The rest of the time people just randomly asked to meet in the Hyatt (which is annoying to get to) when they felt bored last minute (an also usually late)

Not placing blame, I guess thats what happens when no one is qualified to officially come up with meeting times and places.

Speaking of staff, only 1 guy complained about my gun. Tells me I need to remove the magazine. I cant recall that ever being in the rules. Put it back in and no one says anything ever again. Everything else about the gun is completely disabled. Trigger disabled, not loaded, broken, and completely unusable.

Highlights: seeing AMV Hell 7 for the first time, learning I like Free!, going to Anime Hell for th first time in a decade and realizing how much I missed it, running Hentarmageddon, seeing the people in this pic, meeting seagulls

Lowlights: one panelist having a nasty breakup immediately prior to panel; me taking a Sidecar home after panel instead of having the motel room I ordered, no chance to play BattleTech

All in all, 8/10 con, even the fire alarm couldn't ruin it for me.

Since I need feedback, for anyone who saw my Billy Kane either Friday or Saturday, was it decent? Anything I should work on/change? Getting in better shape is obvious, but other than that?

Also, if no one shows up to organize the Fighting Game Face-off shoot next year, I'm just going to take charge. Probably the only shoot I've ever been to that had zero organization, and only maybe a quarter to a third of the people who cosplayed fighters actually showed up for the shoot. Those of you in here who did turn up, you were awesome.

On the one hand, this ACen was the first in a long time where I could not drink. Most of my friends are long-gone, having moved to other cities and other fandoms. I was alone for the bulk of Friday and Saturday.

On the other hand, I watched more new shows, attended more panels, and had a better "pure" con experience than I have in years, because for once I wasn't sitting in the lobby, drunk off my ass, playing CaH.

Getting peaceably stoned and wandering around the con by myself was one of the best con experiences I've had in years. Though I do regret missing /cgl/ meetups.

I was the one complaining about the towels above. Apparently shit got worse for us at the embassy. I was really disappointed. Our room could not keep a comfortable temperature at all. The thermostat was almost falling off the wall and a bunch of the outlets didn't work at all. My friend who booked the room asked the embassy to charge one of the nights to her debit card and the rest to her credit card. She repeated herself several times at the front desk to make sure they had it right. They charged her 3 nights to her debit and 1 night to credit card. She was lucky she had enough cash in her account. Then apparently the hotel had given her a card to use for parking and i think it was some prepaid card with money already on it from the hotel. I'm not really sure since i just fucking park in the damn ramp wherever and i didnt ride with her. She said she tried using the card upon leaving and the attendants at the ramp told her that she couldn't use those cards. The hotel should not have been letting people use those cards according to the attendants. We ended up not getting our towels. Period. They told my friend that they send the towels out to get washed. I want to call BS on that but i honestly would not be super shocked if that was a thing considering how many towels they probably needed to do. You think you'd be fucking stocked enough since these places hold so many people for these events. I'm genuinely disappointed in the embassy. I had always heard nothing but excellent things. I'm not sure if it was just this year or what the fuck happened.

I dont typically room with them, and they're nice people, i just held the embassy to way too high of a standard apparently. Everyone kept touting it as best hotel and to have all that happen was just frustrating. The friend of that group who usually books the rooms said "Fuck it, we're not coming back here now" and is planning on booking a hyatt room. The friend i've gone with the last two years couldn't make it this year nor could her bf who booked the room last year. It's also very hard for her to get off of her job on thursdays. I've never been to Acen, but I'm thinking about going with my boyfriend next year for my 21st birthday. He's not into anime but is into video games and some geek culture (really loves Achievement Hunter, Rooster Teeth, all that shit)

Is Acen worth it/would be a good experience for us? Or has it gone downhill? I've only been to a lowly semi shitcon (Anime Iowa) a few years so I'm not sure what to expect. Not sure if I'd cosplay or not.

Dino is an easily purchasable costume that has a lot of items the boys already have in their closet. Other Dantes actually require a lot of effort.

I did see one fab looking Dante2 while I was rushing. I really liked his detailing. Beautifully done.
