I don't own many dresses but one of them has shirring in the back and the odd thing is it doesn't help at all. Like I'm sure it gives a little extra room but the jsk is tight on my bust and I can not imagine how it would be any other way considering the shirring is in the back and I don't have humps there. But people talk about shirring all the time as if it will stretch to the max to make you fit.

>> No.8224531

>>8224521
It'll stretch to the max, but it won't be comfortable unless the elastics have been completely worn out. I own a couple partially-shirred skirts where I'm only a couple centimeters shy of the max measurement and they always dig in uncomfortably unless I'm wearing a corset underneath.

Exactly! I own and have owned some of AP's fully back shirred dresses. If it had been any of the others I might have understood but the shirring on Cameo Window barely stretches. I've owned one fully back shirred AP dress that fit me pretty well and I sold it to a girl whose measurements were much bigger. It would have fit her with size she gave me but when I saw it on her she definitely lied. It looked so painful!
I think there has to be a point where people have to look at themselves and realise it doesn't fit.

why did these itas get picked to be the face of the new general thread?
girl on left needs a different blouse, this one looks like a men's work shirt. preferably change out the necklace, too, the single strand of pearls looks grandma-ish. the blues in her headdress don't match the royal blue in the print, which is inexcusable if the color scheme of your outfit is that simple, and her bag looks way too normalfag...
Mary-janes are not suitable for an aristocrat coord, and she could have at least picked interesting socks if she had no other shoes to fall back on.
girl on right looks like she's just barely squeezing into Iron Gate. Plus, even if those shoes are genuine JC, they're tacky as shit when worn with this coordinate. Headdress should be swapped for something with white accents and the hole-y tights need to go.
Some rings or a contrasting wig would have been nice touches, but clearly these girls are only wearing the print for brand whore prestige instead of because it goes with the outfit.
I'm not even into Mana's stuff usually, but these coordinates fill me with strong feelings of contempt.

I don't care about Iron Gate, the only reason it's popular is because it's rare.
The one on the right makes it look like low-quality mallgoth attire, though.
Moitie's lolita is supposed to be elegant and darkly cute.
Those tryhard spiked boots, ripped stockings and cheap headdress do not qualify.
Her choker looks like ebay-tier 'lolita' jewelry, too.
Plus, you can tell from her oddly squished waistline and the tight sleeve fit on her bolero that she is squeezing herself into these clothes, probably using corseting. Shapewear would've been a better choice. They're both pretty fucking ita, which is tragic considering how much money they probably spent to acquire those prints.

>> No.8229203

the one on the right is pretty homely, too. those bangs in particular look good on a small face, but on her they only emphasize the length of her jawline/chin.
Her accessories might work in a punk coordinate, but here they look out-of-place. If you're going to wear a huge OTT cross pendant, the rest of your accessories should also be OTT. Chunky shoes (sans spikes) would work, or an oldschool headdress with contrasting detailing. Equally, lacy gloves or a fistful of rings would have made the outfit look more cohesive.

I think the OTKs are fine, but picking ones with a simple pattern such as slender vertical stripes would have looked nicer since the lace trim is getting kind of lost from a distance.

it's infrequent to see one sold second-hand, if it is then it's usually for around or over $1000usd. If it wasn't an 'iconic print' that appreciated in value, then it would probably be seen even less, but people know how much they can get from it.
Idk what kind of brand whores you're hanging out with if you think that iron gate doesn't qualify as rare. it's certainly not sought-after because of the design, and people aren't going to blow that kind of cash on a dress just because they appreciate the history.
it's sought-after because it's not common...girls just want to elevate the status of their wardrobe/reputation as a collector, if you just liked the print there are plenty of similar options on the market.
maybe there were a lot of them made (and didn't moitie release like...a flocky version a couple years back?) but they're not in circulation, at least not at the prices any sane person would pay.

Different anon, but Iron Gate is really not as rare as the price implies. That's not the main reasons it's so expensive. There are older, much harder to find Moitie prints that aren't as much. Gothic Arch, for example, predates IG by a year and is significantly harder to come by, but it costs hundreds less. I searched for that print for years and posted many WTBs before I finally came across a seller. With IG, it took me one WTB and I got four different people offering me theirs. It's harder if you're only open to one exact version and colorway, but if you're flexible you'll find someone willing to sell you one no problem.

>it's certainly not sought-after because of the design, and people aren't going to blow that kind of cash on a dress just because they appreciate the history.
Incorrect. The design and history are the primary appeal of IG. I know it's hard for some lolitas these days to contemplate how people could be so obsessed with a print that's nowhere near as detailed and busy as the shit we see now of days, but there's this simple elegance to IG and the old Moitie pieces of that style that makes them very sought after. Also, given how much people spend far far more on historical memorabilia and collectibles, I don't see why you're having a hard time believing anyone would buy it out of historical appreciation. It's price pales compared to the most sought after items in many other hobbies.

