I'm not sure where you reside but prepaid visas tend not to work unless its being used through paypal. That's only because they're not intended for international use and thus have trouble being converted to other currencies directly from the card. When you use them through paypal you send the USD amount and paypal then converts it so it works.

Paypal will only let me set shipping addresses for the country the account is originally based in, annoyingly, and FJ + most shopping services only ship to your Paypal address when paying by such, so I'm trying to look into other options until I can get myself set up better here.

I ordered the MTO and they won't send me a second email about it aside from the auto confirmation for another 2 months or so, according to it, provided there's nothing wrong with my payment.

Also, it took several days for my most recent AP order to process through my debit card. Like the shit had arrived to Tenso before it took the money from my account. I ordered the night of a release, so I'm guessing the traffic played a role.

For blouses, look out for sleeves that are gathered at the shoulder, a bit of length might be compromised, but the gather does give a bit of extra wiggle room for your shoulders. Meta's blouses are also wider set in the shoulders.

For OPs, go for cuts like pic related. Lower necklines can usually accommodate a centimeter or two of extra shoulder as well provided that your bust is comfortably below the maximum measurement.

So I'm thinking of doing a coord based on the girl from the short story 'the green ribbon' for Halloween. the only really canon part of her outfit is the green ribbon around her neck, other than that she just wear typical vintagey looking clothes. Im thinking of wearing some kind of VM-esque OP and a toned down coord, and making it look more spooky with special effects makeup, carefully applied fake blood, and prosthetics. (Fake scar on neck partialy covered up with a green ribbon choker). I don't mind if not everyone gets it as long as it looks simultaneously pretty and spooky. Does this sound like an ok idea?

Wunderwelt, Closet Child and Glass Forest (all of them are secondhand shops with their own sites) list regularly on yahoo!Japan. I don't really see it as being any different to list on lacemarket, though I guess someone can bring up to the lacemarket admin whether they want to start charging for shops/companies that want to list there instead of individuals.

For buyers, I'd actually argue that lacemarket gives you a leg up, provided the shops have read through the rules with any attention they'll realise buyers can leave bad feedback if the sellers back out of transactions. So theoretically buying through lacemarket means you have priority ahead of their own shop sites since backing out of a sale means bad feedback from a buyer.

Hello, gals!
I wear lolita for almost three years, but never be active in internet comms. This summer I was trying to make friends in one local chat but failed. I'm not mean or something like this, however people don't like me or just don't see me or don't find me interesting, I dunno. So I thought may be if I become a little more famous as a lolita, someone will want to get along with me. And the question is how to become e-famous lolita? Based on what you have said I would recommend getting a simple innocent world jsk. Either floral/all over or solid colour. You can pull out the different colours of florals, or add your own to a solid piece. Plus they're basic enough that they can be worked in to a "normie" wardrobe as well.

Weeb snacks are pretty cute and don't have to be super expensive - I know the local asian market you can get a large box of pocky or those delicious panda cookie things for a reasonable price that has at least 10 packets in the box.

Or you could get some basic truffles or something, it doesn't need to be Godiva. A black tea bag or two that might pair well with the truffle would be fun too.

Also, get you some cheap ass floral/sweets/etc cabochons (you can even find some of these in the scrapbooking section of crafts stores if you don't want to order online) and epoxy that shit on a ring base or something. If you're willing to get a bit craftier I think some small and simple ribbon/floral hair combs can be pretty cheap to make and have mass appeal.

I dunno, but now I kind of want to do this too.

>> No.9192343

I think sweet-classic prints with three colors are the most versatile. Or pick one that has black, white, and other colors, and that gives you at least two different ways to coord instantly (all black otherwise, all white, not to mention working with the other colors in accessories)

>> No.9192574

These are good suggestions. I like getting sticker flakes since they're cheap, cute, and can easily get in bulk. If you're crafty, you can get a sticker maker and make stickers out of cute lolita related illustrations.

