I could use some help with this. I'm awful at accessorizing properly, and I'm not sure what sort of legwear/shoes to use.

I have a pair of bodyline platform heels I was thinking about using but idk they might look bad with it. Also the two wigs shown are just ones that I already have, would be willing to buy a new one as well.

Perhaps untucked with a different blouse but tbh anon, with the one you have on in the pic, it looks really awkward untucked - it needs to be something more fitted with a frill detail at the bottom that kicks out a little. I liked anon's necklace idea, although i think gold and red would be ideal ( something smallish, not too chunky and overwhelming), and something that falls in the space between your blouse and the bolero.

Wow you are new if you think that's bullying. Generally you should never mix pure white and off white because the off white will tend to just look dirty in comparison. Especially in natural light. Since the overall feel of this is elegant, I second the boots suggested by >>8156979 and suggest going for the bonnet + wig. If you want a non-roses option, I would wear maroon lace tights, and silver gothic-styled jewellery with dark red gems.

>>8156978
I wouldn't wear both brown boots and black cross leggings. I think the blue will go better with brown because of the gold accents.

>>8157979
Corset skirts look fine provided you have some waist and aren't totally straight up and down, decent ones will define your waist (and make boobs look larger, particularly with ruffles on top). With such a ruffly cutsew, you can get away without a necklace and if it's long-sleeved, without a bracelet as well - rings are optional, so really all you would need is a headbow to match your skirt. That skirt is very classic in my opinion so maybe look for second-hand Atelier Pierrot instead...

>>8156988
I think it's cute and well-matched - but I second the idea of a pop of red (pendant, or lose the headbow and grab Minnie ears once you get there!)

>>8158382
This is pretty nope, I think sax x white x mint x pastel dress is a bit much. I would have gone for the mint green and lilac since those are the colours of the cross straps, so keep the blouse, replace the sax things with lilac and tights with mint green or multi-pastel socks. >>8158386 is better and far more cohesive.

I love this anon! I don't think it's too white at all, I think a few little extra editions could really help it to pop though. I think the blouse is fine but I agree that a short sleeved perhaps chiffony looking blouse would look even better (my example isn't the best but hopefully you get the idea). I love the idea of a navy ribbon side bow to match the one on the top of the jsk too, as just a little pop of blue color (only a suggestion rather than something I feel is necessary). It would be easy enough to tie the bow neatly to the headband. I think a little gold starfish necklace above the jsk neckline would be super cute too, and then perhaps a similar keychain on the bag to add interest. I think your shoes are fine but since the accessories are slightly elegant, I think a small heel on the shoe would look even better and work more with the look you have going.

the hair bow is blue though and if she goes with the white shoes and maybe adds a blue (pos dusky pink/mauve) bag, I reckon it will all balance out nicely (esp with subtle blue makeup). Default choices for matching pastels is white and pastels, you can mix them freely so long as you keep an eye on the proportions so you don't end up looking like a pastel Rainbow Brite.

Assuming you have the matching headbow and socks, the easy option is to go for matching blouse and shoes, and repeat the colour in your accessories. Probably the most obvious is white blouse and shoes, but you can also do pink blouse and pink shoes, or yellow blouse and yellow shoes (whatever suits your skintone).

I think it'll be easier to pull this off with the skirt than with a jsk or something, so you're in luck. Definitely don't shoehorn any extraneous themes like the skeleton tights in pic related, or bats, or eyeballs or whatever. I think if you stuck to mostly black like you're planning it'll be fine. I'd skip wrist cuffs with this coord though, no matter the color. And if it's a skirt consider a cutsew/cardigan combination, maybe?

Any ideas on how I could wear this casually or maybe otome-ish? (I know there's the whole salopette =/≠ lolita debate but even if I wanted to do something lolita with it, it doesn't really fit a petticoat) I was thinking of just something simple like a white/cream or brown blouse, a beret or headbow, and a biscuit/food shaped purse or some kind of pink or brown bag. Also a cardigan. Unsure about legwear and shoes.

dark brown for the cardigan/shoes/beret, matching it to the chocolate sweets on the salopette. i'd choose solid or lace tights probably, nothing too busy since the print itself has a lot going on, probably white or cream. do a beret brown and pin a pink bow onto it, or maybe use that donut clip on the strap if that's detachable, to bring it together. Anyways, I know a couple people already said navy so I have that, but also added in the royal blue because I wasn't sure if maybe that fit with the brightness of the dress better or if that just made things worse. This is the first time I am stuck with an outfit, so I hope I can get here some help.

I'm planning my easter outfit, which should be soft sweet, otome-like with a classic hint. Is this possible?

The only thing I'm stuck with are legwear. I thought about green tights but wouldn't this look too plain?
I have black and white shoes but I think black shoes would look better with it, any suggestions?

