Yep, that was me. It was so much fun cosplaying Asuka at a West Hollywood gay club! I was sooooooo nervous walking up to the club. I certainly got my share of funny looks, but I got way more compliments than those. Overall, it was definitely the highlight of my AX con weekend. Nope! I didn't use a premade pattern but it's fairly easy to make your own.
I could explain in detail if you'd like?
To summarize though, I basically made a long circle skirt (wanted it to flare out from a bit above my belly button) and did a simple cropped tank type thing for the top. It all fastens with a zipper that goes down the left side up until where the skirt begins to get into it. The material I used isn't stretchy at all so i needed to somehow get my chest to fit lol

the damaged aspect of Asuka is one of my favourite things about her character so i thought it would be fun to play with - it was the first costume i'd made and the second time i'd been to a con so it's pretty rough haha. i think if i did it again i would maybe mess up the uniform a bit and definitely leave the nose ring out, i've since ditched the screw in ball ring.

Latex has a gloss/shine that is very specific, and usually doesn't wrinkle quite like that. Pic, and my next pic related.


They do exist, but their quality is rarely good, because it requires very close measurements. Spandex and lycra tend to stretch and don't have that problem with weight gain/loss.

That's PVC.

Lycra/Spandex doesn't get any wrinkles at all when you're standing up straight, even when covered in vinyl, because of the way it stretches. It also doesn't quite have that high gloss shine PVC/Latex have. Pic related.

Stretched vinyl is a nightmare to work with. Don't try it using until you're comfortable making a regular spandex plugsuit.

Yeah definitely not chiffon. I found the material in the clearance section of my local fabric store. It wasn't listed exactly what kind but I do know that it's 100% cotton and fairly thick so it holds shape really nicely. It has a sort of texture to it but I'm not sure what it is exactly. Any solid, thick fabric would work, I just wouldn't recommend anything very lightweight!

I made it tight fitting at the top and did a double layer of the fabric there so that I wouldn't need to wear a bra. I recommend doing this or wearing a strapless if not.

Their suits are not Andromeda latex. Those are 4-way stretch pvc suits, totally handmade by the cosplayers shown in the videos.

Wig suggestions for Asuka? I'm more of a fan of something darker like arda's pumpkin or light copper red.

Light Copper Red is going to be way too bright for Asuka. If we're going Arda here, the Eowyn in Pumpkin, Warm Light Brown, or Dark Copper Red is going to be your best bet. A lot of people add a pack of wefts into it for added fluff/thickness. My original wig is this in Pumpkin (this >>8451678 is actually a picture of me wearing this wig!) and can look a little too fake for my taste in some lighting. I just bought an Eowyn in Warm Light Brown that has had wefts sewn into it an I much prefer the color.

Maybe this will interest people.. Maybe people already know about the Conomi Eva school uniform outfit, but To Alice is going to be most likely releasing one in the future. Rather than being anime/cosplay accurate, it looks more realistic so something that can be worn as nanchatte seifuku and it wouldn't look really obvious it's from anime. I really like the uniform but find the pale blue a bit costumey so this is perfect for me as it's a subtle reference.
