What is your favourite pair of shoes to wear with oldschool, gulls?
I'm trying to decide on a pair to buy since the only ones I have that go with my oldschool pieces even remotely atm are a shitty pair of mary janes (and I'm always worried I'll run into a lolita when wearing them!)
I wish bodyline would restock their rhs!

Red or blue might look a bit odd (though I guess bordeaux could look interesting if the coord you had in mind is classic or gothic), a black apron will add texture and detail to your coord so that's a good option but I have to say I don't think that a white apron will be a bad idea necessarily; it'll make your coord look more maid-like and, consequentially, more costumey but if it's a look that you like then just go with it. As long as all the pieces are good quality and your coord looks good then you should be okay.

Posted last time and trying to improve but still haven't found a pair of RHS in my size. What's the best way to buy antaina, through taobao or a reseller? Is it OK to wear the flower headdress until I find the bonnet (I've been searching for it). Just bought this old AP skirt on a whim. Saw the tags were old school and this hits all my old school weaknesses (except for not being velvet but eh)

Considering going back for the Baby bustier that seems to match. But it had quite a bit of staining on the lace

Not technically old school related, but nostalgia related, my introduction to Lolita fashion was accidently stumbling onto Victoria Suzanne's blog back in 2008. Lolita Charm was sort of my "Lolita Bible" though my beginning years. I'd come home from school most days and check her blog with so much excitement and romance in my heart. I still follow her blog, but I haven't enjoyed any of her posts in years now.

>>8920459
My dream is to own something like this one day (that, and an old tartan BABY dress). One of my favorite elements of old school is the amazing lace and I love how white lace on a black skirt makes it stand out. It's gorgeous, I hope you enjoy it!

>> No.8920736

>>8920716
Tartan Baby is adorable. I love the lace on it too, it's so thick and detailed. If I dated the tags right it's from roughly 2003, meaning it's been kicking around for over a decade but it still looks new! The black is so rich, and there's only a little discoloration on the lace (which I find charming). Whoever had it last must have either taken excellent care of it or almost never worn it. I'm -highly- tempted to snag the bustier, but I'll think on it. Sadly the blouse I thought would match it is the wrong shade (it looks navy next to the skirt).

My old school goal is to get a couple timeless early 2000's meta velvet dresses, preferably in black. I'm a firm believer in the classics of the fashion.

I keep mine hung on velvet hangers with clear clothes protectors over them. I also very occasionally wash by hand but it shouldn't be done too often, dry cleaning is always preferable.

If you do decide to hand wash your velvet items I would only do it with items that aren't irreplaceably precious to you and have say, absorbed too much smoke smell and the other methods haven't worked - it's a last resort thing. I have hand washed in cold water with a tiny bit of detergent and white vinegar, rinsed with a tiny amount of fabric softener and then left to air drip dry hanging up. When the fabric is nearly dry you need to gently brush the velvet in the right direction so that it fluffs up and becomes soft and luxurious again. Brushing the velvet is the most important step as not doing this will ruin the fabric.

For cat hair, as well as storing items as mentioned above, always keep a sticky roller around to get rid of any stray cay hairs before putting them back into storage.

In "Through The Looking Glass" Alice wore striped socks, and I assume this is where it originated. In "Alice in Wonderland" they were solid like they are in they Disney animation. This girl? I searched "hime cut" on CoF and it was the only actual hime cut that came up.

I also searched hime cut on tumblr looking for material but it was 99% porn, anime and anime porn. This girl came up a lot, but none of her coords are oldschool enough to repost in the thread.

Baby's shoes suuuuck. At this point, I swear by Bodyline shoes. Initially, I figured the heart buckle shoes sucked cause they were a lower quality plastic or something so I parted ways and eventually got another pair of Baby shoes. This time they were made with real wood and leather. I was sure they'd be nicer. Guess what! They broke. Fortunately, shoe glue works much better with wood and leather so they've stuck together pretty well so far.

This one is Misako too:

The name here is 青木美沙子 (Aoki Misako)

yup those are definitely Misako, I think she may have had some minor cosmetic work done as well which is very common, especially for people who go on to become more prominent models. I've always known the '2004' thing to be completely untrue because she appeared in street snaps even before she modelled for any of the brands, around 2001 I think (wish I had the photos). I suspect she may have shaved a few years off her age too. Again, no biggie really, this is also a very common practice in Japan.

The thumbnail looked good but the awkward ribbon really throws it off. Take the ribbons off and you're good to go. I'm not a fan of creeper soles but I feel it might actually be cute (depending on the coord) , without the awful bows on the sides.

You generally still have to style it. Model snaps with straight hair have still had someone style their hair, usually to give it a small amount of volume at the crown but keep it looking sleek and straight rather than frizzy, and often the ends have been straightened or heat styled so they don't flick out. If your hair looks limp and flat in pictures then of course people are going to ask you to do something with it, no matter how nice you think it is in real life.

>or does サービス mean free?
It can, yes. "Service" often means a freebie tacked onto something. My guess is that as part of the event, they had free purikura for guests to enjoy? I can't read Japanese well enough to be sure, but it says something about an original set, and photos with friends. So maybe you got a photo book for purikura from the event, and you could fill it out with pictures you took with your friends later. I'm not sure.