Shorts in ouji generally are knee length a lot of the time, and then you pair them with boots that are knee length to match. For shoes you should be looking for something that is more streamlined, so dress shoes are okayish but not the best because you do want something more military like.

tbh with this dress you're probably going to want to look for a custom-made headdress and/or blouse since this shade of purple is reaally hard to find in lolita. I'd suggest either brassy golds or muted blue-purples even though the floral broach is more of a mauve/eggplant shade.
This dress is a great opportunity to get creative with themes, though, you can either go goth with some batty-type accessories to reference Maleficent's dragon form (and this is one dress where I would say those costumey horn headdresses should not be entirely off-limits) or play up the 'sleeping beauty' references with a ton of rose broaches/shoeclips/tights/hairclips. etc.

I own the I.W check dress in the picture and was having the same issue as you a few months ago.

Leg wear is the hardest part, I ended up looking for socks that had a diagonal pattern. Didn't matter what the pattern was made from (lace, flowers, cutlery etc) it just needed to be diagonal and contain brown.

So I do when I do an easy outfit with brown/white base and adding the pink in, it goes
Headwear: Pink w/ small brown bow pinned on
Outwear: Pink (make sure the cardigan is a good fit)
Legwear: White with brown and pink detailing
Shoes & Bag in matching tones

Hope this helps you out

This time I want to go OTT with my coord, so I need some help. Will gold jewelry be enough to balance out the gold shoes/socks? Maybe a lot of pearls? Would a big headbow work better or a flower headdress?

The exception to the "do not mix whites" rule is the ivory x white coord. Treat the ivory as cream yellow, and be super duper careful. Because the two shades are so close together, everything that's supposed to be white need to be exact shades of white, and everything that should be ivory needs to be the exact shade of ivory.

Okay, here's an attempt I made! It'll be my first coord so let me know what you think. Is the dress/coord too OTT for regular meets? There are small flowers lining the dress alongside the gold so decided to try and use it as a theme with the tights and headdress to keep it cohesive.

>> No.8186796

>>8186731

The tights will definitely cause a problem, because if you wear them over white tights your white tights will be tinted skin tone, they'll no longer be the right white. If you wear them without white tights, your legs will look bare, just with gold sparkles. Better if you go with white OTKs or white lace socks, or you can try painting gold fabric paint over white legwear (make sure the legwear is white and matches your other white items perfectly. If going with tights, choose a higher denier so it's still white and not some offwhite by the time you pull it on).

Your other problem is colour balance. At the moment your only ivory is the jsk, which makes it look like you slapped an ivory dress onto a shiro outfit by mistake. You've got to find a few more matching ivory items in order for it to look intentional. I'd definitely suggest adding at least something ivory in the headdress. A lot of brands make ivory hairpieces and ivory handbags, the definition of the colour is pretty narrow so there's not a lot of variation between ivory colourways from different brands, so it should be fairly easy to pick up matching ivory accessories. Alternatively, if you don't want to do that and can't find roses and ribbons in ivory, you can try going into a fabric store and looking for a fabric that is a close match, then make ribbons and roses out of that, and add it to a white lace base and gold charms.

One other thing I forgot to mention -- white fabric tends to come either warm-toned or cool-toned (bluish). The bluish ones will look like crap next to ivory, so avoid those. Most lolita blouses, even the white ones, don't come in bluish whites, so you should be fairly safe.

I don't think it's too OTT for a normal meetup, though you might want to check where you're going and what you're doing. It's certainly not something I'd wear to a picnic or an alpaca farm, but a sit-down tea should be okay.

>> No.8186808

*should clarify that I mean lolita brands make ivory items in more or less the same similar shades. All bets are off if you're buying offbrand ivory items.

Is that dress navy? If so, why the hell is everything else black?
Those shoes and socks will not match. The golds are waaaay off, and imo heels like that (no ankle cuff, and with a pointy toe) just look ridiculous with socks. Pearls aren't going to help bring gold colors up. They certainly can match gold if they have a yellowish tint rather than a bleach-white blue tint, but that isn't going to make them appear gold.

Honestly if I were you I'd start from the bottom and actually try to match the dress with your coord. I see navy, white, gold, and lavender.

I was nervous that ivory items from different brands might not match, so thats really nice to know. Thank you so much!

I think I'm still gonna get them just because they're cute, I'll try it out and se how it looks, at least.

I ordered this dress a couple of days ago, so I tried putting together some coords, what do you think?
The left one still needs shoes, bag and a different headdress that's possible to buy. I'm new to this so I would really appreciate some advice.

Yes, gold shoes would look pretty good as well. You can also go for a gold bag if you prefer that, so long as you ivory somewhere else (eg in your headdress) it should be okay.

