Anyone going? It's in a few weeks!

>> No.8355161

I live 15 minutes away, is the con worth the cost of the badge? Also is it one of those cons where there'll be shit to do even if you don't have a badge?

I'd like to know this as well, it's a short train ride away for me, and I'm trying to be more social at cons. Is Anime Next worth it?

>> No.8358466

i want to go but cant get a hotel yet.
and which hotel would be the best to stay at anyways?

Not sure what the price of the con is now, but I got my badge for $35 the week after the con last year. There is a lot of outdoor space, and the con for me is really just a chill out con. The vibe is way relaxed and people are pretty social. I'd say it would be worth it without a badge as long as the weather is good. If it's raining you can only really hang out in the doubletree lobby.

Also, if you're interested in the guests I'd say it is worth it.

In the past I've stayed at the Sonesta ES and the Holiday Inn.

Sonesta - cheaper but a bit of a walk. Also free breakfast.
Holiday Inn - gaming rooms are in the hotel, but crossing the street at night can get hairy and breakfast isn't free.
Haven't stayed at the Hotel Somerset-Bridgewater, but I know there are panels inside it as well. I've also had friends who stayed at the Courtyard Marriott and they said it was nice. Basically there are a ton of options right in the area.

I'll be staying in the Doubletree this year and I'm pretty stoked about it.

Chill con. Always full schedule. Nice outdoor areas to cosplay. I always have fun.

Main dislike: If it rains outdoor areas are f'd especially when lines are outdoors.

I'll be going all 3 days with a small group of friends. No hotel, but since we only live about 30 minutes away, it's not that big a deal to drive. Looking forward to it, not dressing up as anything too difficult, but I'm hoping it'll be good for my first cosplay.

To confirm again, arcade room is at Holiday Inn and not at the Doubletree?

>> No.8361902

>>8361312
Correct. The gaming rooms have been in the Holiday Inn at least the past couple years.

I used to stay in so eats cause it was the best bang for your buck but since it changed hands I just had repetitive horrible experiences with the staff there. I now stay in the doubletree which is really now essentially the same price anyways. It's worth going if you live close. I live in south-central nj so I always go.

I meant sonesta suites thanks autocorrect

Yeah I'll be there. It's always great getting a room right in the Doubletree, fuck walking from the Holiday Inn.

thanks.
i ended up getting a room at the doubletree again also.

>> No.8363515

anyone have a list of photogs attending this year?

>> No.8363552

>>8363515
There's a load on the Facebook page. No one compiled a list, but I've seen at least 5-8 of them post there.

>> No.8363676

>>8355161
Yes. I'd just get one at the door, because last year the line was actually much shorter than pre-reg, and I can pretty much guarantee that they won't cap the entrants.

Is this convention worth 60 bucks? Be honest

I went last year, it's okay at best. I was with a bunch of friends but I stayed more in the hotel than anything. The rave was meh but the music was nice. As for panels I'm not sure because I wasn't able to go to any but overall the place itself is really nice and cool to hang out at.

For 60 dollars though? I don't know

>> No.8368632

>>8367156
No.

1. New Jersey location, New Jersey people
2. There's really no draw that makes it worth that much, even in the surrounding area
3. The con itself is just okay. The people I know that attend only do so to chill with friends they don't get to see often.

Its more of a hangout con, not worth that high of a badge fee.

Decent panels, decent guests.

Great location imo. It's in Somerset and takes place part in the Double Tree hotel, part in the Garden State Exhibition Center. There's also the Days Inn, but that only has a rather small video game room and some hotel down the street that they recently acquired. A lot of people go to it, surprise surprise it's not just NJ residents.

It's a nice hangout con too, plus there's a bar in the middle of it if that's your thing. If you have people you want to see or friends to go with to enjoy the weekend, I say do it.

Also >>8368632
>high of a badge fee

Otakon's $95 might break bank for you then.

>Paying for badges

You'd be surprised how much mileage you get out of old badges and walking in with crowds.

But as for the con itself, not worth 60 dollery-doos at all, but theres a lot of non-gated areas you can hangout in. I'm 15mins away and plan to drop by

>> No.8372583

Weather looks shitastic over the con weekend. Rain, rain, and more rain.

In other news, is there a lolita comm in this area? Any at all???

>> No.8372641

>>8368607
And that's why I buy my pass early for like $40. idk I go every year and I enjoy the shit out of it. But I also have a lot of friends that go sooooo yeah if you don't know anyone, don't bother.

>>8372583
There is an NJ comm but I can't tell you much about it. I've never gone to a meet up. They do usually attend ANext tho