If you don't live near an Asian market or the one nearby doesn't sell "fun" sized candies, you can always buy them on Amazon or get candies from Party City - they sell individual pieces for pretty cheap, you can get the exact amount for each bag instead of dealing with a shitload of uneaten candy from bulk bags.

Is there a theme for your meet? You can always base goodies off of that.

>> No.9192575

>>9192253

It's Halloween, so I think you can't really go wrong with chocolates and Halloween-themed sweets, plus most Halloween candy comes prepackaged into smaller pieces/packs so you can buy large bags at some place like Costco and then split them up, if you have a lot of girls coming. Most people appreciate the variety rather than being gifted with one large box of something they may not like.

If you don't have/like Halloween candy, then you can buy large boxes of chocolates/snacks, and split them up yourself, put the snacks into smaller individual giftbags. For most lolitas, as long as the packaging is cute, the food inside doesn't need to be expensive. Chocolate tends to be universally liked, you could throw in some cute biscuits or sweets as well.

If you don't feel like making your own favors, you can try looking on Aliexpress or eBay for wholesale lots with free shipping. Look for the grosgrain hair bows, most girls are ok with those. Most of the jewelry are rather small, but some rings with adjustable backs might work.

If you're making your own favors, you can up the notch by customising it to the event, for eg, if you do photo cabochons, you can use a cute graphic, then add "Halloween 2016" or "October 2016" on the graphic before printing it out and turning it into a ring/pendant.

I like putting together little bags of Halloween treats for October meetups, but my family's going abroad this year so I'll be missing the Halloween meetups. Kinda excite for the trip but also sad to be missing Halloween.

>easy to wear and try out a number of different coords with

- a jsk
- in your size/fits you/suits your bodytype. If you need to always cover up with a bolero or always need an underskirt (for eg) then that alone cuts down on the number of things you can do with it.
- suits your skin tone -- figure out what season you are and what colours suits your skin tone.

That should already cut down on a lot of your choices. Don't break these rules, especially if you're only getting one dress, don't give yourself problems having to work around a dress that doesn't suit you.

The other two are a bit of a trade-off:
- not a popular/memorable print
- a dress with simple construction, or at least most of the pieces are removable.

Most newbies seem to want to start with a bang, so they'll buy a dress that's a popular print. Yes, people are going to take notice, in fact, they'll be waiting for you to top your first outfit with something better. And if you can't afford another dress for a while, they're going to remember you as the girl with only one dress. Better to buy a dress no one can recognise/remember, have little to no attention starting out, and then you can pump out a half dozen coords with that one single dress before anyone even notices you exist, much less that you only own one dress.

A dress with simple construction is generally much harder to dress up OTT, there's a point where it comes across as tryhard and tacky-looking, like Misty Sky with a lace peignoir and antlers is mostly going to get eyerolls. But, OTT events are really rare, and you can still attend them without going full OTT (you'll just get less attention). So, a simple dress that you can dress down by throwing a cardi over it to go shopping with your friends on weekends, and then dress up by adding a princess sleeve blouse and accessories to go to a lolita event, is going to get more use than a fancy dress you can only wear to either fancy events or fancier events.

I've heard so many girls rave about the versatility of Gathered Chiffon. I would love to snag one for myself, but I'll have to wait a few releases for their incrementally expanding bust size to reach my measurements.

I have AP's Lady Pleats in black, I wear it all the freaking time, I didn't expect it to be such a useful piece until I got it/ I came to realize that it goes with literally everything I own.
If you want versatility, go for pieces you can see crossing boundaries between the substyles, that way you can put your wardrobe in whatever the hell direction you want to and you'll still have stuff that works together.

I try to make a new coord every time I wear something, but I do have some favorites I let myself come back to from time to time.

>Do you do anything special for your nails when you wear Lolita casually? What about on Lolita occasions you consider formal?

I don't do nail art, but they're always a solid color that matches my coord. Always.

I have a pair of AP tea parties whose pleather started to flake off after one wear. They're the only brand shoe fail I've encountered, but they sure were a major one.

