimes quality is indeed proportional to price and skincare is one of those things where this applies. So basically, I think people should be less bitchy and go straight to giving advice and suggestions they feel are better.

>Missha Time Revolution - First Treatment Essence
>Missha Super Aqua Ultra Water-full Intensive Serum
>Nature Republic Cranberry Peeling Gel

So far I've tried everything once except the last one.

>Angel Tears Bulgarian Rose
Previously used Body Shop's Seaweed Clarfying Toner, and Formula 10.0.6 Deep Pore Cleanser (ignore the name, it's applied like a toner). Both of those gave a slight burning sensation on my face and dried it like a bone, this didnt.
Smelt fruity for a rose. Somewhat moisturizing. Nice clean finish! Didn't feel as dry as the others did. Noice.

>Missha First Treatment Essence
Watery stuff that gave a slightly sticky finish. I only got an Essence because apparently it's what's part of a proper skin care routine in Korea. Which is why I'm blogging on 4chan about it.
Apparently this will help with intense moisturization, lets see how it goes.

>Missha Super Aqua Ultra Water-full Intensive Serum
Haven't gotten to the moisturization stage yet since I'm typing this, been on my face for 5 mins+ and my face is more stickier than with the Essence.

>Nature Republic Cranberry Peeling Gel
Apparently use 1-2 a week, leave it on your face for a minute and then rub it in - it "peels" and becomes an exfoliate.
Made my sebaceous bumps on my nose feel smoother, still bumpy though. Tasty scent!

trying to aggressively combat the acne, if it's stress related, can make it worse. just keep up with your normal skincare routine, putting a gentle spot treatment on the pimples as they appear. take a self care day, relax with your favourite drink, and put a warm towel on your face. My mom has been a heavy drinker(now sobering up thank god), and still smokes quite a lot. We get mistaken for sisters all the time, plus she's also still carded regularly.

However, my mom is an esthetician, and takes care of her skin, but I'm still surprised she looks as good as she does when she has smoked for so long. I don't smoke or drink, and have a thorough skincare routine, so god help me if I age worse than her...

I'd be really hesitant to buy anything for my face on Ebay because of the HUGE amount of fakes that are on there. I usually buy the My Beauty Diary masks on Amazon, because if I get it from a seller that says "fulfilled by Amazon" it generally means that it's genuine. They cost roughly $13 for a box of 10, which is the cheapest you can get for a consistently good product. I use them at night for my skincare routine with a light moisturizer and cleanser in the morning, because you can keep several types on hand to individually treat each issue as it happens. My current two favorites are the Royal Jelly and Apple masks, Naruko is my second favorite brand, but they're a bit pricier if you want the good stuff and they only take credit card, the shipping is a lot slower too.

What do you think of using a Toner to cleanse the face in the morning?

I wake up in the morning and my face feels a touch oily (naturally oily/combo skin).

I wash my face at night before bed, and all I do in bed is sleep (I sleep on a fresh towel over my pillow), so why do I need to wash my face as thoroughly as I do after a day's worth of makeup, or day sweating etc?

She asked whether there was a "safe" way to tan because she felt like she looked better with a bit of colour. I explained that technically there is no "safe" way to tan because tanning is your body's reaction to damage i.e. there is no way to tan without incurring SOME skin damage.
I then told her that she had three options:
>accept that she's naturally pale
>try fake tan
>get a real tan anyway and fuck the police
At no point did I tell her that she should never leave her house without sunscreen or that she was going to die of cancer. I just laid down the facts.

Toner comes first right after cleansing, then moisturiser. Toner can shrink pores and get rid of cleanser or makeup residue, stripping it of excess oil to prep for moisturising

Though, some people say that toner is unnecessary and outdated was was only needed back when cleansers left a heavy residue, but it does help oily, acne prone skin in stripping away the excess oil.

I also had acne at a young age and at 13 I had full skincare routine, but did nothing for it; I just gave up on all these things and started using only aloe and oats (did not work either, but was gentler with my skin, and does something for acne scars), only thing that work was vitamin A taken orally and spironolactone.

I'm recovering from a disease and for about six months I couldn't have a proper skin care regimen, I also had to spend a lot of money on meds and I am low on cash right now, I don't have any products for my skin.

My skin looks like this (ignore the eye infection and skin color, I'm asian/hispanic; that is not me) basically; oily but dehydrated, clogged pores and flaky skin mixed with oil in them, and acne scars, I'm also prone to acne on my jaw area.