>and didn't moitie release like...a flocky version a couple years back?
You're thinking Royal Gate, which was a different print, but very similar.

Assuming I'm someone who had replied before.
I just find it ironic that people who roast others for their fatty cutoff point often have one of their own that is equally dismissive, just fatter. Your post ^ will look just as shitty and exclusionary to someone above your own 'acceptable' weight as you are saying ours look to you.
You maxed at 240 so you set anyone 250 plus as 'need to lose' so that's the same thing as the rest of us who weigh less looking at someone 200+ and thinking the same thing.
If you know you look good and others say you look good, why you argue so hard here? Most would not if that were truly the case.

Everyone who is a regular on cgl knows that whenever someone posts a picture to "prove a point" it backfires into a shitstorm.
At least with this argument it ends when the thread dies. If they were to post a pic of their identity it's likely you'd carry your vendetta for them well past the lifetime of this thread.

When I'm 110, sorry, 180 looks a lot like 200. The difference is relative. A little less fat isn't that big a deal or difference if you aren't a fatty watching out for it. Describing someone as 'yeah, 180-200, something like that' is not that unusual. Too fat.

>I called attention to it because fat Anon gets mad when we say generally that fatties don't look good in lolita because it looks stuffed more often than not, yet considers herself the exception to that with very weak evidence.

And that matters to you because...?

The level of which you don't know what the fuck you're talking about is very impressive. It's Biology 101 that people's metabolism varies widely and some are luckier than others. Google it FFS.

You'd notice a difference in your body if you woke up the next morning weighing 130. You'd probably had gained at least two pant sizes.

So you don't pick on fatties who claim to have slow metabolisms or medications that make them fat? Right?

They're greasy and delusional, and don't notice the smell anymore. I've never seen one of these "healthy hair" people who didn't have a grease helmet going.

Calling same gag because someone disagrees with you? Really?

I'm sorry, but saying 200 instead of 180 isn't that ridiculous. If you need to convince yourself only one person could possibly think that way, whatever.

Equating 'living' to eating garbage gourmet pizzas. That's what we call them here, those pizzas with lots of crap on them. And they are still full of fat, salt and carbs. Yuk. I eat a slice of a really good pizza occasionally but truthfully, I like better food than that.

It is ridiculous. I'm embarrassed that you think this way.

Then don't eat it? Nobody eats pizza because they're feeling healthy. Just go eat a slice of tomato and some cheese.

The difference is much more noticeable when the number is smaller like that, though. With skinny bitches, you notice if they gain 5 pounds. Fatties have to gain/lose a lot before it's visible.

You can slowly train your head to produce less surface oil, if someone is washing every day,and the rest of their body skin is not super-oily, they usually have their scalp over-producing oils. I'm not one for the no wash or be greasy thing at all but unless you are an oily skinned person or use a ton of hair products, washing every 3-4 days is good balance.
I have dry, fine hair. Fresh washed day my hair is fluffy, won't hold a curl, so I leave it long, straight and brushed (elbow length with a fringe). Second day, I do some styling with light product, third day, any style that requires more body to hold the style, 4th day updo depending on if it still looks good in day 3 style. 5th day, updo or updo with hat if I haven't washed it by then. But mine rarely gets 'greasy at all, just product build-up.
I used to wash it every day and my ends were frizzy and my scalp did get oily.

I'm more embarrassed by the fact you don't see why that's not a huge enough difference to get butthurt over.

False. The variation in individual metabolisms is actually very small. YOU Google that shit.

Who's getting butthurt? It's sad that you don't think 20 pounds is a difference. It would be funny if you lost that amount of weight, saw difference in your body, and some asshole came along and was like ~keknbd~

Can't tell if trolling or just painfully wrong. It's just a straight up fact that there are people who can eat whatever they want without weight gain. How have you never heard about this before?

But they were 240 and now they are 180.
I think 60 pounds is more weight lost than 40. I think someone who recently lost 60 pounds probably notices details more vividly than someone who lost some fat in high school.

But there was never any discussion about the difference between 240 and 180, they're talking about the difference between 180 and 200. The fact she went from 240 to 180 isn't really relevant.

>> No.8235687

>>8235418
It's relevant in the sense that she likely exercised to get down to that weight and hence a 20 pound difference via exercising and reducing bodyfat percentage probably yields more noticeable results than people who just do a calorie deficit.

There's no reason to be shitty to someone for losing 20 pounds, which is good work either way, just because you don't like what they said on 4chan. You're wrong.