I have one empire-esque waits dress. I wear a malco modes Jennifer at my natural waist to give it the right amount of poof.

>Are you a rule breaker or a rules stickler when it comes to coordinates?
The longer I lurk and learn, the more I see the rules like an ethical code, follow them and no one will have a reason to be mad at you. You can have fun within the 'rules' and still A: be lolita and B: have fun.

>Do you like to change up your coordinates entirely or do you prefer to refine your best co-ord ideas?
I have very versatile pieces in my wardrobe, so I often use the same pieces, but I have not yet repeated the same full coord yet. Looking at my future buy potential, I expect that I will continue down this path for at least another year, freshening things with single pieces here and there, but I have nothing against wearing the same coordinate again if I have a good reason or opportunity.

>Do you do anything special for your nails when you wear Lolita casually? What about on Lolita occasions you consider formal?
I gave myself a mani and went natural with a clear gloss the last couple of times I was going out for a meet. I want to pick up cute gloves soon, because between a manual labor heavy job and my weak nails, it's been better to keep them quick short.

>What brand purchase do you regret most and why?
I regret nothing. Second hand has given me some grief, but no real regrets.

Change it up. I need more accessories for my 'ideal' coords but instead I throw all my cash at main pieces.

I recently started getting gel nails, and I try to choose neutral colors so that they can match any coord. Though right now they're Sailor Moon themed because I'm trash.

I drown in BTSSB Rococo Floria. Corsetting and waist ties fix the waist area, but it gapes at the bust because of my narrow ribcage and nonexistent titties. At least it was cheap.

>Are you a rule breaker or a rules stickler when it comes to coordinates?

It's actually not an uncommon material. Off the top of my head:

Angelic Pretty: Belle Epoque Rose jsk
AatP: Beauty and the Rose Promise
Moitie: Stained Glass, Harpsichord trio

plus Atelier Pierrot and Millefleur sometimes get bored of making their corset dresses in tafetta and switch to satin, and some of the brands do occassionally make satin blouses (this one from IW is still available: http://innocent-w.jp/onlineshop/en/154106.html ).

The issue is moreso that most of the brands use nice satin with a gorgeous sheen that photographs beautifully (think expensive, high-end bridal satin), but indie brands and homemade lolitas will often use cheap, shiny satin, which is the part that's really not ok.

Yes, I combine 2 A-Line petticoats (a shorter and a longer one)
>Are you a rule breaker or a rules stickler when it comes to coordinates?
I don't really care about rules per say. When I'm attending meets or wearing anything I intend to take pictures of, I generally stick to the rules. When I'm casually going out on my own I just wear what I'm feeling comfortable with. And that sometimes means no blouse or petti etc.
>Do you like to change up your coordinates entirely or do you prefer to refine your best co-ord ideas?
I have a certain aesthetic that I'm generally sticking onto, so there are a lot of repeating elements in my coords. I also like to re-use the same coords, I wouldn't be able to come up with something different for every single day. Only for special events I try to do something completely new.
>Do you do anything special for your nails when you wear Lolita casually? What about on Lolita occasions you consider formal?

If it's a meetup rather than an unrelated Halloween event, vampires, Victorian ghosts, creepy porcelain dolls, (beheaded) Marie Antoinette, nurse, guro, pirate, demon horns, Alice in Wonderland and Red Riding Hood are all safe choices that are easy to ensure look lolita enough for a meet without seeming too much like an unrelated costume. If you want something more creative you're going to have to think of it yourself using your own closet.

I'm feeling pretty shitty this year because I didn't manage to make a decent coordinate for Halloween. I was a witch last year and decided back then that I wanted to be either a vampire or a ghost this year, but I haven't seen any of the wishlist pieces I wanted that were suitable for the theme for sale, or got any of the make-up-related peripherals I'd need, and it's basically too late to order now and I have no idea what I'm doing.

