Had one effed up one this morning
>going out to run some errands

>two guys stopped their car to tell me i am cute
>they were kinda staring a lot at my legs
>still nice to hear anyway eh.
>smile at them and continue my way in the subway

>"err...yes"
>other one giggling "dats a cute pussy bag"

At the end of the day, in the evening during a con I changed into this tartan jsk out with my friends...we ended up being mostly outside of the con (only put the jsk on cause I thought we were going back inside) to get stuff for the hotel room.
I have to admit, tartan + the chunky old school style shoes I was wearing made me look like some kind of weird ageplay hooker but I didn't think it was that big of a deal...on the street these 2 guys walking past gave me a "look". not that big of a deall, but y'know how odd it feels when someone stares at you in a creepy way.

after that we went into a store to get some stuff for the room, when we were leaving this old man came up to me and started looking me up and down exclaiming "wow! you look so great!" then started singing??? then turned to my friend and said "doesn't she look GOOD?"

I dunno, none of this was obviously sexual but it made me uncomfortable enough that I sold the jsk after because I just associated weird vibes with it. I don't know what it is about plaid that makes people act so bizarre because I've heard stories from other girls who've worn plain shit out getting creepier comments than what I experienced. The 2 reactions I had were odd but definitely nothing compared to some other people's stories.

Yeah I guess people really associate tartan/plaid with sexualized school girl shit and it's super creepy. Was it red tartan that you were wearing? this. sure, there are all sorts of sexual fetishes and sexualized things out there but it's just manners to know that it's not appropriate to randomly blurt or ask people about it when it wasn't asked for. asking your coworker about their mode of dress 'for a sex thing' is also really kinda weird. I wouldn't ask my coworker that. That's something I'd go online to like, fetlife for.

in the same way that plenty of gay dudes think athletic wear is hot but they don't just go up to random friends and coworkers asking where to buy gear 'for a sex thing'. that's just an odd thing to bring up.

She didn't yell it to them though, she was complaining about them anonymously on a forum where they will never see these insults aimed at them. They yelled at her on the street.

I'm not saying slurs are ok, but being upset about a person and defaulting to an "easy" insult about them online is hardly enough to make what happened to her ok. Criticize her for using the slurs if you must but her using them here doesn't make her a shitty person who deserves to be publicly humiliated IMO.

They won't read it, but other people will. Using racial slurs doesn't just insult the person they're directed at. They insult every person belonging to that race, whether they've done anything wrong or not.

I got one I guess, it's a story my mom and sister always like to tell me from when I was a little kid or something.

>Sister's friend wins homecoming queen during highschool
>Back in the day when the kids at the school actually had school spirit and town pride and shit, so there was a homecoming parade.
>Chick who won homecoming queen drives by on a float wearing so poofy frill frill dress with the crown and sash, and waves
>Apparently I got super excited to see her
>Sister drags me with her to greet her friends at the school
>I see the homecoming queen
>Ask her if she's the Queen
>"Lol, yes?"
>Blush and tell her she's pretty. And I asked for a hug
>She hugs me and a says something like "I hugged the queen!"
>Apparently I thought she was a legit Disney affiliated Queen/Princess or something.

Uhh... usually the things that are yelled aren't great, anon. Calling someone "little bo peep" is basically saying, "You're dressed differently and because I never matured past playground bullying, as a form of expressing my confusion I'm going to mock you!" It's annoying, to say the least. Then you have the, "hey sweetie"s, the "baby"s, the "aw don't be like that", and after ignoring these, the "fuck you, you slut"s. It's not enjoyable. At all. Especially when these things are hurled at you not from one man in a passing car, but from multiple in a car that's crawling next to you, and you're alone, and you're scared.

Depends on the area. I wear dresses all the time, winter and summer. Had some old people say it's cute and guys seem to like it, but never any negative reactions. Move out of Harlem?

Besides, more normies are wearing cute stuff. Look through Rue 21 sometime. Cheap, shitty clothes, but have to admit some of it is cute. Recent fashions are more lacy, fluffy, and dainty. So it is more accepted.

But yeah, 95% of people just wear jeans or yoga pants. Any negative reactions are just them overflowing with jelly that their girls aren't moe as fuck.

A friend of mine and I got in a fight recently and she decided to start shitting on lolita saying how it was sexual and some form of ageplay even though she knows its not and I've repeatedly told her and explained her the fashion. She told me how we were pandering to the male gaze and some other bullshit, which surprised me because even though she was angry, I could tell she was being sincere and not just saying it to upset me. Not only that but she's one of those tumblrtards who is like uh clothing does not make u a slut, slut shaming is wrong, I'll have sex if I want. Idk bitch pissed me off and I'll never trust her again. I don't even feel like calling her a friend tbh. Sorry for the personal rant. On another note

>wearing lolita at mall with friends
>dude starts to hit on me
> tell him I'm underage so he could leave me alone

She is under the mistaken impression that you have to put sage in the body of a message in order to sage a thread. It only goes in the options field, but if you want your reply to go through, you have to put SOMEthing in the body of the reply. However it doesn't need to be "sage" - it can be literally anything. You just can't post a blank reply.

The whole point of sage is being able to reply without bumping the thread. On busier boards if a thread gets enough sages it goes into auto-sage early (at least this is how it used to work, not sure about these days), so that's why you would want to sage without adding to a conversation, but on a slow-ass board like /cgl/ there's no point to doing that, really.

You're not very far off. The origin of the fashion was that one girl posted a selfie and some other girl said "that's a terrible outfit, you look like you just crawled out of the forest!" and then the first girl said "well ok! this is forest girl fashion then!". So yeah, the origin of the fashion was a ridicule.