I know I have to exfoliate ASAP but don't have a product, what else should I do to improve my skin. Can anyone recommend
-A cleanser
-Moisturizer
-Something to exfoliate
-Something that would help my gross skin condition

I also have acne-prone sensitive combination skin. This is what works for me, I still break out occasionally but honestly even when I was on a harsh face wash and taking anti-acne meds I still would get zits so there's no total miracle cure.

>Clean and Clear Morning Burst Gel Moisturiser, in the morning before makeup and at night after I take my makeup off
>L'Oreal 360 Clean Anti-Acne Face Wash (the included little scrublet does wonders to exfoliate without being too harsh)
>Mix of brown sugar and olive oil (two parts sugar to one part oil) to exfoliate once a month or so, apply in the show and gently rub it in, DON'T scrub it. Rinse and follow with the anti-acne face wash and moisturise. Don't do this too often because it will irritate your skin if you do it frequently, and be sure you moisturise afterwards.
>If you can't avoid picking at your acne occasionally put Neosporin on top of the open wound when you're done, this will help the acne heal quicker. If you have serious scars from acne, not just dark marks, you really should see a doctor, that's an indication of cystic acne which really can't be treated any way besides prescription grade stuf.
>When wearing makeup, use a primer (if you're a broke ass like me, Monistat Anti-Chafing Gel has the exact same ingredients and effect as Smashbox and Benefit's primers). It'll create a barrier between your skin and makeup, making you less likey to break out, and it will help your makeup apply evenly and stay in place (even on oily patches).
>DON'T use a talc powder. Talc is a common ingredient in face powders but it's highly comodogenic to lots of people especially those who have acne. Use a 100% silica powder instead.

I used to use Proactive because it did make my skin look good, but the problem with Proactive is that it's very damaging to skin and if you stop using it, your acne will come back in full force. For me, the gentler system and just using concealer when necessary works far better.

As for you, I can't factor in your budget since it depends on the prices where you live, the currency and availability of products but what you can do as an emergency for today is to wash with lukewarm water, exfoliate with a wash-cloth as gently as you can and put the gentlest cream you have on your face. If you have nothing in your home that can be used then go without for now.
As soon as you are able, please head to the chemist's and look for skin-care products. You may ask them to recommend you a product to help your skin.
I am no doctor, so if you don't resolve the issue within a reasonable time or, lord forbid, make it worse, please visit a dermatologist.

I know you'd rather buy cheap skincare products but I don't think chemist ones cost much more and the quality is generally more reliable, plus they cater to more skin types.

That said, a gentle cleanser I use myself and one that lots of ladies here have had good experience with is the Decubal Foaming Face Wash (here also called "Decubal Basic Face Wash"). In Canamerica one that we found a while ago that was very cosmetically elegant was Burt's Bees Radiant (or Radiance?) Cleanser. I think I saw it here in Yuropoor as well.
For exfoliating look up AHA or BHA chemical peels since they're gentler than physical exfoliants, but if you still want a physical one you may have luck with a konjac sponge or a face brush such as Tosowoong (manual) or Clarisonic/Olay/Tosowoong (those electric ones, but they tend to be pricey).
For moisturising, if your skin is oily try SebaMed's ClearFace Moisturising Gel or if that's too weak, or you can't find it, I'll help you find another brand if you like.
If it ends up being too weak give those simple creams a try, go stronger and thicker. During winter I had to use Vaseline on my face to seal in the moisture and even used one of those big tubs of lardy cream that I would normally only buy for polishing shoes and bags.

Nope. You're going to have to lose weight. If you want to build muscle after you lose weight, try leg lifts for your inner thighs and bicep curls, bench press, and overhead press for your arms. Don't do crunches and shit like that to get abs, because it's hilaribad for your spine even with "proper" form. If you really want, you can try planks with different positions for your abs and obliques, but abs have more to do with diet and body type than exercise.

Some people talk about 'toning' to mean to spot reduce fat. IE "How do I lose weight on my inner thighs?" Since you can only lose overall fat, it's frustrating to hear people talk like this. It sounds like you're asking "How do I build muscle on my inner thighs", which would be the reasonable result. The other Anon's advice would be good for that.
I usually avoid using the term 'tone' since so many people improperly use it with this definition.
