I will start off by saying that women should stop crossplaying.

No woman ever passes as a man, no matter how much bronzer you cake on your face

No matter how hard you strangle your tits

No matter how "androgynous" you think you are

Everything about you, your silhouette, face, posture, and bone structure will always make you appear female

Don't embarrass yourselves anymore. Just stop.

Same goes for most men.

Fat people are okay in jfash/cosplay as long as they have nice faces and don't have unsightly rolls hanging out.

However ugly people need to fuck off. It's bad enough that cosplay and jfash get a bad rep for attracting freaks, but having uglies draws even more attention to that stigma.

My unpopular opinion: Men should wear makeup too. If an ugly girl can go from a 3 to a solid 6+ with makeup, an ugly guy can do the same with some level of mastery.

Also, fat people shouldn't cosplay skinny characters. Lose some weight, you're embarrassing yourself

I definitely agree about the men with makeup thing. I especially hate men who think wearing makeup and wig styling is "girly," and then complain when they don't get any attention.

My unpopular opinion: I think it's great to cosplay gijinkas other than Pokemon. Pokemon gijinkas are incredibly overdone, often attention whorey, and an excuse to look bad because of ~*design interpretation*~. However, I am ok with all other gijinkas.

I would say the purpose of cross play is to look like the character you are cosplaying as much as possible despite youe gender. If said character has doe eyes and a slender waist, then you don't have to cover yours up, but if he has strong cheekbones and stubble you have to add that. Padding, binding, etc can work. If you are a super shapely curvy lady, it probably won't work. If you are a waif girl, you have better odds.

I think Angelic Pretty's nonprint items are way better than their prints. While they actually take the time to get nice fabric and do interesting things with their nonprint items, their printed pieces are just some pretty illustration slapped on a cut they've already done a thousand times before. If I'm shelling out $250 for a dress, I want my money to go towards nice details and materials, not another pony print on snag-prone satin (which AP seems fond of using these days).

>> No.8517938

I think it's ridiculous to constantly pump out costume after costume. The cosplays I wear are characters very dear to me, so I think it's better to focus on improving them or adding little bits and pieces or inside joke/reference props. I'd rather someone say "Hey, I remember you!" instead of dressing as the next new thing to get more pics. The next new thing could be that "dear to me" character for them though, so I'm not trying to assume that of everyone cosplaying KLK or something.

But maybe those people have a lot more near n' dear characters than I do, kek.

I think it's weird for women in their 20s and above to still be obsessed with Disney. When they know all the princesses and songs by heart, and all the other miniscule trivial things, it's rather creepy to me. I don't get actually going to a theater to see a Disney movie on the big screen, or going to see broadway shows of the movie when you already know the story and nothing is going to change. fucking this. Just because a play is based on a kid's movie doesn't mean children will enjoy it.

I went to see Aladdin and there were a bunch og 5 year olds in the front row, all bored to death and misbehaving because of it.

What's worse is that you ruin the experience for other theatre goers, and if you are in the premium/vip section that's just a douchey thing to do.

I agree with this so hard. I can understand liking children's cartoons (i.e. Spongebob) because most are written so that both parents their kids can enjoy them. But Disney Princess movies are very obviously catered towards little girls. It's all the same rehashed formula of beautiful princesses finding true love and other vomit-inducing nonsense. I suspect a lot of the people who are into disney now were not hyper-into it back when they were kids. I don't think it's mushy and basic to like Disney in general as long as you have a few niche interests. For example, my friend is a diehard animation fan so the art design of some of the prettier disney films is her niche. I really really like Scrooge and Donald because I got a ton of the old 60s-80s comics when I was a kid. That stuff is sometimes pretty solid.

At the end of the day for me even if something is mushy, basic, stupid, etc, it's the interest I put into it and not how good it actually is. That said I don't really like Frozen/the princess line because it reeks so hard of merch.

Being half or full blooded Asian doesn't automatically make you look younger. If all Asians looked 10+ years younger than they are, they wouldn't make such a big deal about it in their media when they come across a young looking older Asian.

That is also a major claim your making, up to 5 years younger looking at 30 is a bit more believable. You are saying you look 18 years younger than your age, you need to post photos if your going to go around telling people that.

Whats with all the girls in cosplay/jfashion thinking they look 10+ years younger than they are? I have never seen people claim such as much as cosplayers or those into jfashion.

I'm not keking because you're wrong, but because you are oh so right.

Same. I love theatre, and watching a show performed in person is a way different experience than watching an animated movie.

I have developed husbandos during different points in my life. Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho, Itachi from Naruto and Sesshoumaru from Inuyasha I all started getting husbando fever for at different times. I only have waifu eyes for Homura, though.

yep

how is this an unpopular opinion though?

It was responding to OP's specific statement, not making a new unpopular opinion. There ARE good crossplayers out there.

All girls should cosplay like whores
All guys should cosplay armor
No cosplay of popular shit
No cosplay over 30 or below 18

Not OP, but that girl doesn't look like a man at all. If you're gonna defend crossplayers, at least choose one that passes.

Also I saw Pikmin Link in person. She looks very feminine and pretty, just at certain angles she looks androgynous, so I guess she cherry picks the photos where she looks more masculine and posts those online. That doesn't make her any less awesome, though.

Grown women carrying around stuffed animals in lolita is embarrassing. I don't care if it's usakumya and it cost a hundred dollars, it makes you look like a child.

I think people who aren't skilled and experienced cosplayers shouldn't be judges. I get this "baww but anyone can tell a bad cosplay from a good cosplay!" whining all the time and it's total bullshit. You can't give a fair judgement if you have no personal experience with the techniques and materials used, something that looks really simple might actually be really fucking hard and time-consuming to make. Additionally, being a professional seamstress does not equal a good cosplayer or a good cosplay judge. People should fucking stop believing that. The only people fit for judging cosplay contests are the cosplayers themselves who can relate to the cosplay making process and evaluate the quality of the costume in fair terms.

I think plenty of girls pull off animu men pretty well.
My opinion is for white & black men to just stop with anime cosplay. No matter how much makeup you put on the majority of you look like shit because of your western face structure.

But what if they don't care about looking exactly like the character, and just want to cosplay because they like crafting and dressing up as characters they like?

Also, there are androgynous and baby-faced western men. Not as common after they reach their 20's but they exist.
