It kinda pisses me off when people say Putumayo isn't a real brand. Sure, they're more goth than lolita a lot of the time and are a bit cheaper and less high quality than the other brands but they've been around since the old school era and their pieces are still much better than fucking bodyline or something.

MMM piece from s/s 2001, closet child buying book

To give more background for anyone wondering, these are the prices that Closet Child was willing to pay to buy these items in 2013. The retail price in a closet child shop would have been significantly higher.

Angelic Pretty Princess Silhouette Illustration Postcard.

Princess Silhouette was released in 2003, so this is likely from then.

Do you find the measurements on lolibrary to be accurate? I've always been interested in this dress but the bust seems awfully small at 84cm, works it be possible to get measurements?

>> No.8931211

>>8931061
I don't have it yet but if you ment the Garden of Roses op, it doesn't have any measurements in Lolibrary? But sure, I'm probably gertting it in a month or so. Let's see if I can fit it myself (I'm something around 85cm) because I haven't owned any old Baby..

Here's what I was actually talking about. For the longest time I though it was some unidentifiable OP, but the more I look at it now I feel like it may be some odd bib blouse over a Karami JSK. Either way, the coord is dream-tier for me; I love oldschool shiro so much.

I tried to find it for you too, but came up empty.
Even using wayback machine didn't help.
I think this is probably from the very early 2000's.
As for sizing, it's likely to be very small like the other ones from that time.
If you have a bust over 84cm I'd advise against buying this.

Does anyone have any information on what this JSK could possibly be? I bought it off of WW a couple of weeks ago and really love it. It's from Baby, and I'm assuming that it's pre-website era Baby, as I couldn't find anything on the Wayback Machine on it. The material is really weird; it's like a non-fuzzy bath towel, and the bodice design is super odd/kinda dumpy, with the waist ties being in a really weird spot (like, a couple inches apart from each other; they button onto the back of the dress, not the sides).

I'm wondering if it could have been a transitional piece from the natural kei stuff they used to make, because of how weirdly designed it all is/ugly daisies holy shit.

No I don't think so either, but it is an old video that's worth watching especially since it's hard to find on yt. It just has a nostalgic bits , I think - things like lifestylers, Mana , and Kokusyoku Sumire.

As I was hunting for this video, I forgot about the girl wearing Magic Whip, and to me, that print signified a change in Lolita's development.

>that girl wearting Magic Whip

ehm, that's Maki the designer of said print. But to get back on topic I do feel like that mid-school time or whatever you call it still is more related to old than new school. I remember seing a huge boom of new lolitas during these years. The birth of the ama-loli.

I always want to but get scared that the quality will be bad... I like when fabrics are nice and don't wrinkle as badly

Some of Bodyline's dresses look good, but their fabric really isn't that great. Personally I find the materials uncomfortable to wear.

I've personally been satisfied with l087 and l348 but not l362 or l088. l325's polyester looks good but isn't soft or nice like some brand dresses I've had. I've not seen any of the other non-ita solids in person.

I could have sworn this was actually in lucky packs in like 2007-08 or so, but I cannot for the life of me find any photos other than Wunderwelt's. Damn you, Japan, for using "Margaret" instead of "Daisy".

I agree.
Most of the time, I think their cotton is thin (blouses), their lace is scratchy as hell and overall quality isn't that great.
Unless you buy it with a discount, I think their stuff is overpriced these days.
You can often find some really nice old school brand in good condition for the same price or less.

The dress I purchased from yahoo auctions finally came in! I mentioned it in a previous thread and was super excited when I noticed it was featured in the G&L bible 02 from 2001. I can't wait to create some coords with it and go full oldschool on its ass.

It's not a valuable dress (I think it ended up about 40usd including fees, domestic and international shipping) but I get a bit of a kick out of the thought of owning a little piece of lolita fashion history. I was really surprised at how nice the condition was too, there's a minor bit of yellowing in places but the cotton is crisp and fresh and unlike other stuff I've bought from there, doesn't smell like it's spent the last few years partying with a middle-aged Japanese dude at a smoker's den.

It's super cute! Most old school is fairly cheap but I would never consider them lacking in value, the attention to detail is so much better than anything being produced today.

No, that dress is wayyyyyy older than 2007-2008; most of their lucky pack items then were pretty standard non-prints, but at that time they were all pretty much just like pic related.

Congrats, anon! That's a really great find. Very cute design and I'm glad to hear that it's in such good shape!

It's a lovely dress and for it's age it looks like it's in very good condition. You'd think it's new really.
And who doesn't love a good bargain eh?