While I've not wanted to admit this, i'm stuck. I'm currently putting together my first coord and I am struggling a bit with the blouse. I can't find any that I think will look well with this mint jsk. I just don't want to look ita and waste money on a blouse that will look wrong with the dress. I know it must be white, and I would prefer it to not be long sleeved. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

I am stuck on a head piece for this dress since I was unable to get the matching headbow and the shade of lavender is difficult to match. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hmm, I looked at their page but it seems as though they're only selling them in one size. Also the shade is a bit darker than I'd like.

Still, anyone know of any specific shops that sell lolita/loliable shoes in a bright royal blue shade? I'm wondering if I should just buy a style of shoes I like and paint them the color I want since I know that's a bit of an odd color for lolita shoes to come in.

Alright just kidding literally right after I made this post I found a pair of liz lisa shoe knockoffs that come in what I think will be a suitable shade of blue.

>>8190376
Hmm, I don't have any good ideas besides a gold head piece, stalking the secondhand market for the bow, or even commissioning someone to create something in a matching shade of purple. You might also have luck finding something in a shade similar to the blouse?

Do you live near any craft stores? If you can find just a ribbon and/or a couple of small lavender things, you could do a navy headdress and add on the lavender accents.

Can you lovely anons help me figure out what to do with the top of this outfit? I've considered a black corset and chiffon overdress but I'm unsure. It feels too busy on the bottom to be that simple up top. The inspiration picture on the right has the sort of jester hat that I would love to incorporate, but I'll need to think up a very good design that isn't tacky. I want something harlequin/jester inspired, erring a little on ero or OTT.

-This is a fashion show outfit, so I wanted it to be a little out there.
-Everything set aside the shoes is going to be handmade. I'm already working on the stockings , they're topped with a soft tulle ruffle and cameos.
-The cage skirt may or may not end up being more ruffley as well.
-The shoes are a maybe. They're here because I already own them, but if the right style of shoe is shown to me, I won't hesitate to change them.

Have you considered darker or longer/ more elaborate bloomers? Those ones are really basic so they just look like undies or pjs.

>> No.8190975

>>8190727
If you are goign to make the bloomers,I would go to the point of modelign it after the Ap bloomers that had garters or something more elaborate than just small white ones. It also may be better to do it in black.

A corset would be good for this ero look but remember that corsets dont usually end at the waist but the hips, so with the cage starting at the waist it is either going to be soemthing you push to the hips or you put ontop and cuts the corset look in half. I would suggest Louise Black for her Cameo corsets (she made the skeleton cameo popular but has others) but she also is taking them out at the end of march.

I really like the tops shown here! Perhaps I might do something with a higher neckline, because I'm considering doing a neck ruff similar to the one in my inspiration picture now. Thank you! I also like the shape of those cages better. The Atelier Pierrot one in my collage has too skinny straps and not enough of them.

>>8190950
>>8190975
Yes, I forgot to mention that! I definitely want to do slightly longer bloomers with wide lace ruffles at the bottom. I may make them in both black and white to try them on and see which ones I like better. I wanted the contrast of the white but perhaps it will stand out too much?

Also, for the corset I may try a more Elizabethan style stay that ends at the waist. The other outfits for this particular show are Renaissance and Elizabethan inspired, so I think if I switch out a shoe more of that style, use a stay, and add the neck ruff it might fit in the theme better? I'm thinking something like pic related, debating on those hip flaps, though. I think they'll add to the Elizabethan feel but I'm not sure how they'll sit over the cage skirt.

Pants, blouse and flower are amazing, source?
Overall I don't know why the other poster told you to lurk more, it looks nice. I'm not too fond of the shoes though and would go with something less modern. And with the tights I think they might look too pale/desaturated when worn. Oh yeah and add a hat maybe.

The overdress I had in mind was something styled similar to this, where it's open in the front. I'd like the one I make to have a thinner waistband and a single sided ruffle along the bottom rather than a double. I almost want to do it in a black and white stripe chiffon to amp up the harlequin pattern mixing.

A jesters hat might be too much I think anon. Maybe you could bring a caged bird theme in? Put a cutout silhouette in the skirt and do a feathery head dress.

bluexwhite legwear would balance more. not these exactly (these dont match thematically) but something like it.

and for headwear:
-blue velvet bow
-string of pearls
-tiny lavender rhinestones

>> No.8193234

>>8190376
Don't go with the plain blue tights, go with textured off-white/pearl details on off-white. Pearl and gold hair chain for headwear. I've heard the dark blue is kinda an odd purply colour so I would stick to off white and gold as coord colours overall and get an off white chiffon blouse.

>>8190911
I would go for:
-beige blouse
-wine red cardigan + beret, with a cake themed brooch attached either to the cardigan or beret
-tan boots/shoes and satchel bag
-thick beige knit tights or patterned ones (Traumerei has such cute food themed ones, but then you'd have to go with lighter colours like pink, sax, or mint)
