There was a girl who made a post in HLC about being contacted. It wouldn't surprise me if MTV is getting in touch with others, so probably true.

I've actually got a friend who does the pitching for true life and this is definitely in the works. She asked if I wanted to be in it and I declined even though I trust her and I feel like I could portray the fashion well shit just always gets misconstrued

This is where I first heard about it. Also the person contacting you is likely going to milk you for information and ask you to contact others for even more info. I was contacted by another company and they were looking for kandi kids. They were saying they wanted to interview me and I had a good chance to be on the show, but they kept asking questions that didn't even pertain to raving or kandi. They also wanted me to reach out to others in the scene and I did post about it on FB. I then realized they were using me for who I knew and I'm not about to do their damn job for them so they can pervert another niche community.

Actors with even a single speaking part, such as a single word, gets paid better than that rate, especially as a SAG=AFTRA member, and the production studio is going to get paid even more by MTV itself, as well as each additional Emmy Award they can bring in for MTV can help future seasons increase the base rate per episode.

>Stacy London is back on TLC helping women see the errors of their fashion choices. "Love, Lust or Run" is almost identical in construction to her former "What Not to Wear" series except that instead of subjects undergoing style makeovers, they receive what TLC calls "makeunders." Each episode begins with strangers rating a woman's style by choosing either "love," "lust" or "run." Next, the woman strips off her hair extensions, wild clothes, and garish makeup in order to start with a blank slate. Stacy then guides her through a "makeunder," which dramatically changes her look and allows her to channel what she really wants the public to see

BTW my experience comes from having worked reality show casting calls in the past and we've managed to pay people rates of $100 to eat worms and put themselves through obstacle courses, like running up a hill while we shot fire hoses at them. Sometimes, cash isn't even paid, just items worth the cash value (excluding taxes), which we received cheaply from sponsors. (varies by show and productions).

Production Companies also often fold and rebrand, as a way to avoid Unions, so they can also maintain the same cheap pay for not just contestants/cast, but also low-level production staff (like PA's).

My old roommate was a normie ghetto black girl and she loved reality tv, but she would also pick and choose what to watch. Like for some reason, Bad Girls Club was her fucking show, and she did not miss an episode but she felt like the Kardashians were too mainstream? And she would rarely watch them and any time I caught her watching it, she'd be like, "I don't know why I'm watching this I'm sorry" And then she'd do some channel flipping and nothing better was on.

She had pretty good self esteem, as most black ghetto girls do. When she gained weight she started working out and lost it all pretty fast. She was extremely disciplined.

In all honesty, I feel like she just really liked that kind of tv and after watching some of it with her, it was kind of like the new version of what soap operas used to be for women. Those went out of style and now we've got bad reality tv everywhere but it just has more genres than soap operas do.

And even soap operas can be good. Just look at Twin Peaks.

Can be just agree to ostracize anyone who jumps on one of these ~opportunities~ from the community? This sort of thing is toxic. My comm had a woman who was always looking for new ways to get lolita featured on tv and for years and years, all our drama was based around the megalomaniac shit she pulled. Now that she is no longer as involved in the comm we're practically drama-free and everyone seems a lot happier. You don't want people like that in your community. They're just using you as a stepping stone to get famous and they'll happily trample all over you to get there.

You're getting nowhere near for either because you obv have no idea so just stop posting. Try closer to $800-1000 per porn shoot and almost $0 for volunteering for this show. I still don't get why people think you'd be getting paid to go on this.

When I first read it I thought it was about cosplay...
because of the "anime look".
Took me a while to realize that it was actually about lolita fashion.

I think that's a fine idea, always have. No one needs to 'explain lolita to the public' even if these shitshows ever did get it right. Everyone was so impressed with Milky Fawn, but she did the living doll interview thing for an Aus tabloid-style outfit so...

Lolita is more about private fashion clubs than public outreach and I'm more than fine with it remaining so. Feel the need to educate? Apply at your local con to do a panel or organize a fashion show or fashion walk.

My source is Joe Rogans podcast. He's worked in reality TV before and knows many other people who have worked for various reality shows, including ones that do casting calls for normies.

Also ads on Craigslist in my area offers 300-400 a day for porn and I've seen 50 a day for random casting calls to be an extra or what have you.
there's actually a lot of porn being filmed in Portland as we have a huge fetish community and there are a couple of shows filmed here too, like Grimm and Portlandia.

Oh, you meant local/CL porn things. I didn't realize they paid so low. Northern Hollywood and Miami pays double that for amateur talent. And when I've been contacted to be on a similar show to True Life, they never once mentioned getting paid. They seemed really sketchy though so I wouldn't have done it even for $300.

I'm pretty sure they're sending the same message to both lolitas and cosplayers because they're pretty much the same thing amirite

Ostracize someone from the community? That's a bit far. If someone goes on a mainstream TV show and it portrays the fashion badly, they'll have ostracized themselves. And if by some miracle a show were to portray the fashion accurately (something like Weird Threads, which won't be the case with MTV) then there is no need to ostracize.

Let's not take such an extreme approach to Lolita being in mainstream TV.

Just google Alanah, Australia, Living Doll. Or look it up on her old blog, she wrote about it. It's old news though, March of last year. I guess just an example of even someone 'respected' in the community throwing us under the bus the minute the media calls. Since she quit lolita while still internationally liked and pretty e-famous, I'm not even sure why she did it.

But which would be worse? Actual Lolitas on TV or shit tier ones who mix up the fashion? At least if it didn't go well you could say fuck it you tried.

Not saying I don't understand why you wouldn't. TV show editors are de debil, Bobby.

Looks like The Bill to me, my nan used to watch it and I recognise the guy at the front because she used to go on and on (and on) about how lovely she thought he was.
I don't remember an episode with a Lolita though.
