Let's see some cool Disneybounds. Preferably worn, unlike the pic I'm posting. I feel like a lot of gulls would be into this sort of thing.

Sorry if this isn't allowed here.

No costumes at all, mostly because little children don't really get the concept of "works at disney" vs "visitor".

I say go for it! In my experience workers love to see things that are from disney but relatively not mainstream - one year I was Mozenrath and got a lot of compliments (Aladdin even asked me if i had come to try to steal de genie!)

Yep, no costumes at all on normal days. You should totally go to MNSSHP as that though. People really go all out for any event in which costumes are allowed. The other time you can wear a costume is during the 24 hour event, which happens every year.

I had an idea it was because of the children, i can kinda see someone getting overwhelmed with 20 Cinderellas and wondering where the real/face character is.

Also thanks! If i ever go i would totally plan it around the Halloween event, i've always wanted to go to Halloween at Disney in a KH costume, kind of a secret dream of mine.

Also Mozenrath is very attractive, good taste.

I always hear that dressing up as a character forces the park to have you change into something else because some kid can legitimately think you are that you work there and shit can occur. (save for disney Halloween then you can dress up as any character). I've also heard of lolitas being told to look more casual. But whenever I go there, there are people dressed up like a performer, Alice, or Tink. I guess it just depends if a supervisor catches you.

link of girl who was forced to change: http://www.inquisitr.com/249569/tinkerbell-in-tears-disney-world-forces-teen-to-change-out-of-costume/

I think there was also a lolita to emailed back and forth of what lolitas can and cannot wear to disney. I think the lolita was Parfait Doll? Not sure. I'll try looking up her blog post.

While I used to like Disneybounding, now it's cancer. It's literally become wearing half a cosplay and a character wig and acting like it's cool. I honestly think that if you wear any costume piece other than a small accessory (necklace, hair bow, hair clips etc.) it's super tacky.

No, they're not. The owner of Disneybound has even said that the name came about because of a friend and her saying they were "disney bound" when going to the parks, and she liked the name, not because the outfits are intended to be worn at Disney Parks.

From their page:

>Using items you can find in your own closet or local mall, create outfits (not costumes), which represent your favorite character!

That's all. I mean, otherwise... you think that this (and every other "short dress, high heels" outfit) is designed to be worn at the parks?

Not to mention that the concept of wearing outfits inspired by characters (Disney characters or not) existed long before the Disneybound blog.

Thats what I said. This doesn't even look like the rose though. Not even slightly. Wearing this people will think you just have no taste and if you say you are dressed as Beast's rose they will probably be like, "Um.... Sure. Of course you are."

The rose is red. Not this ugly pink mess that whoever put this together is trying to make it out to be. Also the green is off because it is not that bright. No colors match for anything regarding it. The chances of anyone even slightly knowing what the hell you are is so laughable and far off.

I'm confused. The concept behind Disneybound is being inspired by Disney characters/movies/songs/whateverDisney to create outfits/outfit sets. The concept is not "create a Disney outfit inspired by (Disney whatever) and people must recognize this outfit otherwise your outfit is a failure!" Check out even the "official" disneybound sets. If someone wasn't specifically telling you what they were, you wouldn't have any clue what most of them were trying to be. "Uhh a blue top, blue shorts, some sparkly eyeshadow and a star necklace is Cinderella's fairy godmother? Sure, honey..."

While some people do try to translate character's costumes into more literal outfits that are more like closet cosplay than anything else, many of them are something that no one who didn't know that a, you were Disneybounding and b, what you were Disneybounding would probably guess.

Also, the rose has a pink cast in the film.

It didn't, though?

Look at this outfit Disneybound posted all the way back in 2011. It's not an attempt to make park-friendly cosplay, it's an inspired outfit. There's also a number of messages she answered in the early days where people made nitpicks (like "but ____'s outfit doesn't have ____!!!") and she pointed out that they were just meant to be inspired, not literal.

The person that runs the Disneybound Tumblr jumped onto an existing trend of people creating polyvore sets inspired by characters/movies/songs/books and after creating a few of her own, decided to rebrand her blog and dedicated it solely to the concept of the "Disney" (and sometimes other) outfits.

>This was happening way before 2011

I know. I even specifically said that it was an existing trend.

Disneybound specifically refers to the concept (Disney inspired outfits, whether as a polyvore-style set or actually wearing them) as popularized by the Disneybound blog. The concept was not created by the blog, but the blog is what made it took off--hence why any of these fandom inspired outfits tend to be referred to as "disneybound" now. Although it was not really until the blog took off that more people began actively taking photos of their outfits and wearing them to the parks in any significant number.

>and before Tumblr and did start as a slight cosplay to bypass the 10 and under rule.

It didn't start as slight cosplay to bypass the 10 and under rule, though, is what I'm saying. The trend of making outfits inspired by media started as just that: fashion sets inspired by media. We even had threads on /cgl/ about them, and a /cgl/ polyvore group dedicated to fandom-inspired outfits, pic related.

Were there people who made them to bypass the rule, or made them as slight cosplays (whether they were going to the parks or not)? Sure. But it didn't "start" that way, nor is the concept, pre-Disneybound or otherwise, rooted in bypassing park rules about costumes.