>Do you wear empire waist dresses, and if so, what type of petticoat do you prefer to wear underneath?
Sometimes. Petticoat depends on the cut of the dress in question - I have toned-down a-line empire-waist dresses, and ones designed for huge bell-shaped poof.
>Are you a rule breaker or a rules stickler when it comes to coordinates?
In between. I'm not particularly creative or special and I like to follow the rules, but I'm not going to get my bloomers in a bunch if a shade doesn't match.
>Do you like to change up your coordinates entirely or do you prefer to refine your best co-ord ideas?
Unless it's an OTT piece I can only wear to huge events, I tend to do 4-5 coords with the same dress.
>Do you do anything special for your nails when you wear Lolita casually? What about on Lolita occasions you consider formal?
No, my nails are horrible. On formal occasions I sometimes wear gloves.
>What brand purchase do you regret most and why?
Regret not the purchases you made but those you didn't. I was around when Gloria came out, didn't realise how popular and rare it would become, and still regret it.

Is it weird if I'm considering testing the water, as far as Lolita goes? I'm 18 and mostly a Spank! Enthusiast but have been lurking for quite a while; I'm well acquainted with the basics, my personal tastes, and even spot people wearing Lolita around the bay area quite often! I incorporate brand into my fairy kei coords-- specifically Angelic Pretty's salopettes, purses and jewelry.
I have a lot of anxiety about attracting attention to myself but I can't help but feel so happy wearing brand and bright things in general. I suppose my problem is kind of personal and honestly I'm seeking both reassurance and honest opinion about where to go from here-- is it acceptable if I start off with simple coords with skirts + blouses and kind of work up from there? I certainly don't plan to tote myself as some kind of important Lolita figure at pretty much any time.. But is it laughable or unworth it to even pursue an attempt at the fashion? Is it an all or nothing kind of thing? Should I go all in or bust?

Sorry gulls. I'm super insecure. 6/10 face on a good day.. Afraid I won't be able to make friends..blah blah blah. Yada yada yada.

Second, just wear what you want. I don't get how you're worried about attracting attention when you already wear something like fairy kei? When I wear fairy kei I get just as much attention as I do in lolita. Sweet or not.

That blouse is not ill fitted, it has full frontal shirring. You're blind.

I like the underskirt because it's sheer and it's like when people use peignoirs for misty sky which is pretty common.

Also, are we looking at the same picture? the waist ribbon isn't visible? Where are you getting this?

Are you talking about the belt thing going on? Again, it's the shirring underneath doing that.

And like I called it, you failed to provide any proof (like always) of what you think is better or something that you actually put together.

Having full shirring doesn't automatically make it not ill-fitted. The bust is literally sagging because there is too much fabric in the front. The underskirt would've been fine if it were shorter and ruffled so it actually looked like a proper underskirt, but it's just a random gathered skirt underneath and it's not even sheer enough to give it the airy effect that peignoirs are supposed to give.

Certain AP dresses, EE dresses and some random other brand's dresses have a built-in petti, so when people say they forego the petticoat, that's because their dress already has one built into it.

Certain cuts and fabrics kind of hold a flared shape even without a petti. Cottton twill skirts tend to be quite poofy on their own even without a petti. Ditto flared skirts, such as A-line skirts and circle skirts. You don't particularly need the petti when the skirt makes a small poof on their own.

Almost everything else looks better with a low poof petticoat though. This coming from someone who uses lolita in non lolita coords, limp rectangle skirts generally look like ass on every body type.

Lolita.

Lolita has a formulative guideline to coordinating - ex: matching pieces, petticoat requirement, specific themes, etc. Otome- kei is less restrictive, more retro inspired with no specific guidelines so long as itmeets that quirky yet cohesive aesthetic. Just look up Emily Temple Cute.

If you need help with lolita, make a throwaway account and post it to any of the other groups (reddit, livejournal, facebook), at least you'll be able to get answers from actual lolitas. cgl is mostly used by girls to vent anonymously, not hold hands and sing kumbaya together.