After the first handful of girls taking it up the "fashion" it should really have died out, but spoon magazine for some reason decided to take up the fashion, and then suddenly it was a legit style. Kind of makes you wonder about the tumblr snowflakes starting up their own fashions.

>B: Do you hate me?
>female coworker: No...why? Who said that
>B: The voice in my head.

B also tried to offer the other coworkers food that she had taken a bite out of already. She'd shove it in there face saying "Here!!" No joking. Quite a bit of social awkwardness. Sorry for distracting bits in my story. The girl just couldn't do a damn thing for herself. At 27 years old she still whined relentlessly and very much outloud about doing work. This drove me absolutely insane. I got called a witch/gothic (no not goth, "a gothic") for black nail polish and occasionally a blue streak in my hair. Cue black nails suddenly becoming trendy and girls with all kinds of multi colored hair everywhere.

The reason why I wanted to try wearing thigh highs was because of those cute Halloween costumes only the adults had in the Party City ads. I was like 8, thought the adult sexy costumes were super cute and was disappointed that the kids versions looked nothing like it (I didn't know about fetish stuff). Knowing this, my grandmother ended up buying a bunch of really good quality black cotton thigh highs from her China trip for me. I found them to be warm, they hid all my leg bruises, and the ZR looked cute.

It really wasn't until I got to high school before I found out it was weeb wear and that ZR was a major Japanese fetish because I didn't really watch anime back then (I do now though so people have a legit reason to brush me off as wearing weebshit I don't really mind or care now). Also found out that the socks on the adult costumes I liked back then were weak ass thin shit once I bought some on clearance sale.

since this intellectual brought it up, all these "in public" threads have the same story over and over with slight variations:

>I wear (insert fashion) in public which makes me stand out.
>I get put on the spot for my decision and feel embarrassed/ uncomfortable/ creeped out.
>run to post about it, as if to receive a medal

Any fashion worn properly coordinated will get attention.
The difference is that you act surprised by the attention you draw to yourself. Embrace it and what comes with, or move on.

"They stared at my legs" - well you wore a skirt. (In countries where girls wear school uniforms, those girls dont notice this, or dont make a fuss about it. You're just not used to wearing them.)

"They were creeps" - wear normal clothes you're not cut out for this.

"They were mean" - dont take it to heart, dont read into it.

The "western mentality" goofballs wear a style and don't know how to deal with the attention.
Someone who does approaches it like an idol: smiling and being thankful, acting polite even to disrespectful people, since they don't expect that (and it shows who the better person is.)

There is a good story here and there, but one has to drudge through the same regurgitated story and its variants to find it.

I had totally forgotten but this thread jolted the memory; in school on a non-uniform day I wore knee-highs and a skirt because muh animes and Nippon Fashun.

A teacher notorious for getting a sixth former pregnant in the 80s commented something like 'that's a good sight, isn't it?' to a dinner lady. She responded something about it being inappropriate and I hurried into the library to escape.

I'd always defended him when people said he was a perv, but after that I couldn't. On the street I might expect it, but saying that to a 17 year old student in your own school is pushing it.

I super wish they weren't associated with sexual outfits because I love thigh highs, and I hate my knees.

People start these threads because they like reading the stories. This is the appropriate place for this discussion. If someone put this on their facebook or tumblr, or phoned me up about it, it would be a 'that's life' response. But this is literally a thread about these experiences.

Also, 'One has to drudge through the same regurgitated story and its variants' - calm down there Queen Vic.

I know my coord is nitpick and that I'm a fatty-chan but at least it adds a bit of believability to the story. It's an unflattering photo but the only one I have.

> Be me at small local fair with charity stalls
> Go up to guy in dog suit for a high five
> He high fives then looks up and down at outfit
> Tells me that what I'm wearing is brilliant and individual and if anyone doesn't like it then I can say I'm wearing it for charity
> Tries talking for longer and mentions that it's not slutty like other girls
> Leave to go win some wine at tombola
> Come back to stall later to see friends gran so she can look after the wine
> Dog guy is back but not in his costume
> Strikes up another awful conversation by starting to talk about my guy friends nail polish and my friends hotpants saying that he's seen it all before and that mine was the only new interesting outfit
> Gets creepy and nosy and asks personal questions about if we have girlfriends or boyfriends and general creepy things
> Leave to go back to friends house to drink wine in a shed and cry about creepy dog guy
> Want to go to cat stroking event because cats but he invited me and told me to wear something similar
> Friends gran says that he's a pedophile but they can't kick him out til he does something and that we can't to go that event in case he does

There is nothing wrong with knee high but this has reminded me of a weird one

>be 17 in sixth form attached to highschool, no uniform for us
>be allowed to wear full decora harajewkew with full support of lovely teachers
>have a supporting band of merry weirdos that had started to wear similar things
>one day working at a table, super chill lady teacher suddenly rushes me out of the room
>anon are you wearing a neon pink suspender belt with stockings? to school?

At the time I was angry and embarrassed that she had pulled me up about it, especially because quite unlike her she said something dumb like 'what do you think one of the boys will think about the message you're putting out?'. But looking back on it whilst she was great lady who supported anyone doing what they wanted with their body, she was also in a position of responsibility in a traditional school. If it had become a trend with the 13 year olds to wear them with their uniforms, she'd have gotten the blame for it. I wonder how teachers are dealing with the current nymphet trend.

I though this was a typo for sixth grader at first and was shocked they still let him teach. Read replies and realized it's just a non-American thing, and she could have been around 18... Still kinda skeevy, but not nearly as bad.
