There was a girl who made a post in HLC about being contacted. It wouldn't surprise me if MTV is getting in touch with others, so probably true.

I've actually got a friend who does the pitching for true life and this is definitely in the works. She asked if I wanted to be in it and I declined even though I trust her and I feel like I could portray the fashion well shit just always gets misconstrued

A lot of cosplayers have been receiving messages too about it.

I can't post any proof, but yeah, I know a lolita who was contacted as well (not from texas).

This is where I first heard about it. Also the person contacting you is likely going to milk you for information and ask you to contact others for even more info. I was contacted by another company and they were looking for kandi kids. They were saying they wanted to interview me and I had a good chance to be on the show, but they kept asking questions that didn't even pertain to raving or kandi. They also wanted me to reach out to others in the scene and I did post about it on FB. I then realized they were using me for who I knew and I'm not about to do their damn job for them so they can pervert another niche community.

I don't have the source (i read about this ages ago) but, I read an article about a family that had been on a reality tv show for TLC and the execs would continuously try to cause 'drama' between the family by making up shit and trying to get them to fight. The family was pretty chill with each other though and definitely knew the game these people were trying to play with them and stayed cool the whole time during the filming. The episode never aired because it wasn't "interesting enough" aka they had no real way to edit it to make it into what they wanted.

Obviously you aren't an actor or know any, as that rate is just barely above what an extra gets paid. Actors with even a single speaking part, such as a single word, gets paid better than that rate, especially as a SAG=AFTRA member, and the production studio is going to get paid even more by MTV itself, as well as each additional Emmy Award they can bring in for MTV can help future seasons increase the base rate per episode.

BTW my experience comes from having worked reality show casting calls in the past and we've managed to pay people rates of $100 to eat worms and put themselves through obstacle courses, like running up a hill while we shot fire hoses at them. Sometimes, cash isn't even paid, just items worth the cash value (excluding taxes), which we received cheaply from sponsors. (varies by show and productions).

Production Companies also often fold and rebrand, as a way to avoid Unions, so they can also maintain the same cheap pay for not just contestants/cast, but also low-level production staff (like PA's).

My old roommate was a normie ghetto black girl and she loved reality tv, but she would also pick and choose what to watch. Like for some reason, Bad Girls Club was her fucking show, and she did not miss an episode but she felt like the Kardashians were too mainstream? And she would rarely watch them and any time I caught her watching it, she'd be like, "I don't know why I'm watching this I'm sorry" And then she'd do some channel flipping and nothing better was on.

She had pretty good self esteem, as most black ghetto girls do. When she gained weight she started working out and lost it all pretty fast. She was extremely disciplined.

In all honesty, I feel like she just really liked that kind of tv and after watching some of it with her, it was kind of like the new version of what soap operas used to be for women. Those went out of style and now we've got bad reality tv everywhere but it just has more genres than soap operas do.

My source is Joe Rogans podcast. He's worked in reality TV before and knows many other people who have worked for various reality shows, including ones that do casting calls for normies.

Also ads on Craigslist in my area offers 300-400 a day for porn and I've seen 50 a day for random casting calls to be an extra or what have you.
