Keep the rest of your skincare routine going, but the addition of BB cream won't hurt! The BB cream will just even out your skin tone, and reduce discoloration from blemishes.

I recommend you try samples of Korean BB creams first. That way you can determine which brand (and tone!) will suit your skin. The phrase "whitening" might freak you out, but a better translation is "brightening". It won't bleach your skin, but instead even out your skin tone to make it look brighter.

CC cream is similar, but tends to be a lighter product and lighter coverage.

If your skin is darker than what Korean brands offer, there are also BB/CC creams that are grey right out of the tube, but will blend in to match your skintone upon application.

Believe it or not, eBay and Amazon are good places to get variety packs of BB cream (so that you can try different tones). BUT, once you find a full bottle, buy on a well-reputed site like roseroseshop or testerkorea. Fake bottles do show up on eBay and Amazon occasionally, so don't buy full bottles from there.

When trying the samples, watch a youtube tutorial on how to apply the stuff. The cream will come off with regular oil cleansing.

Honestly, most of the differences are only in the packaging. Yes, it's silly. Skin isn't female or male, skin is skin. That being said, there are a few "effects" that may be different. BB creams marketed primarily towards women can either have a "dewy" effect on skin (meaning shiny) or a "matte" effect (not shiny), whereas the BB creams marketed primarily towards men are almost always seem to be matte. This another reason why trying out samples may be a good idea. If you're a guy and you're totally okay with the possibility that you'll have a pink bottle in your bathroom, more power to you! It'll expand your product selection! And pink used to be considered a manly color anyway.

This is just one seagull's impression after being introduced to /fa/ just because of these threads, but it's hard to say if one is better than the other. They seem to both talk about Western skincare and Asian skincare, though maybe Asian skincare is discussed a bit more frequently on /cgl/'s side. Western skincare isn't necessarily better than Asian skincare, and vice versa; they're just different. Skincare is tricky anyway because you have to test out one product at a time, and a holy grail item for one person could make another person's skin completely break out.

I like that /fa/ has wikis ready for Western skincare. There are a few parts that make me raise an eyebrow, like the skincare basics guide saying that exfoliator being "entirely optional for men" (while a razor will exfoliate while shaving, there are areas like the nose that could still use exfoliation from AHAs or BHAs), but since I'm new to /fa/ I'm going to assume that it's because people are busy and not everybody has the time to update that stuff.

OT, but the daily routine that is featured in American Psycho is actually pretty harsh. It includes two scrubs (one of which contains mint, after he had already used a mint mask), a hot towel (drying), and shaving cream. The skin will get dry and raw pretty quickly.

Yes, they complain because natural hair will look less cartoony,poofy and fake. I think it really depends on whether you try to portray a realistic character or not. Look up Flandre cosplay and try to count the amount of good cosplay without a wig. And if you think it's a lot you might just not recognize the wig as such.

There is a time and a place for real hair, but it mostly gets associated with people that are too lazy/cheap to go through the process of buying/styling a wig. Wigs are also plastic hair, so they don't lose volume/style over the course of a day like hair does. It is also generally truer to character hair color, and makes you look like you have a bunch of extra hair volume, which is normally the case in anime/cartoons/etc.

But if you're cosplaying a really toned-down/lowkey character (lots of SoL characters come to mind, as well as some western vidya) natural hair can look good as well. But it needs to be very clean and well-styled and if there is dye it needs to be fresh and even. Making a wig look good takes much less work, and you also don't need to worry about maintaining the same haircut if you want to wear the cosplay more than once.

More on topic, it seems like either cgl is either the official place to talk about it, or we are much more interested in this sort of crap. I now that I should expect it, but I was hoping to see more /fa/ orientated discussion/drawings/whatever about it, rather than just mostly cgl's with /fit/ regularly popping up to act like an embarrassment.
